| Friday -- March 10, 2006 It looks like Air America is having financial problems again . I guess that's what happens when you actually have to pay radio stations to carry your programs. I've heard that Al Franken & Co. has to pay about $1,000,000 a year to the station that carries them in Los Angeles. But -- rest assured: If Air America is having a tough time it certainly isn't because people just aren't listening. It's not because people get tired of the 24/7 ranting of far-left talk show hosts, many of who have tried to make it on actual commercial viable radio stations, but couldn't. Nope .. Air America's troubles are all the fault of the evil right-wingers. Danny Goldberg is the CEO of Air America .. he says "In almost all cases, the people who say bad things about our company's business are conservative ideologues who have a particular interest in damaging Air America," By the way, if you like conservative talk radio, you have every reason to want to keep Air America on the air. Democrats and assorted socialists are more than anxious to use the power of government to shut down talk radio ... Air America gives us breathing room. The Republicans may have saved their majority in the House. They told George Bush that there was just no way on this globe that an Islamic government was going to gain control over the operation of facilities in six of our most important points. Bush finally got the message, conveyed it to Dubai Ports World, and the deal is dead. House republicans now look stronger for having stood up to a president who, somehow, just couldn't read the public on this issue. Democrats were so dismayed over the withdrawal of Dubai Ports World that they resorted to making themselves look foolish. There they were in the US Senate yesterday demanding an up or down vote on a deal that was already dead. All for show. They know that the Republicans strengthened their position yesterday by making Bush back down, and they were desperately looking for a way to get the issue back. Wonderful, exciting times ahead for talk radio. How can you top this? You have the situation with Iran. Democrats have so weakened us in the Middle East that we may be unable to respond to Iran's nuclear threat militarily. We have the upcoming mid-term elections, next year's presidential primaries, a Hillary candidacy, a presidential election ..... all with the backdrop of a worldwide Islamic jihad. What more could we ask for? Golly! And to think I could still be out there practicing law! The San Francisco Chronicle says that the collapse of the ports deal was a victory for the "politics of fear." This is from a left-wing newspaper in a city that bans the ownership of any and all firearms. Who's afraid? The Chronicle says that the fear of terrorists in general, and Arab Muslims in particular, has been the driving force of American politics since 9/11. Duhhhhhhh. Do you want some good news for today? The sale of carbonated soft drinks is down for the first time since 1985. There is no way these drinks are anything but harmful to your health. You ladies ... do you have any idea what the consumption of carbonated drinks does to your bone strength? Combine this with yesterday's news that cigarette sales are down --- way down --- the lowest level since 1951 --- and it would appear that Americans are actually beginning to care about their own health. A group of doctors have signed a petition condemning the United States for force-feeding prisoners at Guantanamo who were on hunger strikes. The UN calls the force-feeding "torture." There's no way the US can win on this. If these detainees are allowed to kill themselves through starvation you can bet that these very same doctors, together with the rancid United Nations, would be lining up to condemn the US for their deaths. Illinois is having a bit of a problem over a hate crimes commission empanelled by Governor Rod Blagojevich. One of the members named by the governor to serve is "Sister" Claudette Muhammad, the chief of protocol for Louis Farrakhan's so-called "Nation of Islam." The commission is turning into a joke. Hopefully some people in Illinois will come to the realization that this hate crimes commission is all about finding ways to criminalize thought. That's where we're heading, my friends. Hate crimes laws are just the beginning to a wholesale effort to criminalize thought processes. Anyone out there ever read 1984?
Having said that ... I do want to express my distaste for the seemingly newfound practice of having custom printed banners behind politicians, Republicans and Democrats, every time they show up where their pictures can be taken. It's clever, I suppose. Someone figured out how to get the message of the day out with every picture that is snapped. Maybe there's some poetic justice in having someone crop the picture to deliver an unintended message. Anyway ... Reuters has been a voice of anti-Americanism and anti-Administration leftists for quite some time now ... so I trust nobody is surprised. READING ASSIGNMENTS Did you know the staff over at the United Nations was unionized? That
they are....and
the union has voted no confidence in UN Secretary General
Kofi Annan. It would seem they don't like his plans to overhaul the place.
Could Kofi be on the way out? Maybe. Watch video of Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s ride with the Blue Angels. An eminent domain abuse case out of Arcadia, California. | ||
