TONIGHT'S ADDRESS TO THE NATION

Tonight President George Bush will stride to the podium at Fort Bragg, North Carolina and address the nation.  The topic: the war in Iraq.  The mission of the speech will be to convince the American people that the media just might not be giving them the full picture on what is happening in Iraq. 

1,734 U.S. troops have perished in Iraq since the war began over two years ago along with thousands injured.  Parts of Iraq are still dangerous, as the media reminds us every five minutes.  Bad news abounds...so what progress is there for the president to show off tonight?  Plenty.

First .. please remember that those who wanted Saddam to remain in power told us that we would lose at least 10,000 troops in liberating Iraq.  They told us that Saddam's army would fight hard and keep the Americans at bay for many months, if not years.  Hussein was gone in just weeks. 

So what's going on now?  An insurgency.  The same type of insurgency that America has seen in previous wars, including World War II in Europe.  The insurgency in Germany lasted for over two years.  In Iraq we have Iraqi security forces and coalition soldiers fighting Islamic goons sent by Saudi Arabia, Iran and Syria to do everything they can to disrupt the democratic process in Iraq.  S urrender to these Islamic murderers is simply not an option.

Polls show the majority of Americans don't think the war was a success.  This is a product of the relentless media brainwashing and historic revisionism.  Iraq can't be called anything but a success.  Overthrowing a regime in a country the size of Iraq and replacing it with a democratically elected one --  all inside of two years with less than 2,000 casualties?  If you had asked the Pentagon before the war began if they would consider that a favorable outcome of the war, they surely would.

The facts are things are going well in Iraq.  It's just the media only reports the bad news.  When is the last time you saw a report on any of the broadcast networks about the burgeoning economy in Iraq and the bustling streets full of new stores and eager shoppers in Baghdad?  How about a story about the new schools that have been built by American and Iraqi troops and the thousands of Iraqi children who are getting the education they will need to work and compete in what is sure to be the Middle East's strongest and wealthiest economy?  Bush will try and remind people tonight why we're there and attempt to counteract the doom and gloom.  Good luck.

LOU DOBBS IGNORES HILLARY

Well, we've had the first mainstream media defection from the Shrillary media blackout...and it comes to us in the form of CNN's Lou Dobbs.  He had an interview last night with the author of "The Truth About Hillary," Edward Klein.  Good for CNN and good for Lou Dobbs.  Perhaps the rest of the media will grow a pair and resist the intimidation of the Clintons.

Klein pointed out in the interview that The Hildabeast is trying to pull the wool over everyone's eyes and convince everyone that she is not a leftist.  He referred to her appearance with the Reverend Billy Graham: "I don't believe in coincidences.  And I don't believe that Hillary Clinton was sitting on the stage with the most famous evangelist in America at a time when she's trying to convince the entire country that she believes in God, prayer, family, patriotism, and she isn't a leftist."

Where have you heard this before?

$3 A GALLON GAS?

Speaking of CNN, they have a headline on their website this morning asking the question of whether or not we will see $3 a gallon gas.  They quote an oil investor as saying that it is inevitable that the price of a gallon of gas will cross the $3 mark within a year.  The only problem?  Well, actually there are several.

First of all, it is in this individual's interest to drive up the price of oil.  So naturally, he is going to make public statements to that effect.  Secondly, we have been hearing for years that gas was going to hit $3, $4 even $5 a gallon...and it hasn't.  No matter how supposedly scarce gasoline has gotten the past several summers and no matter how high the price of a barrel of oil has gone...no $3 gas.

So the question is this.  Will these media organizations follow up and report that they were wrong when the $3 price is not achieved?  Of course not...that doesn't make for good headlines.

FREEPORT TEXAS WASTES NO TIME

Well, let's give credit to the Mayor and city officials of Freeport, Texas.  They sure recognize an opportunity when it presents itself.  These political predators didn't wait 24 hours after the Supreme Court's eminent domain decision before they struck .. .with a vengeance.  Freeport officials have now ordered their city attorneys to prepare the documents to seize three pieces of waterfront property owned by two seafood companies.  One of the seafood companies, a shrimp processing plant that has been there for well over 50 years, will have to cease business and close.   While the seafood company owners are frowning, there's a big smile on the face of Dallas developer Hiram Walker Royall. He can now use the government to seize some property from a private landowner, and then buy that property from Freeport for a lot less than he would have had to pay the private owners.  He'll then get to proceed with his plan for a nice privately owned marina.

Only in America --- thanks to our Supreme Court.

BUT THERE IS GOOD NEWS TOO!

Right here in the Boortz Show home base of Atlanta, Georgia we have one Vernon Jones, the CEO of DeKalb County, Georgia.  Jones will be presenting a new ordinance to the DeKalb County Commission today that would make it illegal for DeKalb County to use eminent domain to seize private property for private development.  Now the DeKalb County Commission is controlled by Democrats, and many Democrats aren't all that fond of the concept of private property rights ... so we'll let you know how this one goes.

Liberals who are complaining about Karl Rove's remarks need to look in the mirror.  David Limbaugh says their statements against the United States on everything from Iraq to the war on terror are what deserve the most scrutiny.

The governor of Missouri is forming a task force to study ways to protect property owners in response to last week's disastrous Supreme Court decision.  Sadly, once this issue fades from the headlines, it will do nothing to stop revenue-hungry local governments from taking property however they see fit.

Thomas Sowell says you may own your home and intend to stay there the rest of your life, but keep your bags packed.  You never know when your local government is going to kick you out and build a department store.

Looks like the bosses at NBC are tiring of Perky Katie Couric's act these days.  Rising competition from other networks have them grooming successors.

Barrack Obama says he doesn't buy the image of Abraham Lincoln as the great emancipator.  Perhaps Obama can explain to us why his Democratic party was always so opposed to helping people of color.

When it comes to national security, Democrats still blame America first.  Fred Barnes says nothing has changed in the past several decades.

It's been 11 years since there was a Supreme Court vacancy.  Some are starting to wonder if this life appointment business is really a good idea.  Stuart Taylor takes a look at the idea of a more limited appointment.

Who should be the next Chief Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court?  Jude Wanniski says Clarence Thomas.  Can you imagine the Democrats and the media becoming unhinged over that one?
