Americans reacted with awe yesterday as they learned that student body presidents from 150 of America's colleges and universities signed a petition opposing any private accounts within the Social Security System. No .. not really. I suppose that those Americans who reacted at all, just yawned. University student body presidents. Wow! Now there's a powerful statement! Come on my friends, let's get serious here. Do we really care what these self-important student body presidents have to say? Just a few years ago they were asking their mommies if they could use the car. Most of them, I dare say, are still living off their parents as they work their way to their liberal arts degrees. Virtually none of them have spent one minute in the last year thinking about planning for their own retirement. Few of them have investment accounts of any time ... and most are, at best, working part time jobs. Yet they have all the answers on just what needs to be done about Social Security.
These children have learned their lessons well. By the time they become big-shot student body presidents they have spent about 15 or 16 years being educated by the government. They have no private sector experience ... only government experience ... and it shows. It will take several years working in the private sector, raising a household, planning and executing budgets --- basically living as free Americans --- before these kids realize that government is more often the problem than the solution. In the meantime ... why don't we just tap their immense talent and knowledge? Here's an idea! Let's get these 150 esteemed student body presidents, send them to some nice resort hotel somewhere and assign them the task of solving all of our nation's major problems. We need to tap this talent while it's hot! These kids are going to get out of school soon. They'll be applying for their first jobs. They'll be the rookies in the workplace, not the big men and women on campus. In short order they're going to be learning that they don't, in fact, know it all. So ... we need to get to them while they still do ... know it all, that is. So, let's set them up at some nice conference facility and charge them with the responsibility of solving the country's major ills. After they get through solving the Social Security mess without destroying out economy, they can work on Medicare, erections for senior citizens, protecting America from terrorism, preventing red light runners, capturing and rehabilitating Osama bin Laden and other ills that plague society. Think about it folks! These kids, during these few years when they actually do have all the answers, are a great untapped source. Let's not let them go to waste.
All of the Muslims in
the focus groups opposed the war in Iraq. Looks like they weren't too concerned
about their fellow Muslim brothers and sisters being beaten, raped and tortured
by Saddam Hussein. I suppose it was all worth it, after all anything is better
than the infidels
getting credit for freeing anyone. REDNECK SCRAP BOOK Ah, there's nothing sadder than love lost. More from the Redneck Scrap Book.
READING ASSIGNMENTS The majority of Americans feel very positive about the future of this country. But .. the older you get the less optimistic you are. You've heard that there's a prosecutor in Texas who is sniffing around Tom DeLay. Republicans say that this prosecutor is being driven by political partisanship, not a love for the rule of law. What would you think if this guy turned up at a Democratic fund raiser slamming DeLay? Dedicated prosecutor, or partisan hack? Newsweek was eager to
report a flimsy story about the U.S. Military desecrating a Koran, but
Ann Coulter has example after example of where Newsweek sat on stories that were
unfavorable to Democrats.
Forget bias...we've entered the propaganda zone.
How DARE a Republican
conduct a
poll on stem-cell research in a "pro-life" Republican's district?
Don't they realize that their big-time "pro-life" politician doesn't really give
a darn what the people in his district think? Morning Sickness: Do you coach a kids' sports team? You may want to think twice about that. It's a dangerous world out there. | ||
