It has now been over 100 days since John
Kerry promised to release his military records. According to
PoliPundit.com the
promise was made on national TV, and has yet to be fulfilled. The folks at
PoliPundit are trying to help The Poodle keep his promise.
You can click on this link to actually download form SF-180, the form Kerry
promised to sign, so that you can fax it to him. They even include the fax
numbers. Hey ... these folks even remind you to be polite!
TOM DELAY'S TRAVELS
For what seems like an eternity now, we have heard from the mainstream media
about how Tom DeLay accepted travel and accommodations from lobbyists in
Washington, DC. Sounds a little crooked, doesn't it? Not exactly the type of
corruption we want in our politicians. This has been used to portray House
Majority Leader Tom DeLay in the press as a scumbag.
But then it was revealed that
Tom DeLay wasn't the only one that accepted such
trips. It turns out that it's basically standard operating procedure for
members of Congress to rake in the goodies from Washington lobbyists. After
all, they can't possibly be expected to pay for anything themselves! So with
that in mind, we have a list of members who travel on congressional junkets the
most:
- Rep.
Maxine Waters and Senator
John Breaux, both Democrats.
- Rep. Harold Ford, Democrat
- Rep.
Stephanie Tubbs Jones, Democrat
- Rep. Barney Frank, Democrat
The list goes on and on...and at the top, is mostly Democrats. In fact, you
have to go all the way down to 121st place to find Tom DeLay. Facts the media
conveniently ignores. It's all part of the template...facts that exonerate
Republicans don't get a lot of play in the media.
A 100-0 VOTE IN THE SENATE
This is what you call real, actual bipartisanship. The Senate
unanimously
approved an $82 billion spending package last night to pay for the wars in Iraq
and Afghanistan. The vote was 100 to 0. The bill also includes provisions that
prevent states from issuing driver's licenses to illegal aliens. Finally
something sensible out of the Congress on that issue.
Isn't it funny to watch these politicians on the left go on TV and make speeches
about how the war in Iraq or the war on terrorism in general is wrong and that
the Bush administration lied...but..when it comes right down to it, they don't
dare vote against sending money to the troops and financing the war effort.
They know it would be political suicide to deny the troops what they need to do
their jobs.
Yet, if they were really against the war, shouldn't they vote against the
funding for it? This nonsense about being able to "support the troops without
supporting the war" is total hypocritical doublespeak. How can you support our
soldiers without supporting their mission?
If the left really was against the war on terrorism, then they wouldn't vote for
this spending bill. But it's good that they did. Politics should never get in
the way of our fighting men and women.
THE TRUTH HURTS
You may have heard mention before of the Council on American Islamic Relations,
otherwise known as CAIR. This is a special interest group supposedly dedicated
to promoting the interests of Muslims in the United States. Sort of an NAACP
for Muslim Americans, if you will. Well, their Canadian branch seems to have
their turban in a bunch.
Israeli Consul General Ya'acov Brosh was speaking recently at the Daniel Pearl
Dialogue for Muslim-Jewish Understanding in Toronto. If you remember, Daniel
Pearl was the Wall Street Journal reporter whose throat was slashed on video by
an Islamic butcher. Well, at said event Ya'acov Brosh
dared to speak the
truth.
He said that most terrorists today are Muslims and the majority of Muslims
support extremist views. Now, to the first...that's an undeniable fact. Over
the last 20 years, most terrorists have been Muslims. As to the second part of
the statement, do most Muslims support extremism? That's hard to gauge. The
reason is we don't hear too much from Muslim groups about denouncing terrorism.
Many seem to ignore such events, or blame it on the United States.
So if CAIR and Muslims in general don't support extremism, perhaps they could do
a little more to denounce it when it happens, because the truth hurts.
JUST SPENDING TAXPAYER'S DOLLARS
Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue has now
signed
a new anti-abortion bill that sets up a 24 hour waiting period before a woman
can have an abortion. The bill also sets up specific "health warnings" that
doctors must provide to patients. The law also requires parental notification
for minors seeking an abortion. Some woman named Sadie Fields, the leader of
the Georgia Christian Coalition chimed in with this absurdity: "It's a victory
for women in Georgia." No, Sadie, it's not. It's a victory, however brief,
for those who feel that it is the government's role to control the reproductive
lives of women. Governor Perdue has done two things here. First, he has
appeased the anti-choice crowd in Georgia. Second, he has cost the Georgia
taxpayers some big bucks. This will end up in court very soon, Georgia
taxpayers will pay to defend the new law, and they will lose.
