UN CONTROL OF THE INTERNET

Sunday afternoon there was a little tease headline on Drudge.  The headline said something to the effect that the United Nations was determined to gain control of the Internet followed by the word "developing"  This morning I went right back to Drudge to see what he found.  The headline was gone.  The headline may be gone, but the threat remains.  There's another story out there today that should run side-by-side with the "UN Control of the Internet" story.  An AFP  story today leads "Dark days are ahead for American newspapers, as sales tumble, a warp-speed news culture leaves lumbering dailies behind and scandals over flawed reporting taint heavyweight titles."  The story goes on to say that U.S. newspapers are battling an explosion in online information.  That would be the Internet.  So ... combine the two stories and what do you have?  You have the United Nations, an organization that is not now and has never been friendly to the United States, working diligently to gain control of the system that more and more Americans are relying on for their daily news.  If you don't see an extreme danger in this you are either brain dead or a Democrat.

THE CULT OF THE ATHLETE ... AGAIN

Over the weekend I was listening to a report about genetic tinkering with babies.  Evidently there are ways you can pay big bucks to some doctors to monkey around with your fetus's genetic makeup to insure a healthy baby, perhaps even to chose the sex.  A few people were interviewed.  Many said that they did not want to play this particular game .. they would just let nature take its course.  Then they interviewed one man who said he would just love to try it ... and why?  Because that way his son could be a perfect athlete.  Well isn't that just so special .. and wasn't it so predictable.  In this great age of the celebrity and the athlete, who would dare to wish for a child for brains?

THE CRAZY AL GORE

Still reeling from his loss (yes, he did lose) 5 years ago to George W. Bush, Al Gore likes to poke his head out of his hole once in awhile and say something really stupid.  His latest proclamations concern global warming.  Now we all know Gore has been peddling the theory that global warming is destroying the Earth for quite some time.  Nothing new there.  Remember, though, that it wasn't all that many years ago when Gore-types were warning of global cooling.

Al now says global warming is a greater long-term problem than Islamic terrorism.  He made the remark in passing when giving an interview about his investments...but the statement gives you a window into the thinking of the radical leftist mind.  To them, their anti-capitalist, socialist, environmentalist agenda is more important than protecting the people of the United States from Islamic terrorism.

Look --- I'm not saying that global warming doesn't exist.  Of course it does.  For hundreds of thousands of years the earth has gone through periods of warming and cooling.  There in proof positive that the Sun has been hotter in the last 20 years than in the 20 preceding years.  Guess what?  Hotter sun, hotter earth.  My point of disagreement with the eco-nuts is their assertion that the warming of the earth's surface is due solely to the actions of man.  Global warming?  Why, there isn't even agreement over global warming among the scientific community.  But there should be absolutely no disagreement when it comes to Islamic terrorism.  They want to kill us, and they will stop at nothing until either we're all dead, or the United States has been taken over and converted into an Islamic state.

There are 537 people in Florida we have to thank for saving us from a Gore presidency...and with the passage of time, we are starting to realize just how lucky we all are.

ONLY A MATTER OF TIME

The woman who gave the statement on Jordanian television over the weekend that her bomb failed to detonate in the Amman, Jordan terrorist attack deserves special attention.  Here is a 35-year-old woman who looks like a garden variety Middle Eastern housewife...except for one thing.  She strapped a bomb onto her body (with duct tape, no less...yet another use for that!) and was going to kill herself.  The only reason her head wasn't rolling across the dance floor at the Radisson was because her bomb didn't work.  Her husband noticed she was having trouble and pushed her out of the way so he could turn himself into dog meat without any interference.

Think about that for a minute.  A woman, who was only 35...meaning she had her whole life in front of her...willing to strap on a bomb and commit suicide just so she could kill the non-believers.  As has been said over and over....how long before people like this make their way to the United States.  How many weddings have you been to in the last year in hotel ballrooms?

Sporting events?  Concerts?  Flown on a commercial airline?  With Muslims not being profiled anywhere...think how easy it would be for a woman like this to walk right into a group of people and pull her rip cord, taking you with her.

The question is when, not if.

RACE PIMPING IN THE NFL

The Philadelphia Eagles of the National Football League have recently had it up to here with one of their players, Terrell Owens (or "T.O." as he is so affectionately called.)  They suspended him for the rest of the season, and plan on sending him on his merry way after the Superbowl.  This in response to embarrassing behavior and unsportsmanlike conduct.  The Eagles have had enough...so no more T.O.

Enter the Sloganmaster.  You see, T.O. is black...and you know Jesse Jackson is never going to pass up the opportunity for a little publicity.  In a press release Friday, Saint Jesse complained: "This punishment is much too severe for the charge. If he had been caught shaving points, selling drugs, carrying a gun or fighting some fans, who provoked him, and he had not shown sufficient restraint, we could understand the severe suspension, because those are very serious and illegal acts."

But what exactly is Jesse Jackson taking up for here?  Terrell Owens is a highly-paid professional athlete.  He signed a contract last year with the Eagles for $42 million over 7 years, including a $10 signing bonus.  But that wasn't enough for T.O....who demanded his contract be renegotiated and so the Eagles, tired of his act, suspended him.

Good for Philadelphia...and bad for Jesse Jackson.  He's going to have to work overtime to get any sympathy going on this one.  Then again, with Jesse accusing them of racism, how long until they cave in?

READING ASSIGNMENTS

Think Bush lied about weapons of mass destructions in Iraq and misled the nation into war?  This piece in the Journal by Norman Podhoretz will take care of that argument, as well as incriminate several Democrats as liars too.

Crazy Howard Dean was on 'Meet The Press' yesterday, and he once again called the President of the United States a liar.  This despite the fact that there isn't a single shred of evidence that Bush lied about the war.  We're all still waiting, governor!

John McCain says that people who insist on saying Bush lied about the war are themselves liars.  Will the rest of the Republican party develop a similar backbone?

Michael Newdow, everyone's favorite publicity whore, has now set his sights on the 'In God We Trust' that's printed on all of our currency.  The court system should send him packing.

Supreme Court nominee Samuel Alito apparently wrote something twenty years ago saying he didn't think abortion was a right.  No matter what he says now, expect total armageddon from the activists on this one.

38% of Canadians surveyed said they thought George W. Bush was more dangerous
than Osama Bin Laden.  It's a good thing they're up there and we're down here.  Then again, how many Democrats in this country might agree?

Columnist Jack Kelly says the riots in France have put the apologist industry into overtime....with the left blaming poverty and racism.  But Kelly points out the real reason for the Muslim riots  is because of the French welfare state.

Former CBS '60 Minutes' producer Mary Mapes went on O'Reilly last week and said she's not sure if she's a registered Democrat and pretended not to have a political agenda.  The Media Research Center has more.

Republican moderates in the House have recently killed budget cuts and drilling in ANWR.  Robert Novak reports that conservatives in the House are starting to get upset, and want a change in leadership.

In the market for a new car these days?  Then you'll want to read the latest Townhall column from the Talkmaster.  It'll help you keep the federal government out of your car.
