NOT GUILTY?

Today on the show I'm sure we'll get those calls from people who will say that Michael Jackson is innocent; that this trial has proved that he is innocent. Sorry .. but that's not the way this works.  That jury didn't not say that Michael Jackson didn't molest that little boy.  What they did say was that after the State of California presented its evidence there was some reasonable doubt about his guilt.  If Michael Jackson did molest that boy, as I believe he did, then he is still a child molester and a pedophile.

America is blessed to have heard from Elizabeth Taylor on this issue.  Taylor says "Thank God Michael is vindicated for all time.  Now maybe people can leave him alone."  Vindicated for all time?  Sorry, Elizabeth.  He most certainly has not been vindicated.  The prosecutors just didn't prove their case beyond a reasonable doubt.  That's it.

Most people don't understand this "innocent until proven guilty" concept.  That only applies to government, not to the rest of us.  Only the government has the power to use force to deprive someone of their life, liberty or property because they have committed a crime.  To limit this power the law requires a proof of guilt.  Absent that proof the government must consider that person to be innocent of the crime.  The government, not us.  Once you've molested a little boy you're a child molester.  You're a child molester whether or not the government has managed to prove it to the satisfaction of a jury.

Do you think this will stop Michael Jackson from molesting little boys?  Or do you think he now believes he can get away with it?   One of the jurors even said that he believed that Jackson "probably has" molested little boys in the past.  I guess there are parents out there who will be more than willing to sell a little personal time with their little boys to Michael in return for a little cash ... maybe a nice car.  The road seems clear.

Now it's time for this grotesque pervert to pack up his things and move to South Africa, as he said he would.  See ya!

Oh .. and by the way.   OJ Simpson is a murderer.  Just in case you forgot.

RACIST?  GIVE ME A BREAK

Our "friend" Vladmir Putin is in a bit of a stew (pun intended).  It seems that he isn't all that happy with questions about his human rights record.  In a rant that some people call "astonishing" Putin said "We all know that African countries used to have a tradition of eating their own adversaries. We don't have such a tradition or process or culture and I believe the comparison between Africa and Russia is not quite just."

Some character named Trevor Phillips who runs some outfit called the Commission for Racial Equality said that Putin's statement was "preposterous."  Oh, and of course it was at worst "downright racist."

"Preposterous?"  I don't think so.  How about using the word "true!"  The only part of Putin's statement that might be challenged is the use of the word "countries."  Substitute the word "tribes" and you have a statement of fact.   And here's another fact:  Cannibalism has existed on virtually every continent.  Not just Africa.

Here's what's going on here.  A worldwide movement is building to bring Africa out of poverty.  Various proposals are being floated to increase the tax loads on the industrialized West and to spend that money in Africa.  There will be proposals floated at the upcoming G8 conference to put a tax on airline tickets around the world and to spend that money in Africa.  As the call for massive income redistribution from America and Europe to Africa grow louder, so too will the charges of racism to anyone who dares to object.

Africa is a basket case.  The continent is as rich in hideous dictators and conflict as it is in natural resources.  The same western world that has ignored the abuses of Robert Mugabe in Zimbabwe is now ready to confiscate wealth from those who earned it and pour that wealth into Africa to address the problems that despots like Mugabe have created.

It can be argued that the world might be safer and more prosperous if the African continent can be brought into full economic participation with the rest of us.  That will never happen if the forces of political correctness prevent those who are being asked to foot the relief bill from accurately describing the African condition and demanding reform.

REPUBLICANS SELLING OUT TROOPS

If you were fighting a war, what would be the easiest way to hand a victory to your enemy?  It would seem the fastest way would be to announce the date you were going to quit fighting.  "Hey, you folks over there shooting at us.  If you'll just sit still and be quiet until next October 25th, we'll pack up and leave!" .  Dumb idea, right?  Well, not according to Republican Congressman Walter Jones of North Carolina.  He plans to offer legislation setting a timetable for the U.S. withdrawal from Iraq.  This, without question, would be a total disaster.

