RUNAWAY BRIDE TO CASH IN?

Well now we're hearing the rumors that Jennifer Wilbanks has a book deal. Now doesn't that just make your eyes bug out like a stomped-on bullfrog?  Yup .. the rumor is that Jennifer and her boyfriend are going to cash in with a book deal, a made-for-TV movie, and network TV interviews!  The two-time felon is on a roll!  She may even get to meet Katie Couric!

Some people clearly have no shame.

ISLAMIC TERRORISTS AT HOME

Ever since the War On Terror began in earnest following the attacks on 9/11, it has been a favorite saying of those on the left (as they read from their Michael Moore playbook) that there is no direct terrorist threat.  In other words, we are no safer because of the War On Terror, nor are we safer because of the invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan.  After all, besides 9/11, which amazingly some see as just an isolated incident, we're not really under any threat of harm, are we?

Oh yes...yes we are.  You see, there is a thing called terrorist cells.  These are Muslim fanatics that lie in wait while waiting for their orders from some murderous Islamic cleric somewhere (who almost always has just one functioning eye.)  They live and work in communities all over the United States.  We found out yesterday just how real this threat is.

A father and son in northern California were arrested yesterday for plotting to blow up stores and other targets.  The kid received training at an Al-Qaeda training camp, where reportedly pictures of George Bush were used as target practice.  It's a good thing they were caught.

How many more terrorists are there in this country, just like them?  Probably a bunch.  Oh...and naturally Muslim leaders are defending these perps.  We couldn't possibly expect them to condemn terrorism, could we?  Just once?

TAX INCREASE TO PAY FOR THE WAR?

Yesterday we had a caller who floated the idea of a tax increase on the top 1% of income earners to finance the war in Afghanistan and Iraq.  This idea would no doubt be popular with the 50% of American income earners who pay no federal income taxes at all, and somewhat popular with the a good hunk of the remainder of taxpayers.  People love to hate the rich, and they love to see them taxed.

But ... no.  Let's not do it.  Instead, why not wait until Iraq is stable and operating on its own, and then ask them to foot the bill out of their oil revenues.  If freedom works, Iraq is poised to become the richest oil nation in the Middle East.

Another point:  There should never be another tax increase in this country unless and until our congress moves to end, completely and permanently, the orgy of pork spending that we witness year after year.  Pork spending for 2005 reached $27 billion dollars.  That's a 19% increase over the previous year.  We could smother our bandwidth telling you of some of these pork projects --- but how about $70,000 for the paper industry hall of fame?  Is there any excuse in the world for using the police power of government to seize $70,000 from the person who worked for that money ... all to spend on the paper industry hall of fame?

Try this:  See if you can get your congressman to pledge no more tax increases until all pork spending is ended.  Go ahead.  Just try.  Let me know how you do.

NUCLEAR PLANS FLOATING AROUND

This should make you sleep well tonight.  The United Nations is reporting that electronic drawings that show how to build and test equipment used to make nuclear bombs are missing.  That's right...they don't know where they are.  Oops.

The document is apparently hundreds of pages long and shows things like how to make devices for enriching uranium.  Investigators at the International Atomic Energy Agency think the drawings could be for sale.  Where?  They don't know.  Supposedly not Libya, who gave theirs back when they gave up their nuclear program.  Of course, we know that Libya wouldn't have copied them before they gave them back.

Could be Iran. Or North Korea.  Feel like waiting to find out?  Apparently most politicians in the world have no problem with the Mullahs of Tehran or the Gargoyle in North Korea having their dirty paws on the nuclear button.

VALUES?

Rock the Vote is an MTV promotion.  Yesterday Rock the Vote gave an award to Bill Clinton.  A "lifetime achievement" award.  The award was meant to "honor an individual who has always made reaching out to people and appealing to their values a primary part of his efforts to make the world a better place."  Clinton appealed to the values of young people!  So, there you go!  If you want to know just what MTV and Rock the Vote thinks are the values of our young people, just look at Bill Clinton!  Let's make a list!

