Offering a truce with the U.S. military, Bin Laden said "Our situation is getting better and better and your situation is getting worse and worse." Sounds like Cindy Sheehan or Nancy Pelosi, doesn't it? It's not true, of course. If it were, bin Laden wouldn't be talking truce. Then Osama commented on polls. "But I wanted to talk to you because of the lies that have been given to you by your President Bush when he commented on the results of the opinion polls in your country that showed the majority was for the pull out of U.S. forces in Iraq." Bin Laden went on to say Bush should follow those polls. If indeed the voice on the tape is Bin Laden's, then that proves a point that's been being made for a long time. The Islamic terrorists we're fighting in the War On Terror know that the PR war is as important as the shooting and bombing war. When the mainstream media in the United States reports only bad news from Iraq and suppress the good, they are doing the work of Al-Qaeda, plain and simple. Bin Laden smiles. The weird beard's message also, of course, contained the threat of future terrorist attacks: "The reason why we didn't have any such an operation in the United States is not because of security difficulties; the operation will take place and you will see such operations by the grace of God and by the will of God." Now understand the significance of this. Osama Bin Laden, who slaughtered 3,000 innocent people on September 11, 2001, has threatened to attack again. Will people take it seriously? Probably not. That's too bad...because the next attack could be much, much worse. Besides, more Americans can tell you who won the Golden Globes earlier this week than can tell you what was in Osama's latest rant. And finally, Osama concluded with a statement that could have easily been faxed over from the Democratic National Committee: "So you see how Bush was misleading people. The opinion polls are for the pull out and it's important that opinion polls say the people didn't want to fight the Muslims in their land and they didn't want the Muslims to fight them in their land." At least now we know where the left is getting their talking points. Maybe this will wake people up. We are engaged in a struggle for the survival of our American way of life...the struggle against Islamic terrorism. The sooner people realize the threat remains, the better. Sadly, more people care about celebrities, athletes and American Idol than they do about the war we're fighting. Which suits Al-Qaeda just fine.
John Walker Lindh's father made a speech to the Commonwealth Club yesterday, and used the occasion to press for President Bush to grant clemency to his son. Frank Lindh said that his son was a "decent and honorable young man" who was just on a "spiritual quest." Yeah .. that's why he was with the Taliban fighting American troops. Some spiritual quest. Look ... this kid plead guilty to carrying weapons against U.S. forces. Somehow I don't think that decent and honorable young Americans can often be found carrying weapons against U.S. forces. But there's one more element to the story here. Frank Lindh has been watching the news. He knows that the left has been hammering the "torture" bit for two years, so in his quest for clemency for his strange son Lindh is now charging that Johnny Taliban was "tortured" by American troops. Tortured? And just what is the modern-day definition of torture? To the left, handcuffs would suffice, or depriving someone of their afternoon nap. So sad. Frank Lindh also says that "Being viewed through the prism of those attacks has caused this young man to be vilified as a terrorist and a traitor." Boo hoo. Choices are tough things, aren't they? The sentence was for 20 years. Choices have consequences, and for the decision to carry weapons against U.S. forces 20 years in prison is getting off very light. Once again we get an audio tape that is purported to be from Osama bin Laden. Once again the CIA says that the voice on the tape is authentic. Count me as a skeptic. The CIA has become as much a political as an intelligence organization. To some inside the CIA there would be no qualms about supporting the idea that OBL is still alive if doing so would serve certain political interests. By the way ... the FBI isn't so sure about the tape. Maybe they don't have as much of a political axe to grind.
Yesterday Ted Kennedy, perhaps the most repulsive politician in Washington, said that he was going to vote against Samuel Alito because, according to Kennedy, Alito was "itching to overturn Roe v. Wade." Is this a personal issue for Kennedy? Consider the fact that the newest edition of The National Enquirer spins the tale of a Teddy Kennedy love child, a now 21-year-old male name Christopher. The Enquirer story says that Kennedy urged the child's mother to have an abortion, but she refused. Perhaps Kennedy is working to keep his options open in the event of any future indiscretions.
The Bush administration wants to know what you search for on Google! The Bush White House has asked a federal judge to order Google to turn over records detailing all Google searches for a one week period. These records would include who did the searching, and what they were searching for. The stated object here is to fight child pornography. So, if you happened to use Google during the specified week, the U.S. government would have a record of who you are, and just what you were looking for on the Internet, whether or not you looked for porn, child, adult or otherwise. The good news? Thus far Google has refused to turn over the records. If the government wants some records it should go to a judge and get a specific search warrant for a specific computer, not engage on some grand net casting like this.
REDNECK SCRAP BOOK Hey look, another example of a make-shift "truck". Apparently not the onlyone who thinks this sort of thing is a good idea. More in the Redneck Scrap Book.
A 36-year-old lesbian teacher in Florida was sentenced to no jail time....just two years of house arrest and 8 years of probation, for having sexual relations with a 15-year-old student. Would a man have received such a slap on the wrist? Doubtful. Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid has apologized for putting out a list of 33 Republican Senators accusing them of abusing power. He says the letter went too far. Those who live in stone houses shouldn't throw glasses. An independent counsel report on former HUD Secretary Henry Cisneros, who
served in the Clinton administration,
accuses the Clinton White House of obstructing the investigation.
Naturally, since the report yesterday criticizes a Democratic president, the
media ignored it. Imagine if the report had been about the Reagan
administration. Russian woman seeks sex partner to help her beat cancer. Cool plane crash test footage from NASA. What Neal couldn't say on the air...the versatility of the word f*ck. | ||
