HOW SOON FOR THE IRANIAN NUCLEAR BOMB?

This whole "being the President" thing is just so easy, isn't it?  Why, George Bush could certainly handle the job if he just wasn't so dumb, right?

OK ...let's consider Iran.  In just a few paragraph here I'll have you saying "Damn, I'm sure glad I'm not the one who has to make these decisions."

First:  Iran is working toward a nuclear bomb.  I don't care how many times Mahmoud Ahmadinejad talks about nuclear power plants for electricity, every sane person in this country knows that a nuclear weapon is his true goal.

Let's spend just a few moments thinking of what happens when Iran gets the bomb.  There are several scenarios.  A nuclear strike on Israel is one, of course.  Would the West retaliate?  Perhaps.  Remember, though ...  Ahmadinejad and his Islamic fascist pals don't really care how many of their countrymen are killed in any retaliation.  They way they look at it, they're fighting and dying for Allah, and this guarantees their place in paradise.  Kill infidels, or die trying to kill infidels.  It make no difference.  In their twisted vision of their religious duty, it's all the same.

So ... Iran makes a few nuclear weapons.  They then use the porous border between the U.S. and Mexico to bring one of those bombs into the U.S.  Perhaps in the well-shielded back of a minivan.  They park the minivan in a garage of some ordinary house in an obscure neighborhood in some mid-sized American city.  Then they conduct a nuclear test in Iran.  Surprise!  We have the bomb!

As the world is reacting to the Iranian nuclear test, some deranged Mullah steps up to the microphones to inform the world that there is a bomb just like the one they tested somewhere in the United States.  There's another in some Western European country.  The world is then informed that both of these bombs will be detonated unless certain Islamic demands are met.

What demands?  Well, let's start with the removal of all U.S. and Western troops out of the Middle East.   Then all Jews are told to leave Israel or face annihilation.  The U.S. is told that if we dare to defend Israel, the bomb will be detonated.  In short order the Islamic fascists have complete control over the entire Middle East.  All moderate Arab governments will fall.  The Persians of Iran will rule.  All oil supplies to the Western world will be held hostage to Iranian demands.

Now ... is there anything in this scenario thus far that you think is absurd?  Can you not see things playing out pretty much this way?  Sure, there are as many possibilities are there are people capable of dreaming them up.  Any way you look at it, Iran with a nuclear bomb isn't a warm and fuzzy thought.

So .. what do we do?

There are three main alternatives.

  1. Diplomacy
  2. Sanctions against Iran
  3. Military action

Diplomacy?

Tell me, please, how that is going to work.  The Islamic world sees America as weak.  When George Bush first initiated the war against Radical Islam we were seen as strong and full of resolve.  The Arabic world responded to that image of strength and determination.  Libya immediately halted its weapons programs.  Saudi Arabia started to institute reforms that called for more democratic processes.  Syria was trembling in fear that American troops would not stop at its border with Iraq.

Then ... the left got rolling.  Democrats' hatred of George Bush overwhelmed any resolve they may have had to defeat Islamic fascism.  Islamic fascists who once feared that a dangerous and resolute America had been pushed too far suddenly saw signs of weakness.  The "Bush lied - People died" campaign was in full swing, and Islamists were in full smile.  Democrats were pushing for a timetable to war, a timetable that Islamic murderers would use as one for conquest.

Diplomacy?  Sorry .. but we're operating from a position of weakness in any diplomatic discussions with Iran.  Why, we're getting ready to give a former Iranian President president Mohammad Khatami a royal welcome to the U.S. next week?  In fact, Mr. Appeasement himself, Jimmy Carter, is going to swap spit with Khatami in Washington DC!  This Islamic murderer is going to be permitted to speak at the National Cathedral!  All of this ... every bit ... the visit, the meeting with Carter and the speech in our National Cathedral will be viewed by Islamists as a sign of American weakness.

If you think that negotiating with Iran from a position of perceived weakness will do the trick, then go for it!  Let us know how that works out for you!

Sanctions?

Let me read to you the headlines in the world's major newspapers just a few weeks after we impose sanctions on Iraq.

  • Iranian Sanctions Bring Hunger
  • Women and Children Suffer Under Oppressive Sanctions
  • Iranian Children are Dying for Lack of Medicines

Get the picture?

As soon as we impose sanctions the left's publicity machine will crank up in perfect step with Islamic propagandists.  Ahmadinejad is not above starving his own people to get images of death that can be broadcast worldwide and blamed on the Americans and their sanctions.  In the meantime, Russia will make sure that the Iranian nuclear program isn't hurt.  Who knows, maybe a little help will come from that strange little gargoyle in North Korea as well!

With sanctions the United States will soon be painted as a horrific monster that is set out on a course of genocide against the Iranian people.  The world media will be all-too-happy to promote that image.

Military Action?

