| Mondy -- April 3, 2006 AN APOLOGY Talking about stepping in it! Suddenly, for some people, the issue isn't Cynthia McKinney hitting a law enforcement officer and then screaming racism. Nope. The issue is what I had to say about her hair style. That's entirely fair --- to a point. Last Friday I said that that hairdo ... the wild and crazy every hair going in a different direction hairdo -- made her look like a ghetto slut. Know what? That was wrong. Bad wrong. That was overboard. I know Cynthia McKinney. I've know her for years. I intensely dislike her anti-American politics and her constant race baiting ... but on a personal level we've always gotten along just fine .. kidding each other ... needling each other. I remember her spotting me sitting in the House visitors gallery one day and yelling (with a smile on her face, by the way) "Neal Boortz! Who the hell let you in here?" I've known her father much longer than I've known her. I have said on the air several times this past week that I think that she has an endearing personality and a million-dollar smile. That being said, I don't think that it was right to use the word "slut" in any description involving her or her hairdo. So ... my heartfelt apologies to Cynthia McKinney. I'll say it here, and I'll say it on the air on today. When I'm wrong I'll admit it with no hesitation. Now this apology is going to mean absolutely nothing to those of you who consider every word ever uttered by someone-not-liberal to be "hate speech." This apology is going to mean nothing to those of you who consider every negative comment or criticism ever made of or about anybody-not-white to be "racism." Most of the people who have sent me some rather nasty emails in the last 24 hours know nothing about me except what they've read on some far-left websites. One listener from Saginaw, Michigan wrote to say that this apology indicates that I recognized my error and that I take responsibility for my words. He then wonders if it will be accepted. I am not concerned about whether or not it will be accepted. That's up to McKinney. I've said this because it's the way I feel. The apology, therefore, is for the millions of listeners who do know me and who were disappointed by my statement on Friday. Sorry I let you down. Actually, I should be horsewhipped for saying something stupid that allowed, to some extent, the attention to shift from the wrongdoing of Cynthia McKinney to my ill-chosen words. The issue here is not how one would define Cynthia McKinney's hairstyle. The issue is whether or not Cynthia McKinney assaulted a law enforcement officer who was merely trying to do his sworn duty. Contrast, if you would, my apology with that of Cynthia McKinney. McKinney has only said that she "regrets" that the incident happened. That is not an apology. So far as I've heard there has not been one "I'm sorry." Instead, McKinney stages a news conference Friday afternoon featuring two of premiere Hollywood leftist jackasses, Danny Glover and Harry Belafonte, two men fresh from their recent appearance giving aid and comfort to America-hater Hugo Chavez in Venezuela. So, there is Cynthia McKinney, standing there with two men who have said some mighty foul things about our country and our president, accusing a police officer of being a racist because he didn't recognize her when she circumvented a screening station. That man spends his days protecting McKinney and her colleagues; and she thanks him by calling him a racist for merely doing his job. Let's see if Cynthia can eventually stand up and apologize for being a fool. I just did. It really doesn't hurt all that much. EMAIL? WHY YES, I WOULD SAY WE GOT SOME EMAIL! I thought you might like to read some of it; both the good and the bad. I didn't try to help anyone with their spelling. We'll just let the messages stand as they were sent. So ... .hang on. It's quite an email ride. Good think I've got a thick hide.
NOW --- LET'S TALK ABOUT MCKINNEY'S AMAZING PRESS CONFERENCE It's been a while since I've received a traffic ticket. As soon as they catch me using that HOV entrance to I-85 that may change. I do recognize, as hope others do, that the very same police officer who is raising your insurance rates with that traffic ticket would, under different circumstances, stand between you and a bullet in order to protect you. The same goes for the Capital Hill Police in Washington. Cynthia McKinney seems to believe that their primary responsibility is to feed the egos of Congressmen and Senators by recognizing them. The Capitol Cops were organized to protect elected officials, not to massage their substantial egos. Truth be told, these Congressmen and Senators should be going through the checkpoints just like every else does. In fact, one Senator does just that! Senator Robert Byrd of West Virginia always goes through the metal detector and treats the Capitol Cops with respect. Score one for him. That brings us to McKinney's press conference. McKinney has a gigantic racial chip on her shoulder. She comes by it honestly, I guess. Her father, Billy McKinney, has been carrying on like this for decades. Billy McKinney, while serving in the Georgia House of Representatives, actually threatened to "cut" another legislator over some slight. When Cynthia lost a reelection bid four years ago Billy blamed "those Jews ... the J-E-W-S" for her defeat. Now we have Cynthia McKinney calling the Capital Cop who stopped her a "racist." Her lawyers say that the white officer whom Cynthia hit should be investigated. Investigated? For what? Doing his job? Now ... let's see just how pathetic Cynthia McKinney can get. Last Friday there was a group of black school children from South Georgia visiting Capital Hill. They were accompanied by a local NAACP official named Hal Pressley. McKinney actually talked Pressley into allowing her to use these children as a prop for her press conference. There were standing behind her holding signs saying "Is Cynthia a Target?" and "Recognize our Congresswoman." Pressley said that the Capitol Cop who stopped McKinney looked "like someone who just came off a plantation." What we have here is Cynthia McKinney hiding behind her skin color. She has a reputation on Capitol Hill for abusive and arrogant behavior, and she finally took it a step too far. Trouble is on the horizon, so it's time to hide behind her race. Now ... for those of you who think that this might hurt Cynthia's reelection chances, you can give that idea rest. She's safe. Her constituents are going to love this. To them, Cynthia is just standing up to the Man. It's really frightening to think about the type of people we have in Washington making laws. It's even more frightening to think about the people who put them there. LOOKS LIKE I GOT ANOTHER ONE WRONG I guess I'll have to apologize for this one two. On
Friday I mentioned a job fair that was held in Austin for Katrina evacuees.
