TSA OUT OF CONTROL?

Now you would think that when the Congress of the United States instructs a federal agency not to do something, that that particular federal agency wouldn't do it! Well .. you might think that --- but you would be wrong.

We're talking about the TSA here.  Some time ago the Congress explicitly told the TSA that it was not to collect information on the people who were flying on commercial airlines.  The TSA said OK, fine ... we won't gather that information.  Was the TSA serious?  Did the instructions from Congress stop the TSA?  Evidently not.  Ignoring the instructions from Congress, the TSA just marched right out there and hired a private firm (EagleForce Associates) to collect detailed information on every single passenger who flew on a commercial airline flight in the U.S. in June of last year.  The first step was to compel the airlines to turn over their passenger name records for that month.  The next step was to gather every bit of commercially available information on every one of those passengers.  This includes your full name,

home address, the addresses of any other homes you may own, your birth date, the name and gender of your significant other, and even the latitude and longitude of the place where you live!  All of this information was put on CDs and sent back to the airlines to compare with watch lists.

This is illegal.  It's against the law.  The 1974 Privacy Act forbids the government from keeping secret databases on citizens.  We're supposed to be operating under the rule of law here, and the TSA is not above the law.  Let's see how deep this investigation goes, how seriously George Bush takes this breach, and how many heads roll.

DANGER -- EMBOLDENED HILDABEAST!

Dick Morris is telling us that "personal attacks" on Hillary Clinton will only embolden her.  Morris is also a bit upset about Ed Klein's book (The Truth About Hillary) which alludes to homosexuality, a rape at the hands of her husband and other such dark charges.

OK .. a question.  Just what constitutes a "personal attack."  Would telling the American people that Hillary holds them in absolute and complete disdain be a personal attack?  How about identifying Hillary as a liar? How about explaining her contempt for the laws of this country; her feeling that those laws apply to others, but not to herself.  What if I detail how Hillary helped with an Arkansas real estate scheme (Casa Grande) that ended up costing the American taxpayers millions?  What if I remind people about her health care plan, a health care plan that could have put you in jail if you dared to try to hire a private doctor.  Would that be a personal attack?  What if I remind people that Hillary loves government more than freedom, and believes that America is great because of its government, not because of the dynamic of people working and living together in economic liberty?   Would it be a personal attack if I reminded people that Hillary is a combatant in the war against individualism?

If those be personal attacks ... then I'm your guy.  What a great time to be a talk show host.

AID AND COMFORT TO THE ENEMY

A new CNN USA Today Gallup poll shows that 59% of Americans are now opposed to the war in Iraq.  You can be certain that there are celebrations in the Islamofascist strongholds in Saudi Arabia, Iran and Syria at this news.  Their plan is working.  Sending Islamic goons across the border to Iraq to murder innocent civilians, Iraqi police and American soldiers is having exactly the effect they wanted to have.  The American people are losing their resolve.  Of course the Islamofascists are being helped a great deal by the American media.  A suicide bombing is certain to make the front pages.  A story about the benefits of freedom and economic liberty in Iraq won't make it past most editors.  We get the day after day coverage of the violence and killings, but no coverage of the improvements in the lives of ordinary Iraqis with Saddam Hussein gone.

The message to the Islamic terrorists is clear.  Hold on.  The American people are coming to the rescue.  The Islamic jihad will survive and Iraq will not be free.

READING ASSIGNMENTS

Sorry folks ... The staffer who generally helps with the reading assignments is on vacation.  I had to chose between taking the dog out or putting some reading assignments up on the Nuze.  You're on your own.  I don't want to have to clean anything up when I get home this afternoon.

The webwench will give you a few things you can waste time with at work:

Beautiful and bleak photographs of abandoned factories in Russia.

Hey, if you're proud of Gitmo, you can wear that pride.

German stork cam. This morning they were just standing around grooming. Woo hoo!

Online circus museum.

Note: pranks that look like crimes can get you arrested.

Morning Sickness: Parking meters installed on street. Then, cars already parked there were ticketed because meters weren't fed.
