AMERICAN KIDNAPPED IN IRAQ

The State Department confirmed yesterday that an American, along with three Romanian journalists, was kidnapped in Iraq.  In a video that aired on the Islamic terrorist channel Al-Jazeera, four people were shown sitting on the floor with two brave Islamic goons pointing guns at them.

The insurgents in Iraq are getting desperate.  After having been all but defeated, and having been unable to stop democracy in Iraq, they're grasping at  straws.  Their own people are turning against them ... killing them where they find them in the streets.  About the only thing they can count on these days is attention....and kidnapping innocent people and finding a way to parade them on TV is never a problem, especially when you have the hate-mongering Al-Jazeera channel standing by.

No matter what happens to these people, it will be used by the left to play up the lie that things aren't going well in Iraq.  On the contrary, Iraq's miraculous turnaround continues....despite the actions of these Muslim terrorists.

Job number one for Democrats now? Make sure Bush doesn't get the credit.  After all, this all would have happened anyway, right?

EURO WEENIES SEE NO IRAN THREAT

According to a new CNN/Time poll, six out of ten adults in Britain, France and Germany say Iran does not pose a nuclear threat.  It is not known if the same people didn't see Germany as a threat at the start of World War II...at least not until the tanks rolled through their city.  But anyway, back to Iran.

Iran is the world's biggest state sponsor of terrorism.  The Islamic country not only finances terror, but is trying to build a nuclear bomb.  The United States correctly points this out and is trying to stop them.  However, the mullahs deny that their nuclear program is for anything other than peaceful purposes.  Of course this is laughable....but for some reason, the majority of Europeans are buying the story.

Europe has a long, storied history of appeasement. It also has a long history of appeasement not working. Remember Neville Chamberlain declaring "Peace in our time" after negotiating with Hitler?  This was not long before the Nazis started dropping bombs on London.  When will Europe see a threat from Iran?  When it's too late....that is, when a nuclear device is detonated by an Islamic terrorist from Tehran.

Perhaps then they'll wake up. Then again, they might not.  Really, they don't need to.  Think about it this way.  These Europeans know damned well that Iran does pose a nuclear threat.  They also know that in the long-run they can depend on the United States and/or Israel to neutralize that threat before something hideous happens.  So, the Euroweenies can sit around sipping their espresso and talking about how Iran isn't a threat ... knowing all the time that America will take care of things before it's too late.  Just like we did with Hitler.

.....whatever happens would be George Bush's fault,  you know.

ENVIRONMENTAL DOOM PREDICTED

The enviro-wackos are out in force today...and they're armed with a slanted and biased "study," which will no doubt get lots of play in the media.  It goes like this.  According to a report backed by over a thousand scientists from almost 100 countries, two-thirds of the world's resources are used up.  Furthermore, they say, too much of the Earth is being cultivated to feed the population.  Apparently we're all supposed to starve to preserve the environment.

All of this comes back to the Holy Grail of the environmental movement: global warming.  To the anti-capitalist, anti-freedom environmental movement, any use of natural resources is a disaster.  Mother Earth should not be disturbed.  Yet nowhere in any of the reporting will you see any attempt to do any fact-checking.  Have any of their predictions ever come true?  Will they report that scientists don't even agree on the existence of global warming?  Do they report that records for global temperature only go back about 100 years? And what about these 1000 scientists?  The last time they came up with 1000 scientists warning about environmental disaster the vast majority of them worked in disciplines with no connection whatever with with our environment.  What do you want to bet that a number of these scientists are shrinks.

Remember, the environmental movement has become a refuge for tired old communists and socialists.  Their goal is not to improve our air or water, but to weaken the American economy.  Read the story .. read their report ... and their true goals radiate like a 300 watt light bulb.

TRAMP STAMP SHOWDOWN

The discussion this week turned to back tattoos. Neal and Royal each have their own opinion of them. Do you know of a tailbone tattoo you think is sexy? Maybe we can use it. Go there to rate the tailbone tattoos we've received so far.

READING ASSIGNMENTS

Adopting the Fair Tax would not only eliminate the income tax and the IRS, but it would nearly put lobbyists out of business who make their living feeding off the tax code.  George Will talks about John Lindner's 133-page bill.

The Terri Schiavo case has made Pinellas County Judge George Greer the most powerful man in America over the past few weeks.  Ann Coulter, who doesn't agree with pulling the feeding tube, let's it be known what she thinks.

Ann Coulter was heckled during a speech Tuesday night at Kansas University.
Apparently some liberals were upset because they thought they had wandered into a Ward Churchill lecture.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) has successfully pressured National Review to stop selling two books it calls anti-Muslim.  Those responsible will no doubt have to undergo sensitivity training.

Another high-profile Democrat has embraced MoveOn.org.  By the way, the Bush-hating group hasn't had too many election successes here lately. Byron York explains.

Does the United States have what it takes to secure our borders?  Not if you ask Mark Davis, who says immigration reform is never going to happen.

For the first time in a very long time, the mainstream media is ignoring Jesse Jackson.  The Media Research Center reports.

Thomas Sowell wrote that there is no such thing as trickle-down economics, and as you can imagine, he got quite a reaction from his readers.  He follows up in today's column.

Is it possible both sides in the Schiavo case are acting in good faith?  Larry Elder asks the question, and also makes the point that Congress had no business sticking its nose into the matter.

According to a recent study, 72 percent of college professors are liberal.  Cal Thomas says while this is no surprise at all, faculties lean even further to the left than anyone imagined.

Morning Sickness: An accused drunk driver tried but failed to foil a police breathalyzer after stuffing his mouth full of feces.
