NEAL OUT

I'm off today playing golf with some friends on some desert courses in Arizona. I did log on to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution this morning to find that the City of Atlanta has followed DeKalb County's lead and instituted a total watering ban. No watering. Period. Sooooo .... I thought I would just take the chance on behalf of Atlanta property owners --- who are going to lose perhaps millions of dollars worth of landscaping --- to thank the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for their arrogance and typical government ineptness in draining Lake Lanier of several months worth of water that could have been used by the residents of the metro Atlanta area. If you characters had climbed down off your high horse and listened to the people who live around Lake Lanier it is very likely this situation wouldn't have developed. Way to go. Just leave it to government.

And now, some Nuze from the staff.

FBI NABS 7 ISLAMIC TERRORISTS

People who regularly work at and visit the Sears tower in Chicago and the FBI headquarters in Miami can breathe a sigh of relief this morning.  The FBI picked up seven people, one of whom allegedly had taken an oath to serve Al-Qaeda.  Apparently 1 of the men was arrested some time before yesterday, another was picked up in Atlanta and the rest in Miami.  A warehouse was raided and a neighborhood cordoned off.  Reports are that some of the men had surveyed their targets and taken photos.  A news conference today by the FBI should clean up most of the facts.

So another terrorist attack has been foiled.  Perhaps now those that believe there is no terrorist threat...that the whole War On Terror is just a mirage...will reconsider their positions.  By most accounts, these 7 men were radical Muslims...a sort of Al-Qaeda cell in waiting.  Just what exactly were they planning on doing to the Sears Tower?  Blow it up?  Fly airplanes into it?  I'm sure it wouldn't have been pretty.

This just proves one thing...that there continue to be people out there that want to kill as many Americans as possible.  After all, that is the stated goal of Al-Qaeda and they're never going to stop.  They killed 3,000 people on 9/11 and are going to be looking for a bigger score.  Think something like that couldn't happen in your neck of the woods?  When was the last time you went to a large sporting event?  As big public shopping mall?

The terrorist threat in this country is real...and it's not a question of if they will attack, but when.  It's nice to know at least these 7 have been taken off the street.

MORE GOOD NEWS FROM IRAQ

There's more good news from Iraq today.  It's not even been two weeks since a U.S. military jet dropped two 500-pound bombs on Zarqawi's head and sent him to his desert sand nap, and already somebody else has been captured.  We don't have a name, but reports are that a senior Al-Qaeda cell leader in Iraq has been captured.  One more down, many more to go.

It would seem that the tide is turning in Iraq....as we continue to crush the insurgency.  But don't expect the Democrats to jump on board just yet.  We could capture the entire Al-Qaeda cell in Iraq, and that wouldn't be good enough.  John Murtha and Nancy Pelosi would immediately go on 'Meet The Press' and announce that the insurgency was going to come back stronger.  Because remember, it is the Democratic Party in the United States that is rooting for the failure of America in Iraq.  Their political lives depend on it.

Once the war ends and the troops start coming home, the left will keep harping.  They'll wonder aloud whether or not it was worth it. They'll blame Bush for not pulling the troops out sooner.  But the good news is the American people are wising up to their game.  While they may not be pleased with how the war was handled, the public does not support cutting and running and they most certainly do support the troops.

EARTH HOTTEST IT'S BEEN IN 2,000 YEARS

The headlines are screaming today that thanks to global warming, the Earth is now hotter than it's been in 2,000 years!  Boy, we've really screwed up the planet, haven't we?  It's now supposedly warmer than it was when Jesus was hanging around.  According to something called "The National Academy of Sciences," using climate data for the last 200 years they have decided that humans are responsible for making the Earth hotter than it's been in the last 2,000 years.

That's right...the temperature data barely goes back 200 years...and now they know how hot the Earth was 2,000 years ago?  That's strike one. Supposedly they used data gathered from tree rings, lake sediments and so forth to determine how hot it was all that time ago.  But that is an educated guess and not fact.  And by the way, buried at the end of the news story is a fact the global warming fanatics don't want you to know.

The overall temperature of the Northern Hemisphere only rose 1 degree in the 20th century.  1 degree! That's some global warming.

REDNECK SCRAP BOOK

I guess that's one way to get your car washed... More in the Redneck Scrap Book.

READING ASSIGNMENTS

Saddam Hussein has ended his hunger strike...after skipping just a single meal.
That's not much of a hunger strike...sort of reminds you of some of Jesse Jackson's hunger strikes.  Maybe there was no hunger strike at all...perhaps it was just leftovers day.

Katie Couric, who is scheduled to take over the CBS Evening News anchor chair this fall, is going on a national tour to find out what people want on their evening newscast.  Here's a start: no political bias, no cooking segments and definitely no perkiness.  Now get to work.

The Bush Administration was unsuccessful at stopping media stories about a government program that tracks global financial transfers. The New York Times and the L.A. Times both turned down the government's request to withhold their reports. An interesting debate...where does the public's right to know begin and end?

John Kerry's proposal to pull all of the troops out of Iraq was opposed in 2003...by The Poodle himself.  sKerry criticized the very strategy he is now supporting while on the campaign trail.  Sort of like voting for the war before he voted against it.

John Bolton, the no-nonsense US ambassador to the UN, says Iran and North Korea face a choice.  They can either come to the table and talk about their nuclear programs, or face the consequences.  Outstanding...perhaps Mr. Bolton would like to run for president in a couple years.

Ann Coulter went on Neil Cavuto's show yesterday on Fox News and said the Democrats should win this fall.
She says this should be their 1994....they ought to pick up enough seats in both houses of Congress and take back control.  If they don't win, Coulter says they may as well throw in the towel and rename the party.

Senior Bush administration officials have announced for the first time that they will shoot down any missile launch by North Korea that might threaten the United States.  Now how about going just a step further and blowing up their entire military infrastructure?

Charles Krauthammer declares his love for Australia in today's column.
He explains it's because Australians don't hold back....they let the fur fly, saying exactly what is on their mind.

Professor Mike Adams takes on the administration at the University of North Carolina today and wonders if they're up to their old tricks again.  In fact, he's publicly accusing them of lying.

Mona Charen takes a look back at the Democrats who voted to authorize military action against Iraq
4 years ago.  Did you know that 81 Democrats in the House alone voted for it?  That's a lot.

Neal talked about this and now you can watch it. See News/Talk 750 WSB's night time host Chris Krok voluntarily take a taser hit. [google video]
