DEAN SAYS GOP BASHING IMMIGRANTS

Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean is accusing the Republican party of bashing immigrants.  Says the esteemed Dr. Dean: "Immigrant bashing and scapegoating is wrong in order to win elections and we're not going to do it."  It sounds so good, doesn't it?  But as is often the case with Democrats and the things that they say...it just isn't true.

Nobody is scapegoating immigrants.  What he really means is the GOP and others are standing up for the rule of law!.  When you sneak into this country, and stay here, and work here, you're breaking the law.  Pointing this out is not scapegoating.  It's merely calling it like it is, something the left seems to be frightened of.   So why would Howard Dean say such a thing?  Bingo! You guessed it...he was speaking to a Hispanic group.  Something called the "League of United Latin American Citizens."  .

You see, political strategists see illegal aliens as an untapped resource.  They're coming here by the millions...multiplying...and nothing is being done about making them leave.  Illegal aliens can register in a lot of places and vote.  Politicians of both parties, Howard Dean among them, know this.  So they pander to Hispanic groups...also known as Hispandering.

Which is why nothing is really being done about the problem of illegal aliens. I'm not sure what Howard Dean is talking about...if the Republicans were really illegal immigrant bashing, perhaps something might be done about the problem.

It's people like Howard Dean that are using immigrants, not Republicans. If only they would realize that.

KATRINA LOOTERS GET 15 YEARS

Today we highlight a ruling by Judge Hans Lijeberg from the 24th Judicial District Court in Louisiana.  He sentenced three people convicted of post-Katrina looting...to 15 years in the slammer.  And what were these people looting?  27 bottles of liquor and wine, six cases of beer and one case of wine coolers.  15 years is the maximum for looting during a state of emergency.

So that was the law and the judge enforced it.  But the attorneys are already whining...calling the sentence excessive.  Oh my!  The poor looters!  They're being punished!   The anti-looting law, which took effect 2 weeks before Katrina hit, provides for the 15-year penalty.  Why should the judge have shown leniency?  Were these starving people stealing loaves of bread and gallons of milk from a grocery store?  Nope...beer, wine and liquor...not exactly in any of the four food groups.  I guess they just couldn't find a flat-screen TV anywhere.  Probably all gone.

It's about time somebody threw the book at these losers who think a tragedy is time to go shopping with a five finger discount.  And one more thing...the news story doesn't mention the race of those involved, but how long before we hear accusations of racism?  Jesse Jackson is no doubt warming up his rent-a-mob just in case.

ISRAEL CRACKS SOME HEADS

Ever since the Islamic terrorist group Hamas took over in the Palestinian territories, things have steadily gone downhill between Israel and the now Islamic terrorist-led Palestinian people.  Of course, you won't see the mainstream media in this country or any other call them terrorists.  They use weasel words like "gunmen" or "militants."  God forbid we should actually call somebody what they are.

So what has Israel so upset?  The Islamic terrorists of Hamas have been holding an Israeli soldier for 4 days.  So the tanks are rolling in and the planes flying overhead.  Israeli troops are also making arrests.  But the Palestinians are upset about all this.  According to one of their negotiators, "I think that Israeli attempts to bargain through bombardment of power stations and bridges and arrests of parliamentarians and ministers is just adding to the complexities."  Adding to the complexities?  What?  Aren't they the ones who took an Israeli soldier hostage?  In what context is that not an act of war?  Bargaining?  How about this bargain?  Give us our soldier back or we're going to kill a whole mess of you Islamic terrorist bastards.

The White House is responding to this by saying Israel has a right to defend itself, but should be careful about hurting civilians.  All of this points out why the "Mideast peace process" is a fantasy.  The only time you truly have peace is following a military victory.  It's time to fully unleash Israel...and bring the terrorists in the Palestinian territories to their knees. 

Once they surrender, then they can negotiate the terms of their existence.  There's your peaceful end to the conflict.

THE RESULTS OF GOVERNMENT EDUCATION

Just how absurd can the arguments over a flag-burning amendment get?  Believe me, I should be recognized as an expert on that subject, given the emails I've received over the past 24 hours. 

Yesterday in the Nuze and on the air I made it crystal clear that I do not support the flag burning amendment.  Though I love this country, and its flag, I consider the act of burning or desecrating an American flag to be an expression of outrage against this country.  Such expressions are protected under our First Amendment. 

Now ... get this!  Web Guy forwarded some listener emails to me last evening that had  common theme; a theme so completely absurd I wondered if they were all written by the same idiot using different email addresses.  The common theme was that the First Amendment only protects free speech.  Burning a flag is not speech, and is therefore not protected.  Only spoken words are protected under the free speech clause. 