  1. Repeated episodes of oral sex with a corpulent intern in the Oval Office.
  2. Lying to your wife and the nation about your sexual relationship with the aforesaid corpulent intern.
  3. Declaring that oral sex isn't sex at all!
  4. Rape
  5. Leaving your rape victim bleeding on the bed in her hotel room.
  6. Grabbing the breasts of a woman looking for a job shortly after the death of her husband.
  7. Lying under oath to deny a citizen their day in court on a lawsuit filed under a law that you signed with great fanfare.
  8. Selling technology secrets to our enemies to make them stronger and us more vulnerable.
  9. Setting up scam real estate deals to glom a little cash while nailing the taxpayers.
  10. Sending the IRS out to make miserable the lives of your detractors.
  11. Virtually ignoring the growing terrorist threat against the country you swore an oath to protect.  What the hell, you only swore an oath.

So .. there you go.  Straight from the experts at MTV and Rock the Vote!  A nice concise list of the values of young America!  Actually, an argument could be made that items 7 through 12 might not belong on this list.  These aren't issues that are generally on the minds of the types of young Americans who would be paying attention to MTV or Rock the Vote.  At any rate, Clinton should display that award with pride!

PRICELESS MOVEON SCREW-UP

Moveon.org, the leftist political action committee that makes a lot of noise and raises a lot of money, but wins few elections, screwed up royally the other day.  This is quite amusing...and it points out what happens when you don't observe the six P's....prior planning prevents p*** poor performance.  So what did they do?

On June 1, Moveon.org decided it was time to protest Congressman Mike Rogers' ties to Tom DeLay at his office in his Michigan district.  About 20 people gathered, armed with various financial records that showed contributions back and forth between Rogers and DeLay.  That's right...the mean, evil Tom DeLay...this Rogers' character was in for quite a surprise.

The only problem?  They had the wrong Mike Rogers.  Not only was it the wrong Mike Rogers, but they were in the wrong state.  They wanted Congressman Mike Rogers from Alabama.  That's quite a haul from Lansing to Alabama.

No word if they made the trip to the right office.

Some young people get it right on Social Security!

Milton Friedman says that after 50 years, education vouchers are beginning to catch on.  'Bout time.  This is a certain way to improve the quality of education we make available to our children.  Friedman says that the grip of teacher trade unions and education administrators is starting to loosen.

Meanwhile, the Florida Supreme Court is questioning the legality of school vouchers.

Finally .. A Senate Democrat steps forward to say that Howard Dean is using religion to divide the American people.  It's not who you might expect.  Meanwhile .. another group of Senate Democrats will step forward today for a "public embrace" of Dean.

Now that the Senate is poised to confirm a third Bush judicial nominee previously filibustered by Democrats --  William Pryor -- liberals are upset.  They're starting to rethink this whole deal.  Do the Republicans still have the will to pull the trigger on the Constitutional option?

Dick Morris says that there's a chance that former KKK member Robert Byrd might actually lose in his next bid for reelection.  Dasche, then Byrd?  Oh, the humanity!

Is Mark Felt ('Deep Throat') a hero of the Watergate scandal?  Absolutely not, says Ann Coulter, who calls Felt the Richard Clarke of the Watergate era.  She also points out wild inconsistencies in the lore of Woodward and Bernstein.

Oh boy....even Nancy Pelosi is disowning Howard Dean.  Can the rest of the party be far behind?  Talk about a huge "I told you so" from those moderate Democrats who feared installing Dean as DNC head.  Susan Estrich is also bailing on Dean.

Here is the transcript of President Bush's interview
with Neil Cavuto from Fox News.  Very interesting discussion.

You know those supposedly out-of-control gas prices that are ripping us all off?  Actually, a study has found that gasoline is one of the best bargains going.

More protectionism from the United States Congress....this time they're forcing the Defense Department to buy American, no matter how much it costs.  Nothing like corporate welfare!

Apparently the Army is going to face another recruiting shortfall.  Looks like people aren't too hot about the possibility of going to Iraq or Afghanistan to serve.  Perhaps $100,000 would change their minds.

New population figures show that 1 in 7 Americans is Hispanic.
This growing political group explains the Hispandering by politicians on the left and right and their complete inability to do anything about illegal aliens.

The bashing of the rich continues on the heels of that news report showing the gap between the rich and poor rising.  Larry Kudlow says everybody should love rich people....they're government's best friend.

The mainstream media networks are playing up that third-hand memo from 10 Downing Street which supposedly shows George Bush fudging intelligence.  The Media Research Center is all over it.
