How's that for thoroughness? The Capitol Cop says he's going to press charges. There are reports that McKinney will be arrested when the congress adjourns. My guess? He won't press charges, and there will be no arrest. OK ... Let's go through this step by step. Should members of congress be allowed to bypass security measures? Of course not! But, remember, they are members of congress and they just love to set up special perks and privileges for themselves. Take comfort in the fact that these politicians still have to go through airport security like the rest of us unwashed Americans. Should McKinney have been wearing the lapel pin that identifies her as a Member of Congress? No. There is no requirement that they wear those pins, and if it were me I wouldn't wear them either. I know other congressmen who make a practice of never wearing that pin. Sometimes it just doesn't pay to advertise who you are. Should the Capital Cop have recognized Cynthia? Well, there are 435 members of the House and another 100 Senators. Many of them, of course, are high profile. Many others don't occupy the limelight and are hard to recognize. Plus, you have the added problem of McKinney having just changed her hairstyle. Her signature hairstyle. Having said this, though, I think that the Capitol Cop should have recognized McKinney, if for no other reason than the fact that she is a problem. There have been incidents before this one that should cause every single person working in law enforcement anywhere near Washington to know this woman on sight. McKinney is a hot head, and if you want your life to go smoothly you don't screw with her. Should McKinney have hit the cop? No. No way. She should have just turned around and said "Excuse me, I'm Cynthia McKinney from Georgia, a member of the House of Representatives." Upon hearing the name the cop would have turned deathly pale and would have immediately summoned a sedan chair to take the Queen anywhere she wanted to go. There is absolutely no excuse whatsoever for her losing her temper and striking that officer. She knew exactly what she was doing, and she knew it was wrong when she did it. She lost her temper, she should apologize for it, and from that point on it should be between McKinney and the pathetic people who put her in office. We have one other issue here. Race. As soon as I saw the headline on the Drudge Report last night I knew, without any shadow of a doubt, that Cynthia McKinney was going to make a racial issue out of this. Sure enough, it didn't take long. Some Internet reports last night said that McKinney was claiming that she had been "harassed" by white capitol hill police officers. She is quoted as saying "Do I have to contact the police every time I change my hairstyle? How do we account for the fact that when I wore my braids every day for 11 years, I still faced this problem, primarily from certain white police officers." There is no reference to white police officers on her official website. Perhaps cooler heads prevailed by the time her "official" statement was issued. We do have history to rely on here. Race is pretty much all that Cynthia McKinney has had going for her for years. Race is why she is in the House of Representatives. Race is always at the center of McKinney's life. Several years ago there was a similar case at the White House. McKinney had to identify herself to the Secret Police. Then, as now, McKinney made a racial issue out of it, saying that she is sick and tired of having to constantly have her identity validated by white people. McKinney needs to thank the Capitol Hill Police for doing their job and apologize for being an arrogant hot head. And that should be the end of it. Yup. Looks like our economy is still ripping along. NASDAQ hit a five-year high yesterday. Tech stocks led a rally. In addition, the Japanese NIKKEI index toped 17,000 for the first time in over five years. Our economy is sound and growing ... but you would never know it listening to the whining Democrats. The very fact that I have brought you this news here is proof enough that I am nothing but a hate-monger.
Here's another win for Bush. Just this week five former FISA judges said that Bush's actions were entirely appropriate and legal. Let's see if that ends up on the front pages and the nightly news. By the way...the AP and
the New York Times covered the same hearing, but failed to mention the judge's
words that were favorable to the Bush White House. More bias from a mainstream
media that has no shame. REDNECK SCRAP BOOK This BBQ is no joke. More in the Redneck Scrap Book. READING ASSIGNMENTS Media Matters has a go at Neal again. Hey, remember, you can leave comments there!
American journalist Jill Carroll's kidnappers dropped her off at the
headquarters of a
political party in Baghdad this morning, unharmed. Was this a sudden burst of
generosity, or did a little money change hands? We will never know. Either way,
she's safe. The economy is booming ... so why Can't Chris Matthews admit it? Run a red light. Kill two little girls. Get 30 days in jail. What a deal! Justice in Orlando, Florida. Hooters Airlines, "Where the passengers love turbulence," has called it quits. Sad. These girls are far too pretty to be hired by any other airline. Here are the details on the search warrant issued after that Duke Lacrosse rape incident. Note that there are the first names of three Duke lacrosse players named in the warrant. Do you want to check them out? Sorry, the roster for the Duke Lacrosse team has mysteriously disappeared from the Duke website. A video of stupid people tricks, keeping emergency rooms in business. Here's an ebay auction for 13 issues of a magazine devoted to cockfighting. Yee haw! Virgin Galactic says they're considering no fake boobies in space citing concerns they might explode. | ||
