AS I WAS TELLING YOU YESTERDAY ...

FEMA has announced that the free ride for Katrina evacuees in hotels will end on December 1st.  I predicted that the howls of outrage would not be long in coming, and those howls have now arrived.  Hold the applause, this one was easy.

Today's Atlanta Urban Journal-Constitution brings us a lengthy article about the panic being felt by evacuees living off the taxpayers in Atlanta-area hotels.  One evacuee, Victoria Johnson, says she became petrified when she heard the news.  She asked her daughter "What are we going to do?  Where are we going to go?"  (There was no mention in the article of Victoria's husband or babydaddy.)  Yesterday Victoria attended a seminar.  A jobs seminar?  A seminar on how to perfect your resume?  Nope.  A housing seminar.

Advocates for the poor are saying that they are shocked ... just shocked!  The newspaper notes that panic has been spreading among charitable agencies who have been working to help these people find ...... places to live.

Throughout the entire article there was not one mention of work.  Nothing about finding jobs.  Not a phrase about personal responsibility.  It's all about free housing -- it's all about getting other people to pay for a place for you to live.

What a tough call this was.  Now ... just wait.  In a week or so someone is going to call FEMA the Grinch because the agency is turning so many children out into the cold just before Christmas.

BILL CLINTON'S NEW HISTORY

Apparently all of that we read about how Bill Clinton and George W. Bush were best buddies has gone out the window.  For the past few weeks, Bill Clinton has been out there bashing the Bush administration with reckless abandon.  His latest screed?  The invasion of Iraq was wrong, and now he's opposed to it.

Oh really.  Speaking in Dubai and continuing his tradition of criticizing the United States while abroad, Slick Willie had this to say about the war in Iraq:

"Saddam is gone. It's a good thing, but I don't agree with what was done.  It was a big mistake. The American government made several errors ... one of which is how easy it would be to get rid of Saddam and how hard it would be to unite the country."

Well isn't that special ... especially coming from the man who did soooooo much to fight terror when he was in the White House. Talk about wanting to have it both ways.  As outrageous as his statement is, it's the latest doublespeak of the Democratic party.  It's good that Saddam is gone, but the war is wrong.  You can't have one without the other.  Either you agree with Saddam's removal, and the war it took to accomplish that, or you don't.  Take your pick. 

Even more dishonest is his newfound opposition to the war.  It was the policy of the Clinton administration for 8 long years to remove Saddam Hussein from power, and now that somebody finally has done what his administration wouldn't do, Bill's all upset.  Oh...and as for the supposed  lack of weapons of mass destruction issue, take a look at the following quote from Bill Clinton, speaking from the Oval Office in 1998:

"Saddam must not be allowed to threaten his neighbors or the world with nuclear arms, poison gas or biological weapons."  But wait...I thought he didn't have any?  Once again, just another Democrat trying to rewrite history.

CHENEY HITS HARD

Finally the Bush administration is taking on the Democrats.  For months they have let stand the charge from the extreme fringe left that 'Bush lied' about the war in Iraq.  They should know that if anything is repeated often enough, especially when it's backed by a willing press, people are going to start to believe it.

But in this case, it isn't true.  There is absolutely no evidence that 'Bush lied' about anything having to do with Iraq.  Also, Democrats who now pretend to oppose the war in Iraq, are the same people who looked at the same intelligence the president did and decided to support the war.  Now they want it both ways and yesterday, Vice President Dick Cheney called them on it:

"And the suggestion that's been made by some U.S. senators that the President of the United States or any member of this Administration purposely misled the American people on pre-war intelligence is one of the most dishonest and reprehensible charges ever aired in this city.  Some of the most irresponsible comments have, of course, come from politicians who actually voted in favor of authorizing force against Saddam Hussein. These are elected officials who had access to the intelligence, and were free to draw their own conclusions."

Right.  The Republican party needs to start airing commercials showing the statements of support by every Democratic member of Congress, presidential candidate and critic of the war in Iraq.  The evidence is out there....all of these people bashing the Bush administration were on-board  with the war then, including The Poodle.   In fact, the Republicans have done just that, though it's not airing on television.  Now here's something you don't want to see if you voted for Al Gore or John Kerry, or if you believe that Bush somehow manipulated the evidence on Saddam's weapons programs just to get us into a war.  Click here for a clip showing some of your favorite Democrats and their statements about Saddam's threat to our country. 

The left is trying to shamelessly score political points at the expense of our troops and they're getting away with it --- thanks in large part to the media.
