Islamic terrorists are holding a young American girl, a reporter for the Christian Science Monitor. They're demanding that the United States release all female prisoners from Iraqi prisons or they'll kill the girl. I've been listening to reports on television of this kidnapping. Not once have I heard any reporter identify the kidnappers as Muslims. We can't do that, you know, because everyone in the world knows that Islam is a religion of peace.
The Supreme Court of the United States has upheld an Oregon law that allows doctors to help terminally ill patients die. Good. But I have a question. As long as you can buy a bottle of aspirin in any convenience store, why do you need to go to a doctor for help? I know, insensitive ... but a valid question nonetheless.
Now Stossel and ABC are getting a good bit of hate mail. No surprise there. The National Education Association (NEA) is warning its members that John Stossel has "a documented history of blatant antagonism toward public [government] schools." Stossel has written a response to the hate mail, and to the NEA. Here's your link. It's a good read ... especially for those of you who react positively to the schools demands for more money. I'm not saying this to be inflammatory, or to stir the puddin'. I'm saying it because I think it to be true. There is no entity in the United States that presents a greater danger to the future of our country than the NEA and other teacher's unions. Not far behind would be the parents in this country who just don't realize, or don't want to realize, what a hideous and horrible job these government schools are doing.
Following criticism he received over his membership in an all-male club at Harvard (despite his criticizing Supreme Court Nominee Samuel Alito for once belonging to another club,) Massachusetts Senator Teddy Kennedy has renounced his 50-year membership in the Owl Club. He calls it "a mistake to continue being affiliated." This after the Senator from Chappaquiddick scolded Alito, saying his "affiliation with an organization that fought the admission of women into Princeton calls into question his appreciation for the need for full equality in this country." And just what has the Owl Club done? Well..let's see. They were kicked off the Harvard campus in 1984 for refusing to admit women. Kennedy's excuse is the same as Alito's....it was something he belonged to while he as at school, but a club he has since abandoned. Sorry..not good enough. If you hold Kennedy to Kennedy's standard...then he's not fit for public office! Oh, and by the way, Kennedy still pays his dues to The Owl Club. So much for it just being something he belonged to in college. If that's so, then why would be still be paying them money and keeping up his membership? Once again...typical Democratic hypocrisy. Do as I say, not as I do. REDNECK SCRAP BOOK Keeping with the water theme, how 'bout that seaplane! More in the Redneck Scrap Book. READING ASSIGNMENTS Michelle Malkin looks at Hillary Clinton's "plantation" comments and says the demagogues come out on Martin Luther King Day. She says the left calls it "minority outreach." This is interesting...James Carville says Hillary Clinton may run for president in 2008....but don't bet the farm on it. He also says the Democratic party has a disease that has been seriously misdiagnosed. So much for filibustering Samuel Alito....Democratic Senator Ben Nelson has come out in favor of Alito's nomination. The Democrats don't seem to be able to stop George Bush's nominees, despite his supposedly being vulnerable. New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin has apologized for his 'Chocolate City' remarks. He said "I need to be more sensitive and more aware of what I'm saying." No kidding...then again, we do enjoy the entertainment value. According to the head of the U.S. Energy Information Administration, disrupting Iran's oil supply to the world market would drive the price way up. Even though we don't import Iranian oil, we buy on the same world market. So we're supposed to just let the mullahs get their nukes, right? Uh..no. Finally...the government has figured out how to get soldiers to re-enlist: money. Active duty soldiers could get $90,000 for re-upping. Not bad. That should improve recruiting. So what does Dr. Walter E. Williams think of the scandal surrounding former Washington lobbyist Jack Abramoff? Not much....he says money in politics is not the main problem. Don't miss this one. Former Iraq Administrator Paul Bremer, who is currently selling a book, says the search for WMD in Iraq took attention away from the mounting insurgency. He says intelligence resources were wasted looking for the weapons. He was there. Laura Bush says she'd love to see Condoleezza Rice run for president. Dick Morris says there's no way she would have said that without it being cleared by the president first. | ||
