DEJECTION ON THE LEFT

There is no great joy in the offices of Ted Kennedy,  Chuckie Schumer and other Democrat Senators on Capitol Hill.  Their hopes of derailing the nomination of Samuel Alito seem to be slipping away.  Ditto for the anti-choice zealots out there.  There's good reason for the sense of dejection.  It's not looking good for the left to gain control of either house of congress in the mid-term elections this year, and now they see their swing vote on the Supreme Court slipping away.  For decades liberals have depended on the federal courts, and particularly the Supreme Court, to move their agenda into the realm of law.  The federal courts had been the de facto legislative arm of the Democratic Socialist Party.  Now they're faced with the tough task of having to actually take their anti-individualist, anti-capitalist agenda and present it to the American people for approval.  That's what you have to do when you don't have courts doing your dirty work for you. [watch hearings online]

ABRAMOFF PROBE CATCHING DEMOCRATS

Ever since the plea bargain with corrupt lobbyist Jack Abramoff was announced, the media and the Democrats have done their best to portray this as a Republican controversy.  Abramoff bribed Republican lawmakers like Tom DeLay we're told. This is being used to paint the current House and Senate leadership as corrupt.  That may be true, but what's getting swept under the rug is the two big fish in the Democratic party that Abramoff had on his payroll.

Who are they?  None other than Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid and North Dakota Democrat Byron Dorgan.  What are they accused of doing?  Law enforcement is said to be scrutinizing the two for perhaps performing official acts in exchange for some sort of bribe from Abramoff.  Both have returned large contributions from Indian reservations that Abramoff represented and apparently defrauded.

But will we hear about any of this from the mainstream media? Doubtful.  The story today is in the Washington Times...far from being a left-leaning newspaper.  The next time you see a story about Abramoff, see if the Democrats are mentioned in the article.  Media bias at its finest.

Oh .. and by the way.  What's this about Hillary dumping some Abramoff money a few weeks ago?

THE GOVERNATOR CAN'T CATCH A BREAK

From the files of important issues that have a dramatic effect on your daily life comes this story from California.  You may have read that California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger wrecked his motorcycle over the weekend and had to have 15 stitches put in his lip.  Ouch.  Somebody in his neighborhood hit him.

Then somebody at the LAPD discovered the governor didn't have a motorcycle license.  Schwarzenegger says he never thought about getting one.  After all, riding a bike in the Terminator movies should have been all the license he needed, right?

And so now this story is actually making the rounds on the wires, being reported as if it actually matters.  The celebrity-worshiping media lives on.  Meanwhile, billions of taxpayer dollars are being confiscated in California for one government program or another, and this is what makes news.  Politicians love it.

Schwarzenegger will now head down to the DMV with his fat lip and get his motorcycle license.  He has to pass a skills test.  Should be fun for whoever has to administer that.

REDNECK SCRAP BOOK

Some people think their golf cart should really make a statement. I guess this one shouts "I'm a redneck!" More in the Redneck Scrap Book.

Study says women cheat to improve genetic make-up of offspring.

Al Franken says he won't decide until next year whether or not he'll be running for Senate in his home state of Minnesota.  He recently moved his radio show there.  I bet his fellow residents can't wait.

Hillary Clinton has called the Bush administration "incompetent" when it comes to protecting our troops.  Talk about the pot and the kettle...her husband's administration (which she was running) failed to protect the American people from Islamic terrorism.

This one may be too little, too late.  There are a few Republican congressmen that are calling for a GOP return to core principles.  You know...the one Reagan used to talk about: limited government.  Not these days.

Remember the judge that sentenced the child rapist to only 60 days in jail because he believe punishment no longer worked?  Scott McClellan couldn't be pinned down on whether or not the president thought that was good or bad.

Not only are some people getting by begging for money, they're actually starting to make a pretty affluent lifestyle for themselves.  Don't believe me?  Read on and find out.

Another excellent column from John Stossel: he says government schools don't really have any competition....and as a result, the children are being cheated.  Don't miss this one.

Michelle Malkin takes a look at Hillary Clinton's latest outrage-of-the-month: the supposed lack of body armor for the troops in Iraq.  Just another way The Hildabeast is trying to change her spots.

Remember the story a while back that President Bush had proposed bombing Al-Jazeera in the Iraq war?  Christopher Hitchens takes a look at whether or not that really happened.

The Democrats think they have found a way to defeat Samuel Alito for Supreme Court Justice.  The problem, says Linda Chavez, is that the man bears no resemblance to what they're saying.

The United States policy against Iran right now is very risky, reports Tony Blankley.

Is the rest of the world going to do anything to stop this terrorist state from manufacturing nuclear weapons?

Michelle Malkin has a few thoughts she would like to express about Harry P.O.S. Bellafonte.  Don't come back.  She also gives us a list of Bellafonte's past idiotic statements.

Ever heard of Sister Toldjah?  Here's your link.  Interesting.

Gwinnett County (Georgia) made a little girl cry, with a little help from some 81-year-old WWII veteran.  Here's the story.

"Jennifer Baker" needs to die.  A slow and grisly death would be too good.  Read this and you'll agree.

Islam a "peaceful" religion?  Hardly.  This Christian writer says that the more Muslims read the Quran, the more violent they become.

Being annoying is now against the law. Is this going too far?

WHAT THE HECK ARE THOSE POINTY HAND THINGS?
