This repugnant behavior was to be expected out of Joseph Lowery. He chose the occasion of the funeral of the widow of Martin Luther King Jr. to announce that we found no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, Never mind that Lowery is wrong. He's often wrong. For Lowery, the race baiting and liberal dogma always comes before fact and logic. He didn't measure up as President of King's SCLC, and he didn't measure up to the task of being a gentleman and honoring Coretta Scott King yesterday. Then there was Jimmy Carter. Some people refer to Carter as "America's best ex-president." Well, if you want to consider his empowerment of people like Kim Jong Ill and Hugo Chavez as good for America, then you may have a point. If measuring the worth of a former president consists of measuring his affection for the world's dictators, then Carter is indeed one of the best. Carter used the occasion of this funeral to take a jab at bush over the NSA wiretaps. Carter has declared them to be illegal. Now he's a judge and a legal scholar. Carter brought up the fact that the FBI wiretapped Martin Luther King. He didn't mention that this happened under Democratic administrations. He also failed to mention that it was under a Democratic institution that tapes of those wiretaps, tapes purportedly showing instances of MLK's infidelities, were surreptitiously sent to his wife. President Bush knew that this would happen when he went to the funeral. He knew that Democrats and liberals would use an overwhelmingly friendly audience to take their shots. He showed great dignity in sitting there and taking it all in stride. Bush stood tall, Lowery and Carter stooped low. This, then, seems to be the new standard for funerals and memorial services for liberal icons. The TV cameras will be there. Millions will be watching, and emotions will be raw. What a great time to get in some political digs! Both Joseph Lowery and Jimmy Carter should be ashamed. Sadly, they don't have the class to understand that.
Perhaps, though, there will be a more positive fallout from these demonstrations and threats against Europeans. Maybe more and more people will come to understand that all of these assertions that Islam is a religion of love and peace are patently false. Islam is displaying its true colors. The entire world is seeing the signs .. the signs on the streets calling for death and decapitations. "Death to those who insult Islam." "Cut off the hands of those who depict the Prophet." "Decapitate those who disrespect Mohammed." Some of the signs caution Europe to remember 9/11. Threats, pure and simple. Practitioners of a religion of love and peace do not demand death for imagined insults. Now we have that moonbat running Iran calling for some sort of a competition for cartoonists about the Jewish Holocaust. So much for respect for other people's religion. Europe is coming to understand the perils of leftist multiculturalism. All culture are not equal. Western culture is clearly superior to that of the "peaceful" religion of Islam. A culture of tolerance for diverse religions beliefs is superior to one of religious hatred. The European welfare states had to drop immigration barriers in order to import enough workers to tax in order to pay the bills. In establishing these grandiose social welfare states did these European nations sew the seeds for their own destruction?
If you've been listening you know that I, like many others, have some problems with our government's wiretap program. Simply put, if those wiretaps involve an American citizen I would like for our government to get to a judge as soon as practicable and legitimize them. Having said that, I want to reiterate my complaints about the way the leftist media is characterizing these wiretaps. In newspaper after newspaper you will see the wiretaps referred to as "spying on Americans." The fact is that the spying is being done on known terrorist suspects overseas. If those known terrorist suspects happen to make a phone call to someone in this country, including an American citizen, the eavesdropping continues. Think about this people? There are American citizens who would do our country harm. There are American citizens who have aligned themselves with terrorist elements. Remember Johnny Taliban? John Walker Lindh? How about Osama bin Lopez? Do the names Timothy McVeigh and Terry Nichols mean anything to you? Are you telling me that if either of these goons received a call from a Taliban official our intelligence officials should just say "Oops, they've made a call to an American. We have to disconnect."
Uh oh. Expect some mighty big whining from the left today. The deadline .. yet another deadline ... has come for some of the Katrina parasites. Check out time in about 1,500 hotel rooms in the Atlanta area was 11:00 yesterday. It's been five months. Time to end the freeloading. So ... guess what happened. In a few instances the evacuees actually came up with some money to extend their stay? Wow! The government stops covering the tab with taxpayer money, and suddenly these people come up with their own! 'Sup wid dat? Some of the hotel managers are reporting that the rooms evacuated by these poor, poor victims of Katrina are in pretty rough shape. Furniture was destroyed. There were cigarette burn marks in the carpeting. Many of these hotels are saying that any money they made from FEMA housing these deadbeats will have to be spent cleaning up and fixing the rooms. Carpeting will have to be replaced in many of them. Other hotel operators said that the Katrina evacuees caused problems with other, paying guests. One property usually got about 3 or 4 complaints a month. With the Katrina evacuees in place these hotels reported that non-Katrina guests lodged over 50 complaints a month. I've caught no small amount of hell over the past few months slamming many of these evacuees. One leftist website took great pride in relaying my assertions that many of these people were like ticks who were just looking for a dry spot on the dog. Looks like I had things about right. Many of these evacuees brought to their hotels the very same culture they brought to the welfare housing projects of New Orleans .. one of complete and absolute dependency. A good number of them, perhaps most of those still left in these hotel rooms, will spend the remainder of their days living a life of dependency, a life of plunder.
By the way ... you should know that there are now a few scientists out there
who are predicting a coming mini-ice age. Me? I'll take the warming. REDNECK SCRAP BOOK I guess this is one way to warm up your car. Or set it on fire. More in the Redneck Scrap Book. READING ASSIGNMENTS
Here's an update on what NAACP Chairman Julian Bond said about the Republican Party recently. Evidently he associated the GOP with the Confederate "swastika." That's about as close as you can get to a Nazi without jumping off. Here's one person who understands what to do about terrorists. Russian President Vladimir Putin: "Make pinpoint strikes against them, find them in all the caves where they are hiding, and eliminate them like rats." Sounds good to me! Even the ultra-leftist California Senator Barbara Boxer is begging anti-war nutbar Cindy Sheehan not to run for the United States Senate. It would seem even liberals have their limits. Hillary Clinton is defending a large donation she gave to a pro-life Senate candidate. That's right....Shrillary is backing somebody who is anti-abortion. Gotta appeal to everybody, you know. Speaking of The Hildabeast, she is blasting George W. Bush for the nation's exploding debt and disappearing surplus. She's half right: the president proposes a budget and the Congress spends every cent. John Stossel, a champion of school choice, talks about the uproar in South Carolina over the governor there sending his kids to a private school. Turns out the public schools weren't too good..so why shouldn't people have a choice? For some reason, Democrats get off big-time when it comes to their history with civil rights and race. As Bruce Bartlett points out, it was the Democrats that held onto slavery and clung to the Jim Crow laws of the South. Do people have a right to free medical care, food and housing? Not hardly...Dr. Walter E. Williams says none of those "rights" appear in the U.S. Constitution. But that hasn't stopped liberals from trying to put them there. The mainstream media and the left continually push the notion that the rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer. But Thomas Sowell calls that a myth, and points to some interesting statistics to back things up. Here's a victory for those who believe in the concept of private property. A Pennsylvania court says that the Philadelphia Redevelopment Authority should not have taken a woman's home to hand to a church to build a private school. There's a lesson for our own Supreme Court. | ||