The simplistic solution would seem to be to just send in the military to destroy as much of Iran's nuclear infrastructure as possible.  You do know, don't you, that Ahmadinejad has surrounded the Iranian nuclear development sites with as many Iranian school children and women as possible.  He has taken steps to guarantee that any Israeli or U.S. strike against his nuclear program will result in the deaths of hundreds, perhaps thousands of women and children.  If our planes and bombs don't kill them, then he will ... with all blame placed on America.

Remember ... there are new rules out there.  While Muslims can get a pass on shooting children in the back, the United States simply cannot take any military action, no matter how grave the threat may be, if that military action would result in the death of a civilian, let alone a woman or child.

There are your options.  Today the Iranian government is supposed to tell us whether or not it is going to cease it's nuclear enrichment program.  Do you want to sit in the Oval Office and make the decision as to how we respond?

LOOKING LIKE SANCTIONS FOR NOW ...

The conventional wisdom is that the next move against Iran will be sanctions

When Iran tells the world, probably today, to go play with itself, something will have to be done.  After all, we don't want to look completely French, do we?  So what will it be?

Probably sanctions.  In fact, we're working up a list of sanctions right now!

So what kind of sanctions?  Real ones that will really, really hurt?  Of course not.  Why?  Because real sanctions (like, for instance, on oil sales) would actually hurt.  Instead, here are some of the "sanctions" that are likely to be proposed:

  • Restrictions on the import of nuclear equipment and material.  Yawn.  Like that stopped North Korea.

  • Measures that might restrict the travel of Iran's leaders.  Like to where?  The United States?  I'm sure they're shaking in their boots.

  • And, according to news reports, the United States would look to pressure European markets to stop lending money to Iran.  Oh boy...this is sure to have Tehran shaking in their boots!  There are banks in the world that would lend money to anybody.

So at the end of the day, Iran is going to defy the world, and there will be no consequences, just like the rogue terrorist state knew there wouldn't be.  After all, it took 12 years of U.N. resolutions before the U.S. invaded Iraq and put Saddam Hussein in jail.  Iran's just getting started.

Just as always, the U.N. is a complete joke.  Aside from calls of condemnation and threats of sanctions, nothing will happen.  And the Islamic terrorist beat  goes on.

MUSLIM MOWS 'EM DOWN

.... but it certainly isn't terrorism.

We had a Muslim driving around San Francisco yesterday just mowing people down wherever he could find them.  He killed one, injured about 13 or so.  One witness says that when he was captured he made a statement that he was a terrorist.  The police say he wasn't.  This San Francisco attack bears an eerie resemblance to another SUV attack on the campus of the University of North Carolina a few months ago.

Hugh Hewitt wrote an excellent column for Townhall.com today in which he highlights Muslim attacks against Jews and Americans in the U.S.  I want you to read his entire column.  This link will take you there

I also want to extract five link contained in Hewitt's column and place them here for you to use.  These are links to stories about five of these random (?) Muslim attacks in the U.S. over the past few years:

A suicide bombing at the University of Oklahoma?  What is he talking about?  Go to the links.  It's time to pay a bit more attention here.

GOVERNMENT ADDRESSES 9/11 CONSPIRACIES

This is quite interesting.  The federal government has taken the surprising step of addressing some of the more popular 9/11 conspiracies that are out there.  Evidently with the Internet being what it is these days, some of these theories have caught fire, so a government agency called "The National Institute of Standards and Technology" has stepped in to debunk them.  They've published a paper on alternative theories.

They address questions like why did the twin towers collapse if they were designed to withstand the impact from an airplane.  And what about this controlled demolition nonsense...they debunk that too.  The details get somewhat technical, but the conclusion is the same:  the World Trade Center towers collapsed because Islamic terrorist hijackers flew planes into them.  Plain and simple.  Of course, to the terrorism deniers and Islamic appeasers, this will never prove to be true.  Remember, there are people out there that believe the Earth is flat and the moon landing was staged.

But the NIST missed a few popular 9/11 conspiracies.  For instance, what do you suppose they would have to say about the theory that George W. Bush installed giant magnets in the twin towers in order to attract airplanes?  This was done in an attempt to make it look like a terrorist attack so the neocons could start a war.  And what about the theory that all of the Jewish people that worked in the buildings were warned a day in advance?  How's come they knew about it an no one else did?

And what about Howard Dean's theory, shared with Jihad Cynthia McKinney,  that the administration knew about the attack before it happened, yet told nobody and let 3,000 people die instead?  Sounds like the government has more work to do on their conspiracy list.

G.M. PULLS 'SURVIVOR' SPONSORSHIP

You knew this was coming.  A major sponsor of the reality TV show 'Survivor' has bailed on the program.  Of course, that's their right...GM can sponsor whatever shows it wants and advertise on any show it chooses.  The carmaker claims their decision has nothing to do with the recent controversy over the new race-based format.  Uh-huh.  Whatever.

Anyway, why all the uproar?  There is absolutely nothing wrong with one racial group showing its ethnic pride by competing against another.  Is it because people want to pretend there are no differences between the races?  Is American society so uptight that we can't watch a show like this without a political correctness firestorm engulfing it?

