Caught a bit of the Factor last night, and was impressed that Bill O'Reilly is one of the few media types out there who will identify the rioters in France for who they are. They're Muslims, and this is just another front for Islamic radicals and their war against Western culture. Across the world when you find a shooting war the overwhelming odds are that you will find Muslims at the bottom of the violence. Yes ... they're shooting in France. The violence has taken hold throughout the country. It's been going on for 12 nights now, and for nine nights the Muslim rioters have been saying that they have made parts of France "like Baghdad." How many cars did they torch last night? How about 814? That brings the total of vehicles burned to about 6,000. The Muslim rioters are also burning public buildings, factories ... just about anything they can set a match to. In the meantime the leaders of this brave and courageous country are having meetings. Meetings ... that's what's needed. Fire engines can't even leave the fire stations without police escorts .. and they're having meetings. Dominique de Villepin, a prime weasel in the war against Islamic terrorism, is sitting in his office calling for calm. He's reported to be summoning young representatives to his office for talks. If you consult virtually any serious expert on Islamic radicalism they will tell you that the Arab culture always looks at appeasement as a sign of weakness. Appeasement is to be exploited, as are negotiated settlements. The only thing the Islamic jihadists completely and fully understand is defeat; complete, overwhelming and absolute defeat. They will use negotiations to reach a temporary truce .. but it will be a truce that they will use to reassemble their resources and rebuild their strength. When they feel they have the advantage they will strike again ... push forward ... and then negotiate another "settlement" that will be nothing more than a pause for re-staging. You watch --- this will be the road taken in France. In the meantime, have you caught the news from Australia? They had a mini riot there outside of a courthouse where some Islamic extremists are on trial. One thing for sure, the Aussies won't tolerate this nonsense. There will be no calls for "calm" and summons for "talks." Meanwhile, in America, we're still lolling around in our lethargic stupor tisk-tisking over what's happening in France while we celebrate our moral superiority and continue down the destructive path of multiculturalism. And for goodness sake ... no profiling!
We've heard over and over again that all of this rioting, looting and burning is being caused by economic conditions. Oh really? A little research seems to show that people on the dole in France have it pretty good. That might be why unemployment is so high...there's no reason to work! Why would you, when the state will take care of your every need. But the Islamic apologists haven't stopped there. The Turkish prime minister has weighed in. Not sure why his opinion matters, but it has made the news today. He says France's ban on wearing turbans (oops...I mean "Muslim head scarves"...my bad) to French schools has caused the rioting. We're supposed to believe that the Muslims in France have been stewing for months about the Islamic head scarf ban. Right. Just more excuses for bad jihadist behavior. Can't we all just get along? You want the riots in France to end? Give the Islamic merchants of death what they want --- send the French army in there with guns. Recognize that this is a war, and start treating the rioters as the enemy combatants they are. Next week executives from the big oil companies are going to be hauled before the Senate and made to answer for the record-breaking profits in their industry. Politicians, driven by a cheap attempt to appeal to the government-educated sheep among us, are demanding that big oil "give back" some of its profits. Those evil, mean corporations should be made to help people with their heating bills this winter! Nonsense. Corporations are in business to make money. Once earned, corporate profits are "given back" to the shareholders in the form of dividends. There is a word for the national government dictating to companies how their profits are to be spent: It's economic fascism. How long will it be before somebody calls for the confiscation of all private oil companies by government? Then the price of oil would go down, right? (Sadly, there are probably Americans who actually think that this might be a good idea.) Well, as much as the left hates to hear it, without the profit motive as the driving force, exploration and new drilling would come to a screeching halt. And why should we stop at oil companies? Microsoft earned $3.14 billion dollars last quarter...roughly the same as ConocoPhillips, one of the oil companies being made to answer for their greedy profits. Will Bill Gates be hauled before Congress and questioned on his company's earnings? Nope. Only the big, bad, mean, evil oil companies. By the way, the price of gas is dropping like a rock. You want to make sure that never happens? Put government in charge of oil company profits. Then you'll get to see if your car will run on good intentions.
The media, Democrats and John McCain are obsessed with the Bush administration's efforts to kill the measure in Congress that would ban any torture of terrorist suspects. The measure in the Senate bans any torture...ever. The problem with that? Well, just imagine if somebody like say, that Islamic scumbag Khaleid Sheik Mohammed currently rotting in our prison knows something about another terrorist attack on the United States. What if he won't talk? Thousands of lives could hinge on the knowledge he has....and the United States should retain the right to get the information out of him any way we can. Let's put this on a personal level. If you knew that someone had the information that could save 50,000 lives, would you torture that person if that was the only way to get the information you needed to save those lives? Now don't give me any nonsense about "torture doesn't work." Stick with the fact scenario I gave you. If torture was the only way to save 50,000 lives, would you do it? Come on, you leftist weasels ... tell me you wouldn't. Hopefully, you would resort to torture just to save the lives of your wife and family ... I know I would. McCain is worried about our image in the world...and the perception that we torture people as a matter of policy. But there will always be countries that hate us...and the anti-American international media will always fan the flames. The War on Terror is not a popularity contest....it's a fight for civilization as we know it, and the stakes are high. Frankly, at this point I'm more concerned about American being feared than I am about us being respected. President Bush knows this, and said as much yesterday: "There's an enemy that lurks and plots and plans and wants to hurt America again. So you bet we will aggressively pursue them but we will do so under the law. He also correctly pointed out what we do not torture people. But we shouldn't tie the hands of the government entirely....there are situations where torture is just what the doctor ordered.
