| Tuesday -- July 12, 2005 The Young Republican National Federation met in Las Vegas last week. At that convention the following resolution was unanimously approved:
Resolutely onward. As of today we are three weeks away from the release of The FairTax Book!
The Big Lie technique is alive and well .. and being practiced to perfection by the Democratic Party and their fellow travelers in the mainstream American media. You certainly don't have to travel, or read far to hear some Democrat say that there was absolutely no connection whatsoever between Saddam Hussein, Iraq and Al Qaeda. In fact, you'll usually hear it stated something like this: "Everybody knows that there was no connection between Iraq and Al Qaeda." or "It's been proven that there was no connection ......" etc. The trouble is that those statements are just flat-out lies. There was a connection, and the connection has been proven. Not proven by American intelligence estimates and statements, but proven by documents secured from the Iraqi Intelligence Service. Here's a link to an amazing article that appears in the current edition of The Weekly Standard. The article is entitled "The Mother of All Connections." It's 15 pages long -- and a somewhat complicated read. Here are just a few gems from the article:
You're going to see much more on the Nuze .. and hear about it on the air. There was a connection between Iraq and Al Qaeda. There was a connection between Saddam Hussein and Osama bin Laden. And .. yes, connections can be shown between Iraqi intelligence officials and the people who actually carried out the 9/11 attacks on the United States. Those who seek to politicize the war on terror will never admit the connections. Those who believe that we need to commit ourselves to fighting those who want to kill us will understand that the connections are, in fact, real .. and that the current front for the war on terror is rightfully in Iraq.
OK .. so liberals and Democrats absolutely hate it when you point out that there was indeed a connection, and a dangerous one it seems, between Iraq and Saddam Hussein and Al Qaeda and Osama bin Laden. Well, let me tell you another little fact that liberals run from like it was death itself. That fact would be the relationship between tax cuts and increased tax revenue. No matter how many times it happens ... the Kennedy tax cut ... the Reagan tax cut ....and now the Bush tax cut .... liberals just absolutely by God refuse to admit that the relationship exists. To the surge in tax revenue ... about a billion dollars a day higher than it was one year ago ... cutting the projected budget deficit by $90 billion dollars. If tax revenues continue apace it may well be that Bush will meet his pledge to cut the deficit significantly three years before the end of his term. You will remember that just a few months ago the media was full of reports that our deficit was going to increase, not decrease. Alas! It hasn't turned out that way. Don't fret, my dear liberal friends. You will still be able to rant about the economic ills brought upon us by Bush's horrible tax cut for the rich. You'll be able to continue with your prevarications because you can rest assured that the mainstream media will pay little attention to this news of revenue increases. Only people who watch the Fox News Channel and listen to hate radio will know the truth .. and you'll be free to continue with yet another Big Lie.
OK ... let's deal with it now. First question ... did he violate the law? Violations of the law must, by necessity, be very specific. The law that Rove is being accused by the left of violating says that he must knowingly reveal the name of a current CIA undercover operative the identity of whom the CIA is actively trying to conceal. The leftist fantasy among the those in the mainstream media that Karl Rove is going to be arrested and charged with outing a covert CIA agent just isn't supported by the facts. Rove spoke to Matthew Cooper at Time magazine off the record, and made reference that Joseph Wilson was sent by the CIA to Niger to investigate whether or not Saddam Hussein sought to buy materials to make nuclear weapons there. In Cooper's e-mails, released by Time, Rove makes mention that Wilson was sent at the behest of his wife, who worked at the CIA. No name was given. No name, no broken law. The prosecutor in the case has said Rove is not the target. Rove's statement isn't in and of itself a crime. Careless? Perhaps ... but not a crime. Rove's statement only becomes a crime if it can be shown that Wilson's wife was actually an undercover agent at the time the statement was made (this has not been shown) and that Rove was aware of this fact. You also have to show that the CIA was actively trying to protect the identity of Valerie Plame. So ... for those of you who are so elated over the possibility of finally nailing the hated Karl Rove ... make your case. Show me:
When establish those facts, I'll have further comment. Pesky things, facts.
I guess the BBC doesn't want to make a value judgment on someone who would take a bomb onto a civilian transportation vehicle, sets it off and kill and injure scores of people. If such a person isn't a terrorist, then what is? I guess we'll have to ask the BBC.
