GLOBAL WARMING
It looks like global warming is quickly moving to front
and center as the big story right now. Magazines, newspapers, movies,
television ... all full of specials on the grave threat to all mankind posed by
the horrible global warming that is consuming our planet even as we speak.
I read one column over the weekend warning the Wall Street financiers of New
York City to become really involved in the global warming menace because, after
all, their precious Wall Street will be under water within 40 years if they
don't.
Since the media is relentlessly harping on the global
warming theme, we're going to go ahead at the Boortz show and do our homework.
We'll read as much as the available material as we can get our hands on, and
will make sure that we get information from scientists who actually work in this
field and who do not work for the government. Those of you who listen to
the show know that I'm skeptical of this whole global warming frenzy .. but I'll
try to keep an open mind here. In the meantime ... here are just a few little factoids
for you to play around with, factoids that cause me to doubt that whatever
global warming we're experiencing can be blamed on the actions of man. - The sun is hotter. Period. This fact cannot
be denied. The sun is going through a lengthy period of increased
activity that causes it to radiate more heat into space. Is it really
that hard to believe that a hotter sun would lead to a hotter earth?
- Our polar ice caps are melting? Sure looks like
it. But .. the polar ice caps on Mars are melting also. So, are we to
believe that this is caused by man on the Earth but by the hotter sun on Mars?
- And while we're talking about ice caps melting, it's
worth noting that the ice pack in the heart of Antarctica is actually getting
thicker!
- Scientific data clearly shows that the Earth has
undergone warming and cooling cycles for millions of years. Why, all of
a sudden, does a warming cycle just have to be caused by the actions of man?
- Scientists who work on government grants are more
inclined to blame global warming on the actions of man than are scientists who
do not depend on continued government (political) funding.
- And just how much warmer has our atmosphere become in
the last 100 years? One degree. That's it. Just one degree.
- Many of the people who are so involved in promoting the
man-made global warming theme are people who are also involved in
anti-capitalist movements. So, what is their true goal? Do they
want to solve the global warming problem, or do they want to cripple the
capitalist systems they so hate?
- The U.S. Senate snubbed the Kyoto treaty by a vote of
99-0. This was during the Clinton years! What did these 99
senators know about the Kyoto Accords that we don't know?
- Speaking of the Kyoto accords, they would severely
impact the U.S. economy, but would leave China absolutely alone! China
has one of the fastest growing economies in the world. Since a huge
number of Kyoto proponents can also be called anti-American, could this cause
you to wonder what the true goal of Kyoto is?
- And just how many years ago was it that these very same
scientists were warming us about the earth getting cooler?
That's just a start. More to come later. They
want to discuss global warming? Fine! No holds barred. FLAG BURNING AMENDMENT
Well ... you can sure tell it's an election year.
The U.S. Senate will take up a constitutional amendment today to, as they say,
make desecration of the U.S.
flag a crime. If this passes, this will be
the first amendment proposed to the states since prohibition that is written to
tell the people of this country what they can't do, instead of telling
government what it can't do.
Burning a flag is an act of political speech. It
should not be illegal to express your feelings by burning a flag ... unless it's
someone else's flag you're destroying, or you're violating some sort of a local
ordinance relating to public safety. THE UNITED NATIONS AND YOUR RIGHT TO OWN A GUN
You need to know that the United Nations is convening a
conference about small arms. Many are concerned that the ultimate purpose
of this UN effort is to effect a worldwide ban on the ownership of guns by
anybody but governments. I read a story this morning which said that the
UN was holding this conference out of concern that guns might be used to deny
human rights around the world. Well, if governments own all the guns, you
can count on it. The truth is that one of the best ways to preserve human
rights (whatever those are) is to allow individuals to own firearms for their
own protection. We'll keep an eye on this one. There is only one
thing about the United Nations on which you can depend. It will always be
anti-individual rights and anti-American. DEMOCRATS HIJACK
GENERAL'S PLAN
 General George W. Casey Jr.
| Democrats are quivering with excitement
over the revelation yesterday that the top general in Iraq wants
a phased
withdrawal of troops. To them, this is confirmation that they have been right
all along. See! Even the big cheese in Iraq agrees with our cut and run
strategy! Well, not so fast.
The plan, according to the New York
Times, that General George Casey is advocating calls for 7,000 troops to be sent
home this September and 20,000 sent home by the end of 2007. Senator Barbara
Boxer weighed in: "Here we have a situation where Democrats, 80 percent of us,
voted to say we ought to start reducing our troop presence there -- and again,
we got pummeled. And now, it turns out, we're in synch with General Casey."
Dream on, lady. Not even close.
First of all, Casey's plan is a gradual
drawdown of troops based on the conditions on the ground. That's a plan that
could chance. Second, he's calling for sending home just a portion of the
troops...around 22% This isn't even in the same league with what the left
wants. They want a complete and total withdrawal. All 127,000 soldiers just
get up and walk out of Iraq...within the next year or so.
Senator Boxer is a politician, General
Casey is the commanding general in a war. Who do you want determining how many
troops are needed in Iraq?
