Today's Neal Boortz Show comes to you from New York City! I'm just here to see if Sean will invite me on his TV show tonight, or maybe he'll take me out for a steak at Del Fusco's! By the way ... just in case you care .. if you're staying in lower Manhattan I would suggest that Newark airport is a better choice than that LaGuardia hell-hole.
Well ... at least the Democrats have that "culture of corruption" thing to run on. But wait! ... there's $90,000 in William Jefferson's freezer that says that won't work. Plus .. the Congressional Black Caucus is defending him? Corruption? Clean the green fuzz out of your own refrigerator first. Gas prices? People are actually starting to realize that there are market forces at work here that Bush has, and should have no control over. No, if the Bush Administration rights the ship in Iraq, the Democrats are done...and they know it. So they responded accordingly yesterday. Nancy Pelosi, House Minority Leader and Speaker-in-waiting, said yesterday Zarqawi's death changes nothing. In fact, she responded with a quote that could have come right off an Islamic hate website: "Several hours after Zarqawi's death, 19 Iraqis were killed and 40 were wounded in a roadside bombing in Baghdad." Pelosi, along with most of her kook leftist buddies, are banking on American defeat in Iraq. Some Democrats are so upset that Bush is getting some positive help from al-Zarqawi's death that they're actually claiming that the whole thing was nothing but a stunt. Congressman Pete Stark from California said that Bush had al-Zarqawi killed to cover for the deaths of civilians in Iraq and to boost his poll numbers. I guess we could laugh at Stark, if he wasn't so completely pathetic. If al-Zarqawi remains free Bush takes the heat for not being able to find him. If al-Zarqawi is killed, Bush takes the heat for trying to divert attention from his sagging poll numbers. This just goes to show the depths to which Democrats and the left will sink to feed their hatred of George Bush .. hatred fueled by the election of 2000. And as for whether or not Zarqawi was an important hit....absolutely he was. This is the guy who ran Al-Qaeda's operations in Iraq. Yet here are Democrats...downplaying it as symbolic. They call rubbing out Zarqawi symbolism, yet whine about how Osama Bin Laden hasn't been caught. This despite the fact that Osama is sitting in a cave somewhere in Pakistan doing absolutely nothing. Which one is it, fellas? Make up your minds already. Any more good news from Iraq, and Democrats may get really desperate. Maybe they'll strap on an AK-47 and join the insurgency. Michael Berg, a Pennsylvania man whose son Nick Berg was killed in Iraq by Zarqawi, is unhappy these days. If you remember, Nick Berg was the kid whose head Zarqawi sawed off with a dull kitchen knife, then posted the video on the Internet. Now that Zarqawi is dead, you would think Michael Berg would feel a little justice for his son. After all, his son supported the war in Iraq and believed that being there was right. But that's not how the mind of a fringe leftist operates. You see, everything is fair game for politics...even the memory of a loved one. Just ask Cindy Sheehan. So Michael Berg is once again hijacking his son's legacy for his own publicity and political cause. On the news of Zarqawi's death, Michael Berg was most unhappy. He even had some rather soft language for the killer of his own son, saying "I don't think that Zarqawi is himself responsible for the killings of hundreds of thousands of people in Iraq. I think George Bush is." This is how liberals think, folks. Making sausage. Not a pretty sight. Michael Berg's hatred of George W. Bush is more important than his the memory of his son, a young man now dead at the hands of an Islamic terrorist. But Berg's praise for his son's killer didn't stop there: "George Bush is the one that invaded this country, George Bush is the one that destabilized it so that Zarqawi could get in, so that Zarqawi had a need to get in, to defend his region of the country from American invaders." Unbelievable. Oh..and Michael Berg seems sad that Zarqawi died at all, saying "I have no sense of relief, just sadness that another human being had to die." I wonder if he'll be a pallbearer at Zarqawi's funeral? His son would be so proud.
