Over the weekend I was listening to a report about genetic tinkering with babies. Evidently there are ways you can pay big bucks to some doctors to monkey around with your fetus's genetic makeup to insure a healthy baby, perhaps even to chose the sex. A few people were interviewed. Many said that they did not want to play this particular game .. they would just let nature take its course. Then they interviewed one man who said he would just love to try it ... and why? Because that way his son could be a perfect athlete. Well isn't that just so special .. and wasn't it so predictable. In this great age of the celebrity and the athlete, who would dare to wish for a child for brains?
The Philadelphia Eagles of the National Football League have recently had it up to here with one of their players, Terrell Owens (or "T.O." as he is so affectionately called.) They suspended him for the rest of the season, and plan on sending him on his merry way after the Superbowl. This in response to embarrassing behavior and unsportsmanlike conduct. The Eagles have had enough...so no more T.O. Enter the Sloganmaster. You see, T.O. is black...and you know Jesse Jackson is never going to pass up the opportunity for a little publicity. In a press release Friday, Saint Jesse complained: "This punishment is much too severe for the charge. If he had been caught shaving points, selling drugs, carrying a gun or fighting some fans, who provoked him, and he had not shown sufficient restraint, we could understand the severe suspension, because those are very serious and illegal acts." But what exactly is Jesse Jackson taking up for here? Terrell Owens is a highly-paid professional athlete. He signed a contract last year with the Eagles for $42 million over 7 years, including a $10 signing bonus. But that wasn't enough for T.O....who demanded his contract be renegotiated and so the Eagles, tired of his act, suspended him. Good for Philadelphia...and bad for Jesse Jackson. He's going to have to work overtime to get any sympathy going on this one. Then again, with Jesse accusing them of racism, how long until they cave in?
REDNECK SCRAP BOOK These two were clearly made for each other. Hey, you too can be cool like Tony. More in the Redneck Scrap Book. READING ASSIGNMENTS Think Bush lied about weapons of mass destructions in Iraq and misled the nation into war? This piece in the Journal by Norman Podhoretz will take care of that argument, as well as incriminate several Democrats as liars too. Crazy Howard Dean was on 'Meet The Press' yesterday, and he once again called the President of the United States a liar. This despite the fact that there isn't a single shred of evidence that Bush lied about the war. We're all still waiting, governor! John McCain says that people who insist on saying Bush lied about the war are themselves liars. Will the rest of the Republican party develop a similar backbone? Michael Newdow, everyone's favorite publicity whore, has now set his sights on the 'In God We Trust' that's printed on all of our currency. The court system should send him packing. Supreme Court nominee Samuel Alito apparently wrote something twenty years ago saying he didn't think abortion was a right. No matter what he says now, expect total armageddon from the activists on this one. 38% of Canadians surveyed said they thought George W. Bush was more dangerous than Osama Bin Laden. It's a good thing they're up there and we're down here. Then again, how many Democrats in this country might agree? Columnist Jack Kelly says the riots in France have put the apologist industry into overtime....with the left blaming poverty and racism. But Kelly points out the real reason for the Muslim riots is because of the French welfare state. Former CBS '60 Minutes' producer Mary Mapes went on O'Reilly last week and said she's not sure if she's a registered Democrat and pretended not to have a political agenda. The Media Research Center has more. Republican moderates in the House have recently killed budget cuts and drilling in ANWR. Robert Novak reports that conservatives in the House are starting to get upset, and want a change in leadership. In the market for a new car these days? Then you'll want to read the latest Townhall column from the Talkmaster. It'll help you keep the federal government out of your car. | ||
