FLYING THE MEXICAN FLAG

I've noticed quite a few news stories about Mexican flags being flown here, there and over yonder.  One high school principal in Houston was flying the Mexican flag outside his school.  OK, that school is a government institution, so that's not a good thing.  There's another story expressing shock that some private community in Florida is flying a Mexican Flag.  Big deal.  Been to Florida lately?  Let's all count the Canadian flags that are flying over communities, condos, restaurants, shopping centers and other places down there!  But, of course, the Canadians aren't claiming that Los Angeles is "there's," and we really don't have all that much of a problem with illegal Canadian immigrants.  They just crowd up against our border .. but seem content for the most part to stay on their side.  There is another story .. .this one about someone cutting down an American Flag and replacing it with a Mexican flag.  There is your indication that this whole controversy is about more than just illegal border crossing

LOS ANGELES IS OURS?  WHAT'S THAT ALL ABOUT?

I have a copy of a page from a Mexican magazine called "Expansion."  It's the editorial page.  The editorial is printed in  English and Spanish.  I thought you might get a kick out of the title to the editorial.  "A proposito de "Con todo respeto, Los Angeles es nuestro."  Translation?  "With all due respect, Los Angeles is ours."

In the body of the editorial you'll find this sentence:  "Waiters, waitresses, chamber maids, babysitters and farmhands are instigating a cultural reconquest in cities like Los Angeles, Portland, Washington, New York, Denver."  The editorial goes on to describe how these brave Mexicans are risking their lives in America in a desperate struggle to feed their families.

I just thought you might like to know that some in Mexico see the flood of illegal immigrants into America as a "reconquest."  We're being conquered.  Nice thought, isn't it?

MCKINNEY

It doesn't look like the latest Cynthia McKinney mess is going to go away any time soon.  Today's Atlanta Journal-Constitution is reporting that the Capitol Hill police have notified the federal prosecutor's office in Washington that they are going to seek an arrest warrant for McKinney next week.  OK, Now I've seen Cynthia McKinney's new hairstyle.  There is just no other way to say this.  It's just hideous.  She looks like ghetto trash.  Get a braider over there ... quick!  Nobody with a modicum of self-respect would go around looking like that.  And don't give me any stuff for saying this.  I've endured years of "bald" remarks.  I'm entitled.

Now we're hearing reports from others on Capitol Hill that Cynthia McKinney has a reputation for treating people whom she considers beneath her status with disdain ... and especially white people whom she considers to be beneath her.  One former staff member on the House International Relations committee, Richard Stafford,  is now talking about an incident where McKinney struck him and pushed him aside when he tried to stop her from entering a closed-door, members-only meeting with a friend and two small children.  He wanted to press charges then, but figured it would end his career.

It's interesting to note that McKinney issued two statements yesterday.  The first statement, which you can read here, shows McKinney's arrogant and hot-headed side.  This is the McKinney who evidently has a habit of striking people, especially white people, who get in her way.  In the first statement McKinney says that Capitol Hill Police are "required" to recognize members of congress.  Wrong ... that is not so.  There is no requirement that they recognize members of congress.  If such a requirement existed then there would be no need for ID cards.  These Capitol Hill Police are there to protect the members, not recognize them.  Someone apparently told McKinney that this "poor, poor pitiful black me" routing wasn't playing well, so she issued this second statement in which she merely says that members of congress "expect" (the "require" word is gone) to be recognized, and expressed regrets that the incident occurred. Note, please, that she didn't apologize for hitting the police officer.  She just said that she's sorry the whole thing happened.  There's a difference there, and those of you who didn't attend government schools might be able to figure it out.

Now ... don't get your hopes up that this is going to have any affect on her reelection chances in November.  She's safe. The voters of Georgia's 4th Congressional District know that Cynthia McKinney is considered to be a pariah and somewhat of a clown in the Congress.  They know that she is ineffective.  This does not matter to them.  One McKinney constituent, Andrew Hicks, says "She is a good woman.  I will always support her 100 percent."  Another, Fred Maxwell is quoted in the AJC as saying "Had she been one of the white persons, they would not have asked her for her ID.  I still think the Republicans are trying to get her out of office."   So, there you go.  It's those white persons again. Damn, they can sure be pesky, can't they?

OK ... SO NOW I'M A LITTLE EMBARRASSED.

You've read what I had to say about Cynthia's hairstyle.  It does, indeed, look like ghetto trash; but that's now what I said on the air today.  I said that she looks like a ghetto slut.  Know what?  That was wrong.  That was overboard.  I know Cynthia McKinney.  I've know her for years.  We have always gotten along just fine .. kidding each other ... needling each other. I remember her spotting me sitting in the House visitors gallery one day and yelling (with a smile on her face, by the way) "Neal Boortz! Who the hell let you in here?"  I've known her father much longer than I've known her. I don't like her politics one bit, as I said on the air yesterday and today, I think that she has an endearing personality and a million-dollar smile.  That being said, I don't think that it is right to use the word "slut" in any description involving her or her hairdo.  So ... my apologies.  I'm big enough to admit when I'm wrong ... and I was wrong. At least I didn't slug a police officer. I have that going for me.

OK ... YOU GET A NICE EMAIL, YOU BRAG ABOUT IT.

Web Guy forwarded this message from Anthony!

Message:
I once said that I would never be a conservative.  I was young and na 1/2 ve.  It can all start out innocent enough.  You are assigned to read a few conservative articles in one of your business classes.  What's the harm? Then one day you find yourself browsing through the Wall Street Journal on your lunch break at the student union.  No big deal you think plus you feel protected by your Che Guevara t-shirt.  At some point you become aware that Air America is actually boring and that Michael Moore is really just a fat obnoxious blowhard. Pretty soon you have a subscription to the National Review and are anxiously waiting for Thursday mornings so you can download the latest prose from that hip chick Ann Coulter.  And before you know it, you are free basing Fox News and Neal Boortz just to make it through the day so you can go home and get another hit of Brit Hume at night.
Never say never!

SO, THEY THREW THIS JOB FAIR ... AND NOBODY CAME

This information was sent to me by a listener in Austin, Texas.  I worked long and hard last night trying to verify it ... no luck. I'll post it here to see if any of you can verify or debunk!  What do I think? I think it's probably true.  This is the nature of those Katrina "evacuees" still living off the taxpayer's teat.  They merely moved their dependent lifestyle to other locales.

Here's the text of the email I received:

Last weekend FEMA, the City of Austin, and the Texas Workforce Commission set up a job training/hiring, interview job fair for Katrina evacuees to be held at the ACC campus on Webberville Rd. in East Austin.  Evacuees complained that they did not have transportation so the city of Austin and FEMA provided transportation.  Nine buses and vans ran from four locations in Round Rock and five locations in Austin.  The vehicles were brought to their residents.  Drivers knocked on their doors and did everything possible to reach potential job seekers.  At the end of the day, the nine vans and buses transported a total of one person.  Not one person per bus --- one person.  The cost to FEMA was $7800.00.

Sounds all-too plausible.

OK folks.  That's it.  Bryan, who generally gins up out reading assignments, is on Spring Break in Cancun.  Probably naked by now.