If we announce that on such and such a date we're pulling out, what are the Islamic terrorists we've been fighting going to do?  They'll wait us out.  They will sit there waiting for the magic date to arrive, then attack whatever Iraq forces we leave behind.  Setting a date in advance amounts to cutting and running.

In the two years since we invaded Iraq, things are going well overall.  Yes, we have lost 1,700 American soldiers' lives and 12,000 have been seriously wounded.  But all of that will have been in vain if we just leave on some future date that we announce.  The Baathists would just lay in wait until the moment came.

The only way to handle Iraq is to stay the course, finish the job and then leave.  Not a day before.

CHENEY STRIKES BACK

Finally...the administration has grown a pair on all of this Gitmo business.  Yesterday Vice President Dick Cheney said that the treatment of the prisoners at Guantanamo Bay did not constitute an image problem and the prison should not be closed.  This comes after some mentions in the press that maybe George Bush might be open to closing the prison.  Not so.

Cheney also correctly said that the illegal combatants did not qualify for prisoner of war status under the Geneva Conventions.  This is also the right policy.  Those advocating POW status for the Islamic terrorists at Gitmo have probably never read the Geneva Conventions.  Did you know that if we did that, we would have to furnish these former Taliban and Al-Qaeda elements with all of the same luxuries afforded our own troops?  I don't think so.

Nice to see the White House finally fighting back on this.  It's about time.

SENATE APOLOGIZES FOR LYNCHING

The United States Senate late yesterday apologized for decades of inaction over making lynching a federal crime.  The Senate passed the resolution expressing regrets to relatives of the almost 5,000 Americans lynched between 1880 and 1960.  The deaths took place mostly in the South with local officials looking the other way.

What a shameful chapter in our nation's history, right?  No question about it.  But not so fast on who was responsible.  What's interesting to note on the media  coverage of this is that they talk about the Senate and "southern conservatives" who stood in the way of federal lynching legislation.  Who were these politicians so opposed to anti-lynching legislation?

As with slavery, civil rights and the lynchings, no one stood in the way more than the Democratic party.  It is the shameful legacy of the Democrats at the time, not of our entire nation.  People like Robert 'KKK' Byrd, the current Democratic Senator from West Virginia.  But in a revisionist sleight of hand,  you won't see this mentioned much in the mainstream press.

Which makes it all the more confusing as to why so many black folks pledge their wholesale allegiance to the Democratic party these days.

Now .. a prediction.  This is going to open the floodgates for an orgy of apologies.  Within a week there will be demands, maybe even demonstrations and protests, calling for an official apology for slavery.  No nation in history has done more to end slavery than the United States .. and now an apology will be demanded.  And this will just be the beginning ... stand by for the orgy of apologies!

READING ASSIGNMENTS

Here is the best news of the day, though I don't believe it is really true.  Publicity skank Paris Hilton says that she is going to give up the public life for her private family life.  She is going to wait two years though.  It's nice to have something to look forward to.

The media and the left are always worried about our image in the world.  David Limbaugh has had it up to here.  Good reading.

What does the recent Supreme Court ruling over medical marijuana mean?  Thomas Sowell takes a look at the Constitutional issues.

Al Franken apparently had a meltdown at the Talker's Magazine New Media Seminar.  Sounds like it was quite the spectacle.

One Congressman is detailing the menu at Guantanamo Bay
for the prisoners there....seems like quite the feast.  We should all be allowed to eat at the 'Gourmet Gulag.'

Teachers unions are fighting school vouchers, and George Will calls it what it is: bigotry.

Tony Blair is trying to work over President Bush on the issue of the Kyoto global warming treaty.  Robert Novak reports whether or not he's having any luck.

Three Republicans (out of hundreds) in Congress have defected over the Guantanamo prison camp.  According to the media, that constitutes a major shift in Washington.  The Media Research Center reports.

The latest budget data shows what the supply-siders have been saying for years:  cutting taxes increases revenue.  Jack Kemp weighs in.

The rules that the U.S. Military has made over handling the Koran are nothing short of ridiculous.  And it's all thanks to Newsweek's bogus story.  Diana West explains.
