FRIDAY ODDS AND ENDS

These tadpoles are still rioting in France. Can you believe this? Just how pathetic are these so-called French "students" anyway?  Essentially, they're rioting because they don't like a new workplace regulation that will actually cause them to prove themselves in their first job.  In France, I guess, a job is not something you earn.  It's something that's given you and is then yours for life.  The word "earn" must be quite offensive to the French.  We knew the French were pathetic ... just now how pathetic. More below.

Here's an idea for capital punishment reform.  When someone is sentenced to death they're locked in a cell ... alone.  Only immediate family and the lawyer may visit.  Meals come through a slot.  You get to exercise two hours week. Then ... one day .... someone comes to your cell unannounced and takes you out to be executed.  You don't know when it's coming -- just as your victim didn't know it was coming.  After you're Tango Uniform your family is called to come get your body.  That's the way they do it in Japan.  Sounds good to me!

Now we learn that the U.S. may hire a company partially owned by the Communist Chinese Army, Hutchison-Wampoa, to handle the screening of containers in some U.S. ports for radioactive contents. How is this happening again?  WHY is this happening again?  Aren't we supposed to be the big, hot-shot leader of the industrialized world?  Aren't we supposed to be the great example if innovation, capitalism and free enterprise?  Why are there no American companies that can run our ports and scan our containers for nukes?  Could it possibly have anything to do with oppressive unions and a tax code that chases businesses overseas?

The so-called Christian Peacemakers group can barely bring themselves to thank the British and American troops for freeing their colleagues.  Listen to these dolts as they praise the "release" of their "activists" in Iraq.  This is the voice of the left -- a left that hates the military so much that they can't even give them a nod of thanks when they rescue their fellow travelers.  We want these people to be in charge of our military, don't we? More below.

An ABC News executive has now apologized for his email to fellow workers in which he said that Bush make him sick.  Now I guess its up to us to apologize for all of those times we said that ABC's leftward slant to the news made us sick.  Then again, maybe not.

Did you read about that fire on the Star Princess while it was cruising from Grand Cayman to Jamaica? About 150 staterooms were damaged or destroyed.  One American was killed.  The cause?  Apparently a pathetic, filthy, drug-addicted, self-loathing smoker.  Pigs.

The New York Times did a big, slobbering profile of a Katrina "victim" on March 8th.  Now they're having to print a correction admitting that their precious victim is actually a welfare fraud queen.  Donna Fenton, the object of the Time's fawning, has now been arrested for fraud and grand larceny.  Seems she was not a Katrina victim ... just a con artist.  The Times didn't check her story.  They were just too eager to portray this woman as a victim of government inattention.

THANKS FOR NOTHING

Yesterday U.S. and British forces rescued three Christian peace activists after they had been taken hostage by Islamic murderers.  Sadly, one of the hostages didn't make it...the American Paul Fox.  He was tortured and killed two weeks ago.  But three did make it...and it was a joyous occasion.  They were found tied up in a house in western Baghdad.

Now...put yourself in their place.  You are a peace activist.  Actually, a more accurate description would be a pacifist.  You risk life and limb by going to a war-torn country where there is a lot of violence.  You get captured by Islamic terrorists.  One of your colleagues is killed. Chances are, you're next. But wait...you get rescued.  The Brits and the Americans swoop down and deliver you to safety.  Just how grateful would you be?

Just about any person would be eternally grateful...and would owe the soldiers that risked their lives to rescue them their own lives.  But you see, such is not the case when it comes to the Christian Peacemaker Teams, based in Chicago.  Chairman Doug Pritchard issued a statement after the rescue blaming the Coalition that just rescued them for the entire ordeal.  Said the peacemaker:  "We believe the illegal occupation of Iraq by multinational forces is the root cause of the insecurity which led to this kidnapping and so much pain and suffering in Iraq today. The occupation must end."  Oh really? Finally after being criticized for not recognizing their rescuers, they updated their website to give the soldiers a quick thanks.

Fine...let's just take the hostages back.  If they're so unhappy with the way we're doing things, let them deal with the problem.  What we need here is a little truth-in-labeling.  These aren't peace activists.  They're terrorist-appeasing pacifists.

MORE FRENCH RIOTS

Boy...leaders in France can't catch a break.  With an economy hobbled by bad immigration policies, confiscatory tax rates and lazy people who want everything for free, things don't appear to be going too well in France.  Just recently Muslims rioted in Paris.  Now we have more riots.  What about?

French youths are rioting against a jobs law that would allow employers to actually fire them.  They're all upset because companies would be allowed to fire them in the first two years of employment without giving a reason.  It's called employment-at-will.  An employer gets to fire them for any reason and they get to quit for any reason.  Pretty standard in other places in the world.  Not France.

France is a classic case of a Socialist state, where the government guarantees this and that.  There's only one problem with that.  We live in a global economy.  Companies will start to leave France in hordes if they're not competitive.  Overly generous labor contracts and short work weeks don't hold up too well to global competition.

So now they have more overturned cars, smashed shop windows and higher crime.  Sounds like a great place to visit, doesn't it?

REDNECK SCRAP BOOK

Now I bet that fighting machine gets the job done! More in the Redneck Scrap Book.

READING ASSIGNMENTS

As if you needed any proof or reminding of the media's liberal slant, Drudge got a hold of an e-mail from a top ABC News producer declaring 'Bush makes me sick.'  Just a quick reminder, kids....corporate e-mail is the property of the company you work for and can be used against you in several embarrassing ways.

A cruise ship goes up in flames...and one person dies.  The culprit: some moron with a cigarette.  So now, not only do we have to contend with the cigarette killers murdering us with the discharge from their cancer sticks, we have to worry about them burning us alive.  Way to go, smokers!

President Bush is urging civility as Congress decides what to do about illegal immigration.
Prediction: Congress will do nothing about illegal immigration, and the Republican Party will suffer at the polls this year and in 2008 as a result.

Here's a little news on the Christian on trial for converting from Islam in Afghanistan.
The judge in the case says he won't cave into international pressure and not sentence the man to death.  Ahh..the peaceful religion of Islam.

Dick Morris weighs in on Hillary Clinton's latest flip-flop on immigration.
The woman once said she was against illegal immigrants....and now compares them to Jesus.

Is Iraq in the middle of a civil war?  According to Charles Krauthammer, of course it is.  By any definition of 'civil war,' the Sunni insurgency would qualify.  But just how big of a deal is it?  Read on.

Professor Mike Adams never hesitates to criticize his current employer,
the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.  What's his latest beef?  It seems the university has made a curious choice in entertainment for its spring concert.

President Bush has begun fighting back against Democrats who call him 'incompetent.'  He has done this with a series of recent speeches.  Is it working?  Let's ask David Limbaugh.

Did George W. Bush "lie" about weapons of mass destruction?  Nope...and there is no evidence to prove that the president acted in bad faith.  And what's more, as Mona Charen tells us, there are even documents recently released that show Bush was right.

Jonah Goldberg goes over Bush's press conference the other day
and even has a clever new name for Helen Thomas.  He calls her "that thespian carbuncle of bile."  Read on as Goldberg tears apart Helen's argument about the Iraq war.

Hayden Kepner continues his war against the FairTax plan.