What about other shows that regularly feature men against women?  Isn't that sexist?  Shouldn't it be stopped at once?  How about beer commercials that show members of all races sitting around a campfire, just to achieve racial balance?  Isn't that racial exploitation?  The examples go on and on.

But all of this does prove one thing:  the producers of 'Survivor' and its network, CBS, are geniuses.  The show's ratings had been down, but now everybody will be watching due to the controversy.  Who will win:  the whites, the blacks, the Asians or the Hispanics?  I suppose that depends on the challenges.

If there are any math problems, expect the Asians to run away with it.

REDNECK SCRAP BOOK

Oh yeah, this is classic redneck ingenuity. More in the Redneck Scrap Book.

FEELING THE LOVE

In my bid to make the next People Magazine list of the sexiest men in America I agreed to two television appearances yesterday.  At 4:30 yesterday afternoon I participated in a Tasmanian Cluster ___ on Tucker Carlson's MSNBC show, and at 9:30 I made my way to the Atlanta Fox News studios for a shot on Hannity & Colmes.

Email?  Oh yeah ... we got email from both appearances.  It seems a bit self-serving to share the nice ones with you, so why not just highlight one of the nasty ones?  So ...here you go.  Oh, and I'm sorry I didn't have the time to correct the spelling.  As you know if you are a loyal Nuze reader, I make enough mistakes of my own.  Hey ... these are program notes, not a college essay.

A listener, Ruth, grabbed this screen shot from Neal's MSNBC appearance. Kind of looks like he's about to hop a bus to Albuquerque, doesn't it? [video]

I watched you on MSNBC this evening. Given I never heard of you before , this was my first exposure to the simplistic, studity of your arguement. Was it supposed to be cute, to unsuccessfully try to mimic Jerry Springer, as if that would have some value in the discussion?  What I love most about the Rumsfeld types, including you, is Rumsfeld has not been right on one subject. Every prediction he made about the war turned out to be wrong. I realize you guys want to go to war with everyone. You in fact lust for blood. You can accuse liberals of being nazi sympathizers all you want,  but the truth is the blood of 2600 americans are on your hands. And their is not a soap in existence, that can wipe that blood away. Add me to the list of people who hate the warmonger Bush. On that list, add your sad name. If you are so gung ho to go to war with everyone you think is dangerous, I suggest you enlist. But you sorry war hawks want others to die for your sad war plans. The thing I am most thankful about, is you go back to obscurity, where you belong. And someone had to say it. And I am that person.

Golly, kids!  Wasn't that fun!  Moving on now to your reading assignments:

READING ASSIGNMENTS

Unless the Republicans wake up and adopt an agenda that captures the imagination of the American voter, they're going to lose the House in November.  Here's a look at some of the Democrat committee chairmen who will then step forward.

Have you noticed that when the media is running stories about that captured cult leader from Utah or the 29-year-old lawyer that stabbed his neighbor to death, they use their pictures.  But when they run stories about the Islamic man that drove his car into a crowd in San Francisco, while proclaiming himself a terrorist...no picture.  Perhaps it's the media being politically incorrect?  Well, that hasn't stopped WorldNet Daily.

There was a bill in Congress that would have created a searchable database so people could easily find out where about $2.5 trillion in government spending went...but it was secretly blocked by a U.S. Senator.  Now we know who....it was none other than the builder of the Bridge To Nowhere himself:  Alaska Senator Ted Stevens.  Hardly a surprise.

Looks like just about all Democrats are beginning to feel the wrath of the extreme Left, not just Joe Lieberman.  There is a new trend of black incumbents being challenged in primaries because they're too conservative.  The nutcases in that party really have hijacked the primary process.

John Murtha is mad at Hillary Clinton...for not supporting his call to cut and run from Iraq.
He can't believe The Hildabeast is not backing him up.  That's because the DNC used Murtha to float their surrender trial balloon, and now they've throw him under the bus.

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice says she's not running for president and has decided to do other things with her life.  Instead, she wants to go back to Stanford and teach or become a president of a sports team.  So much for 'Condi vs. Hillary.'

Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich is warning people of the disaster that is going to come if the Democrats take over the House and Nancy Pelosi becomes Speaker.  Not only that, she would be third in line to the presidency...and he's right, that is frightening.

Ann Coulter opens up on Republican In Name Only (RINO,) Lincoln Chafee of Rhode Island.  She says she can't believe President Bush is supporting him, since he's basically a Democrat.

Illinois Senator Barack Obama recently toured Africa...and Larry Elder wants to know if Obama is really for the poor like he says.  After all, Obama has been in favor of tariffs that are hurting poor people in Kenya.

With hostage-taking still going in the Palestinian territories, Victor Davis Hanson wonders if democracy is still the best course in the Middle East, even if it means Hamas winning elections.  He says democracy is still the way to go.

George Will takes a look at the Senate race in Missouri and says it is going to be very messy.  That state, which almost always votes for the winner in presidential elections, is going to be the real test for what happens nationwide.