AND EVEN MORE SPENDING OF TAXPAYERS
DOLLARS Georgia again .. but perhaps coming soon to a state near you, if it hasn't
already. We now have a new law here that adds a
5% surcharge to all traffic
fines in Georgia. The money will go to buy driving simulators for government
schools. I am firmly opposed to taxpayers paying for driver's education devices
or classes in government schools. Adding surcharges to traffic fines is not
quite so bad .. but still not the right way to go about it.
So, what IS the right way? You make the
driver pay for it. Simple as that. If you want a driver's license then you
fork over the money to pay for the driver's education classes. The government's
role here is to set the standards for driving on state highways. It is up to
the wannabe driver to meet those standards. And don't give me that whiney
nonsense about not being able to afford the driver's education. If you can't
afford the training, you can't afford to insure and maintain a car, and you can
just stick to snagging a ride or taking public transportation. ATTACKING PRIVATE SCHOOLS
Pity the poor parents who aren't willing to
make the sacrifices necessary to get their children out of the hideous
government schools and into private schools where children can actually be held
accountable for their conduct and teachers can be held accountable for their
classroom success. Now that many more parents are coming to understand just how
bad these government schools really are, they're lashing out at private
schools! Perhaps it's some sort of a guilt response for what they're doing to
their own children. Here are two reader's comments that appeared in today's
Atlanta Journal-Constitution "Vent"
You're not fooling
anyone. Private school is all about status for the parents, not quality of
education for kids.
If you hide your
kids in a private school, you deserve the house full of intolerant bigots you
are raising.
You see what's going on here, don't you?
These people quite properly feel guilt for sending their children to the
government to be educated.. so they lash out at those who honor their children
by sending them to private schools. Pretty sad, huh? REDNECK SCRAP BOOK
How big was that fish? Use a redneck
measuring tape and all will be clear.

Clinton's campaign finance chief is quite strong, and
Dick Morris thinks he could start
cooperating with the feds...which
would be disastrous for The Hildabeast.
Want to know how not to be poor?
Walter E. Williams has the answer...of
course, it involves hard work, so some might not want to listen. Excellent as
always.
Police are often under fire because of a few bad apples or some brutality case
somewhere....but
Michelle Malkin asks: when's the last time
you thanked a cop?
More academic excellence from government schools,
this time courtesy of Palm Beach County, Florida. Instead of giving students an
A-F grade, they'll get a 1, 2 or 3. Wouldn't want to hurt their self-esteem,
you know.
Only 35% of Americans approve of the way Congress is doing its job.
Of course, as long as their own Congressman or woman is stealing from the rich
and bringing home the bacon, they're perfectly happy.
If you ever had any question about Democratic Party Chairman Howard Dean's
political leanings,
you need look no further than his support
for a Socialist in Congress.
John Bolton seems to be on his way to confirmation...finally.
He's even getting the vote of sometime
Republican Lincoln Chafee.
Perhaps the U.N. will finally see some real reform.
Thomas Sowell says the latest liberal crusade
is against Wal-Mart. He brings up some good points, but doesn't touch on the
eminent domain abuse issue. Still a good column, however.
The mainstream media is melting down...and there are all sorts of signs that the
marketplace is rejecting the leftward tilt of the formerly dominant outlets.
John Podhoretz reports.
Republicans have had a rough couple of months, but they seem to be turning the
corner.
Tony Blankley says the Democrats have
overplayed their hand, forcing an opening for the GOP.
Question: How long does it take to fire a
cop who body-slams a woman to the ground because he didn't like the way she
parked her car? Answer:
In Atlanta it takes about six months. From the Drudge Report: Here's an
interesting story about a television weatherman who was
arrested on the way to meet what he thought was a 14-year-old boy he met on the
Internet. Morning Sickness:
J-Lo thinks it would be "really cool" to be the first female president. |