SADDAM LINK TO
AL-QAEDA: CONFIRMED
One of the "facts' used to attack the
Bush Administration by the left and the mainstream media is that we invaded Iraq
without a single shred of evidence that Saddam had anything to do with
terrorism. Specifically, people point out that Iraq had nothing to do with
Al-Qaeda and 9/11. Well, now we have evidence that not only was Saddam Hussein
interested in terrorism, but he was actually
working deals with Al-Qaeda.
According to recently declassified
documents, Saddam established contact with not only the Taliban in Afghanistan
(where Osama Bin Laden was based when 9/11 went down, remember?) but also other
jihadists based in the Middle East. And here's the kicker: Saddam also held
discussions with an Al-Qaeda operative about establishing jihadi training
centers, maybe even in Baghdad. So there it is...proof that Saddam had links to
Al-Qaeda.
Add this to the disclosure last week
that Saddam Hussein's Weapons of Mass Destruction were found...and where does
that leave liberals who say Bush invaded Iraq based on a lie? What lie? Some WMD's were found...the link to Al-Qaeda has been established...what more do they
want? The answer is they want America to fail in Iraq, so they can pin it on
George W. Bush and the Republicans.
Every American success in Iraq spells
trouble for the left. Howard Dean probably had a little memorial service for
Zarqawi at a secret DNC location a couple weeks ago.
MOONBAT MURTHA AT IT
AGAIN
Ex- Marine and Pennsylvania Congressman
John Murtha was at it again this past weekend. Speaking to a gathering in
Miami, Murtha said that America's presence in Iraq was
more dangerous to the
world than North Korea or Iran. That's right...our troops are a worse threat
than The Gargoyle or the Islamofascists that run things in Iran. This means
that Murtha thinks that the United States is the greatest threat to peace in the
entire world!
Murtha has clearly crossed a line...but
does it matter? Will his constituents boot him from office this Fall, or is
Murtha as bulletproof (in an electoral sense) as Jihad Cindy .. the beloved
Cynthia McKinney of Georgia?. One would think that this man's descent into
depravity has to take a toll, sooner or later.
But really, what exactly is Murtha doing?
Is it possible that he's just running cars into the parking lot for the
Democratic leadership to see if it dents any fenders? They give him
their talking points and trial balloons, and he goes out to see what works and
what doesn't.
He's already being called the new Cindy
Sheehan, named after the fellow moonbat and anti-war Mom who camps out at
President Bush's ranch. But just like Sheehan, Murtha should expect to be
thrown under the bus by the Democrats when they're done with him. Until that
happens, John Murtha just looks like an out of touch, sad, old man who's lost
his mind. For more on Moonbat Murtha ..
here's an
entertaining column from John Fund. David McLees is showing his support of the FairTax...are you?

READING ASSIGNMENTS
For those of you who long for the Clinton years .. and for the few of you who
actually buy into this absurd idea that Clinton was one of our greatest
presidents, perhaps you would enjoy reading what his own FBI Director had to say
about Clinton's
handling of the Khobar Towers episode.
Saddam Hussein says he believes the United States will turn to him for help
in dealing with the problems of Iraq. He even seems delusional enough to think
he'll be put back in power. Perhaps he dreamed this up during his single-meal
fast.
The leftist appeasement crowd is coming
out of the woodwork on this North Korea business.
Leading the charge for direct talks with The Gargoyle is well-known bedwetter
Chuck Hagel, (alleged) Republican of
Nebraska.
DNC Chairman Howard Dean is accusing George Bush of turning American troops into
targets in Iraq. Of course, Democrats only
care about American troops when they need to stir up sympathy. And following
their plan..cutting and running...would turn the entire United States into a
target.
Congressman Peter Hoekstra and Senator Rick Santorum point out that Saddam's
WMDs have been found, yet for some reason,
the intelligence community is holding back on the confirmation.
The New York Times, the leftist bible of
the mainstream media, seems to be advocating national security policies that
would harm America.
Michael Barone wants to know why the Times seems to hate this country so much.
Coming out against the War On Drugs
isn't a popular thing to do...but increasingly more conservatives are starting
to have questions about drug prohibition.
Debra Saunders says Congress should respect the rights of states and legalize
medical marijuana.
The Democrats are using a fancy new
phrase for surrender in Iraq: they're calling it "redeployment."
Mark Steyn argues otherwise and says there's no way to redeploy our way out of
Iraq.
The Voting Rights Act is up for
renewal.
Star Parker says that while it was a centerpiece of the civil rights movement,
the Voting Rights Act is no panacea.
Professor Mike Adams continues his one-man campaign against the University of
North Carolina (where, by chance, he
happens to work.) Today he takes UNC administrators to task for lying to a
preacher.
The online magazine Slate is celebrating
it's tenth anniversary and one of its articles assails President Bush for being
a moron.
William F. Buckley takes the writer to task. This girl probably should have brought her fear of pickles to Dr. Phil rather
than Maury. Can't imagine Dr. Phil
chasing her
around with a tray of pickles...[video] What question do you think Neal has about this paragraph in
an Atlanta Business Chronicle article: "Multiplying millionaires will
dramatically alter the way Atlantans live, shop, bank and give back over the
next several years?" |