Perhaps you remember this particular brouhaha ... it happened several weeks ago at the Carson Middle School in Greensboro, Georgia. U.S. Marine Sgt. Zach Richardson wanted to visit the students at Carson Middle School who had been writing to him while he was serving in Iraq. The children's teacher, Matthew Lund, arranged for the visit only to be thwarted by the school's principal, Ulrica Corbett. Ms. Corbett ordered Sgt. Richardson off the school grounds citing concern for the safety and welfare of the students. This was the lead item in the June 2nd. Nealz Nuze, which I urge you to read again by clicking here. Well .. now the good news. Next Monday, July 18th, the students from the Carson Middle School who wrote those letters to Sgt. Richardson, along with their teacher, Matthew Lund, their parents and other community leaders, will get their chance to meet and talk with Sgt. Richardson and several of his fellow Marines. The meeting will take place at the Ritz-Carlton Lodge at Reynolds Plantation and will be followed by a lakeside barbecue at the Ritz to show support for Sgt. Richardson, his fellow Marines and the students from Carson Middle School who's letters meant so much. The Ritz-Carlton Lodge will be providing rooms to the Marines ... and having stayed at this particular Ritz-Carlton, let me tell you ... these Marines are in for a treat. I don't know what eventually happened to the principal. I do know that she caused her school and the Green County School quite a bit of embarrassment. Her disdain for this Marine in particular and for what our armed forces were doing in Iraq in general was obvious. Matthew Lund is no longer teaching at the Carson Middle School. We hope he has found a job at a school that appreciates him and our men and women in uniform. I know Stephen Freund and the incredible people at the Ritz-Carlton Lodge at Reynolds Plantation, and I knew that they would step forward to make this situation right ... and so they have.
This morning on CNN they did a bit on the flooding in Atlanta. One of the video clips from Atlanta's WAGA-TV showed some cows in water up to their necks. They didn't look pleased, but the water was receding so all was fine. Well ... everything was fine until I heard Soledad O'Brien express her concerns for "those water buffalo." Priceless. That girl needs to spend some time in the country. Here's a water buffalo just so she'll know the difference next time. (okay picky people, how's this water buffalo?) Some thoughts from The Neal Boortz Show University of Central Florida Intern, Heather Jackson. Mirror Mirror in the grocer's line My high school graduation song was Baz Luhrmann's "Everybody's Free (To Wear sunscreen)." He lists a lot of things to do, places to go, things to avoid and tells us to above all wear sunscreen. My favorite quotable line is: Do not read beauty magazines, they will only make you feel ugly. We may never understand how true this is. People are rarely satisfied with themselves anymore. The nation is not thin enough, wealthy enough or healthy enough. Why are we obsessed with these things? Because media tells us we are supposed to be. While TV is promoting reality programming, the reality they push is hardly real. Magazines don't try to show us normal people, they show us people who, if not altered with lighting and makeup, are altered with measures such as cosmetic surgery. It is no longer a big deal when a young woman gets a breast enhancement, liposuction or a nose job. It has become socially acceptable to adjust our appearance to what we think is beautiful no matter the pain involved. The pain suffered afterward can be far worse. I have a hard time believing that changing who you are on the outside, isn't lying to yourself on the inside. Besides losing a piece of who you were born to be, the complications can be life threatening. Aside from fixing birth defects such as a cleft palate most plastic surgery is done, literally, in vain. Even parents have instilled in their children that something is wrong with them if they don't look like their peers. But with the progression of this cosmetically improvable society, what are the parents to do? The side effects of a serious childhood deformity have an enormous impact of the social development of a kid. It's sad, but so true. An adult, having a procedure because they think it will make them prettier, happier or more successful, really needs to learn to like themselves as a whole instead of changing what was not meant to be changed in the 20+ years they had to live like that. So, are the complications worth it? Are the procedures worth the risk or the vanity? Have you ever seen a botched cosmetic surgery? It's not a pretty sight, so you can google that on your own time. (Nealz Note: This is easy for Heather to say. She's a knock out.) REDNECK SCRAP BOOK Who needs a fancy store-bought grill when everything you need is in your local supermarket's parking lot. The Redneck Scrap Book is still going strong. READING ASSIGNMENTS The BBC just can't bring itself to identify the people who bombed London's Underground as "terrorists." They're just "bombers." Here's the transcript of the despicable performance of the White House press corps yesterday in their haranguing of Scott McClellan.
According to the Head of the Islamic center in London,
killing innocent civilians is OK. He also basically said that the Koran makes
no distinction when it comes to innocent people...only believers of
non-believers. 1 is in New Jersey. I don't think so. Although Peachtree City did come in at8.
Heather's Reading Assignments: US may begin downsizing troops in Iraq in 2006. Just over 130,000 troops may come home. How effective is it to just pull out some of the troops? We certainly don't want to look weak. And why are democrats still worried about a draft if we are about to downsize? One American presumed dead among the missing in London's underground. Sticks and stones will break his bones, but words will never hurt him . Would an adult take the podium now? "What, me worry" that Hillary would ever get into office? No. Never. There comes a time when anything can be ruled an addiction , but is there a pill for this? When an elephant escapes from a circus, standard procedure is to let another one out to see if they make it back home. | ||