So .. .there you go.  If a person is unable to talk they forfeit their free speech rights under our constitution.  They can't wave their fist.  They can't carry picket signs.  If they want to make their feelings known, they have to speak up or shut up.  Oh, I guess they could write a letter to the editor and manage to get some freedom of the press protections there ... but that would be about their only option.

What else can I say but .... your government schools at work.

SO CRUSHINGLY IMPORTANT THAT I SIMPLY DON'T KNOW WHAT TO SAY

Every once in a great while we get a news story that is so stupendously important that I feel completely incapable of even talking about it.  Stories like this require an extended period of research and contemplation, perhaps even counseling, before one can even begin to discuss them on a talk radio show.  So ... I'm just going to tell you what the astounding news is, then let you go ahead and ponder this life-changing event.  Here you go.  Ready?  Moonbat Cindy Sheehan is going to go on a two month fast.  It's going to start right after her birthday party on July 4th.  Next thing you know the magnetic poles are going to swap off.

ON GERRYMANDERING AND THE SUPREME COURT

Gerrymandering. The word is almost as funny as the concept. But the Supreme Court ruled the Tom DeLay inspired redistricting plan of Texas to be constitutional. [pdf]

Tough luck for Democrats this time.  You lost this sorry attempt to gain seats in November. Here's a thought: quit your whining and go get a part platform that is fit for Americans instead of the socialist "for the people" crap that may work in third would countries.  

It should be noted that this decision is a double-edged sword.  Democrats can also play the redistricting game as soon as they gain control of a state legislature.  When that happens you can expect Republicans to howl.

What we really need here is some sort of a law which requires congressional districts to be as geographically cohesive as possible.  You don't draw little lines on a map chasing different ethnicities around the state in order to build black, Hispanic or white districts.  Several years ago in Georgia we had a district that began in predominately black areas of Augusta.  The Democrats wanted to include black neighborhoods in Savannah also, this to insure the election of a black representative.  To accomplish this goal they drew the district boundaries so as to include a small strip right smack down the Savannah river from Augusta to Savannah.  The district line started in the middle of the river  and went to the Georgia shoreline.  The magic here was that nobody lived in the river, so there was no fear of adding too many non-black voters to the mix as the district meandered downriver to the black neighborhoods of Savannah. This sort of nonsense is an affront to our Constitution.  But then again, in this day and age, what isn't?

This Supreme Court decision allows for redistricting to occur whenever state legislatures choose, rather than every 10 years as it has traditionally been. Remember when Tom DeLay received hell from democrats after redrawing the lines in Texas after the 2000 census? Do you remember why? Because it violated the equal protection laws and took away opportunities for Latinos. Were the Hispanics that the Democrats were so worried about all legal voters?  Hardly.  Many were here illegally, though that makes no difference to Democrats. Remember ... the primary Democrat goal in pushing for amnesty for the Latino invasion force is .... VOTES!

Now someone needs to follow up with an attempt to remove all considerations of race from the creation of congressional districts.  Make them as plain and geographically simple as possible.  What a concept!

READING ASSIGNMENTS

Billionaire investor Warren Buffet, the second-richest man, made headlines recently for giving away the majority of his fortune to charity.  The media is doing stories about how Buffet is "giving back," as if the money really wasn't his to begin with.  The Talkmaster responds in the latest Townhall column.

One of the sales pitches for campaign finance reform was that it would help prevent corruption.  However, as George Will tells us, campaign finance reform is in itself a form of political corruption.  How can that be?  Read on to find out.

College professors have to undergo an annual review by their peers, something Professor Mike Adams says is frequently used to persecute him for his conservative beliefs. He says things are especially bad in his department at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.

Ann Coulter takes on the New York Times, calling them treasonous, and wonders when the Bush Administration is going to actually do something about it.  He says they sound upset, but aren't taking action for fear of upsetting their press coverage.

The Euro-weenies seem quite upset about our Islamic terrorist detention center down in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.  But Victor Davis Hanson says the prisoners there are probably treated better than most in European prisons.

Bill Clinton is upset that some are suggesting the presidential primary calendar be changed.  The reason he says is because it served him well.  The real reason is because his wife is running in 2008...and they have the current setup all figured out.

Liberals are quite upset with Hillary Clinton over her support for the flag burning amendment.  How could she support such a thing?  Well, it's all part of her strategy to hide her ultra-leftist beliefs...or, as Dick Morris calls it, triangulation.

Oh now hold on just a durn minute there.  The New York Times is reporting that Google now wants to keep track of your credit card numbers and where you live. Good business move or big brother in the making?