I made it clear that my information was sketchy and unverified, and asked for
some verification. Here is the email I plublished from an
Well, wouldn't you know it? The information in that email was incorrect. According to the Friday edition of The Austin American-Statesman, there were 12 busses, not 9. I did get the total number of riders right, however. One. One Katrina evacuee on 12 busses going to a job fair. The cost was close. The newspaper says it was just a bit over $7,000. Bit by bit more and more people are coming to the realization that those Katrina evacuees with any sort of a work ethic and sense of self-reliance are already on their way with a new home, new job and a new future. For the most part those that are left have simply taken their culture of dependence to some other city, in this case Austin. They have adopted a lifestyle of living off the work of others; or using the government as an instrument of plunder to seize money from those who have actually worked for it. The migration of these people from New Orleans to Austin will turn out to be good for New Orleans, not so good for Austin. I REALLY THINK I'M ON TO SOMETHING HERE The weather was perfect in North Georgia on Sunday, (ok, so there were a few showers) so I hopped on the motorcycle and headed into the mountains. Destination, Helen, Georgia. (Mute your speakers ... obnoxious music warning). Observation: It is really hard to believe how the motorcycle fad has exploded! All the way to Helen I was more likely to be surrounded by motorcycles than automobiles at stop lights and stop signs. There must have been around 200 bikes parked along the streets of Helen. Once you start riding you can understand the allure. Not as much fun as flying ... but close. Another observation: You could plainly see that the tourists in Helen were irritated by the noise from those inconsiderate bikers with loud pipes. On the way up Georgia 400 I encountered a mob of about 12 bikers who's pipes were so loud that I couldn't hear myself think --- and I was wearing earplugs! These straight-pipe bikers are going to cause the rest of us more and more problems as time goes on. I wonder how long it will be before Helen enacts some restrictions. Primary observation: I rode about 170 miles yesterday. About 80 miles were on limited access, multi-lane highways. Once again I noticed the same thing as I did on my trip last week from Naples, Florida to Atlanta. Not once did I have to slow down, change lanes, or take any action whatsoever because of fast drivers on the roads. Every single time I had to change lanes, slow down or take some sort of evasive action it was because of some driver out there going slower, in some cases MUCH slower than the flow of traffic. I suspect that most law enforcement officers realize that slower drivers are the real problem on the Interstates, but since their primary assigned function is to raise revenue rather than to make the roads safer, the slower drivers continue to create problems. READING ASSIGNMENTS Brian Ganey, who develops a lot of our reading assignments, is gone today. So ... I've found a few I want to share with you: Can you believe this? The obesity epidemic has not hit child safety seats. We're making the child safety seats bigger. Many babies and toddlers are just too big for the standard seats. They call them "husky" seats instead of "super-sized seats for your bloated baby." Does this mean that the left is going to become honest about thier true goals? Two articles from the prominent left-wing magazine The Nation. First, Ronald Aronson writes that the taboo on the use of the "S" word be broken; that it's "time for the left to stop repressing the side of ourselves that the right finds most objectionable." The Left Needs More Socialism. Then we have this article by several of The Nation's writers: "Taming Global Capitalism Anew." Who knows? Maybe soon we can start calling the Democratic Party the Socialist Party. That's what they've been for decades. Sadly, the Republicans aren't much better. You gotta love those Teasips. A TU professor says that the world would be better off with 90% of the human population dead. Wait! There's more! Did this same TU professor say that we could save the world with an Ebola epidemic that could wipe out 90% of humans? | ||