The Congressional Black Caucus is in a bit of a bind these days. One of their own, Louisiana Democratic Congressman William Jefferson had his office raided, his home searched and was caught on tape accepting a $100,000 cash bribe. In fact, $90,000 of it was found in his freezer. No word on the fate of the other ten grand...perhaps household expenses. Who knows. Many members, including some Democrats, have called on Jefferson to step down. Some are saying he should step down from any committee assignments while others are saying he should leave Congress altogether. That may all be a moot point, as he is sure to be indicted at any minute. Of course, a trial would take awhile...and he could stay in Congress right up until he's hauled off to jail. But now the Congressional Black Caucus is asking where the presumption of innocence is for Jefferson. They say we shouldn't rush to judgment. They don't think anything should happen to Jefferson at all. Very interesting. I seem to recall quite a different stance being taken by Democrats when it came to Tom DeLay. They wanted him to step down right away....where was Tom DeLay's presumption of innocence? DeLay hasn't been convicted of anything. Why did he have to go? The answer is DeLay is a Republican and Jefferson is a Democrat. DeLay is automatically guilty of whatever he's accused of and Jefferson is going to be innocent no matter what happens. And Tom DeLay didn't even have $90,000 in his freezer. I wonder how many members of the Congressional Black Caucus think O.J. didn't do it?
Wow! Awesome! Well done! Now that's some good writing, don't you think? This one is designed to prevent cervical cancer, a huge killer. It can also block infections by viruses that cause genital warts. This particular virus is spread by skin-to-skin contact. It's called the human papillomavirus, and it's the most common sexually transmitted infection in our country ... and there's the rub (so to speak). The FDA is approving this drug, Gardasil, over the objections of some religious zealots who believe that if there's a vaccine that guards against a sexually transmitted disease, it will cause more people to have sex. Well, isn't that just all warm and touchy-feely? Don't you just love the idea that we have people out there who want to punish sexual conduct with disease, possibly even cancer?
Now .. yesterday I made a mistake, and you wouldn't believe the volume of the email correcting me. I said that Stone Cold Steve Austin was the professional wrestler who once said: "know your role and shut your mouth." Well, I was wrong. It was actually The Rock. OK, I stand corrected. Now, if you will, I would like to express my dismay, though not my surprise, that such a huge number of people seem to be prepared to correct a quote involving a professional wrestler. What if I mistakenly attributed a quote to Tony Blair or Condi Rice? Duhhhhhhh. There is just a fantastic editorial that ran in the New York Times a few
days ago-"Block the Vote, Ohio Remix"--about Republicans and their wily attempts to squelch voter registration efforts in Ohio. As a feisty
election season draws near, liberals are already complaining that Republicans are cheating. Who knew you could cheat before the games began? REDNECK SCRAP BOOK Yet another regulation mailbox, I'm sure. It gets better when Farkers have a go at it. More in the Redneck Scrap Book. READING ASSIGNMENTS
UN Ambassador John Bolton is not letting the UN's second in command get away with his America-bashing comments. He says they need to apologize or their funding will be cut. It's about time somebody reign in these bureaucrats. Ann Coulter is getting it from all sides over her comments about 9/11 widows. But Kevin McCullough comes to her defense...and says she is absolutely, 100% right. In poll after poll, John McCain shows up as one of the Republican frontrunners for 2008. But Pat Buchanan warns that McCain is in trouble...because his positions are out of step with his party and the country. Here's a transcript from Tom DeLay's farewell speech on the floor of the House yesterday. Some 20 Democrats got up and walked out in the middle of it. That's not very nice, is it? Charles Krauthammer argues against the Constitutional amendment banning gay marriage, saying it is simply not needed. Of course it was never going to pass anyway, coming up way, way short in the Senate. Some Democrats are running around saying Zarqawi's death doesn't really matter. Christopher Hitchens begs to differ, explaining why it does indeed matter. Al Gore has been promoting his movie, 'An Inconvenient Truth,' about global warming. But Mark Davis says Gore's "truth" is more like science fiction. David Limbaugh points out how liberals have been caught in a lie. On the one hand, they say the killing of Zarqawi is symbolic.....but they lament the fact that Osama Bin Laden hasn't been caught yet. This despite the fact that Zarqawi ran Al-Qaeda's operations in Iraq and Osama isn't doing anything. Mona Charen notes the difference between the newspapers yesterday...printed before Zarqawi was killed...and the radio and TV coverage. She says the papers were predicting the failure of the war in Iraq. | ||
