FAIRTAX RALLY Plans are going forward for a
FairTax rally at the Gwinnett Convention Center near Atlanta for
Wednesday evening, May 24th. It's a bit early to share all of the details,
but you can be assured of a great time. Books -- the latest edition -- will
be for sale, and Congressman John Linder, myself and some surprise guests
will be in attendance. There is no admission fee. There are no
tickets. Just show up! Several of our affiliate radio stations have
made plans to charter some busses to bring participants from as far away as
Indianapolis! More on the plans later ... I just wanted to drop this
reminder so that you will keep the date clear and start making plans! If we
jam the Gwinnett Convention Center with an overflow crowd on that Wednesday
evening it will send yet another message .... we like this tax reform idea,
give it some serious consideration!
By the way ... a listener in Florida emailed to say that she found a
$1.00 bill with "FairTax" stamped on it in red. Somebody out there has a
great idea! Now ... just brainstorming here ... I wonder if there is a
company out there who could make "FairTax" stamps in bulk ... a LOT of them
that could sell for just a few bucks ... and we could have those available
at the FairTax rally! If the word "FairTax" started showing up on currency
across this country .... it could convey the popularity of this incredible
plan! Not a huge typeface, mind you ... Just maybe 1/4 inch by 1 inch. As I said, just thinking out loud! TAXES .. OH YEAH, THAT'S THE SOLUTION TO HIGHER GAS PRICES
Vote Republican this year? Can someone please tell me why? Well, there
is one awfully good reason .... to keep Democrats out of office. But the
choice between Republicans and Democrats is now similar to having to chose
between zits and a fever blister to adorn your face. Neither is pretty.
The Washington Times is reporting this morning that
Republicans on
Capitol Hill are strongly divided about what to do about rising gas prices.
The reason they're worried about this is because politicians have spent
generations convincing the American sheeple that the government is always
there to smooth every bump in the road and straighten every tight curve.
These "freedom loving" Americans look to the government every time they get
a runny nose. The American sense of self-reliance is on the way out, and
the politicians know it. That's why they're so concerned about gas prices. There are some Republicans who are considering raising taxes on the oil
companies. Yup .. you got it. Raising taxes. The government already takes
five times as much out of the proceeds of the sale of a gallon of gas as do
the gas stations that sell the stuff. Five times! Now they're talking
about taking even more! Every penny that these oil companies pay in taxes
ends up reflected in the cost at the pump .. so these pandering Republicans
come up with the brilliant idea of forcing gas prices even higher as a
response to concern over high gas prices? What kind of representation is
that? It's supply and demand, folks. That simple. Add that to the
environmental whack-jobs who will most assuredly stand in the way of any
further exploration in this country, or the construction of any new
refineries ... and you have your problem. If you want a government solution
... tell the government to stop paying so much attention to the
anti-capitalist faction of the environmental movement. Start drilling in
ANWR. Start exploring off the Atlantic and Florida Gulf coast. Start
constructing those nuclear plants. Then get out of the way and let the free
market solve this problem as only the free market can. DISHONEST REPORTING --- AT BEST

Tony McNary
| I heard a tape of a news report broadcast on the Atlanta CBS-TV
affiliate. The story was about the
low turnout at the illegal alien
(watch here: scroll to Immigrant boycott backlash) rally
in Atlanta this past Monday. According to the report the illegals in the
community are concerned because of all of the "hatred" that is being aimed
at them. They were afraid to show up at the rally because of all of this
hatred.
Give me a break. They break our laws coming here. They break our laws
staying here. The break our laws working here. Then they stage their
rallies DEMANDING that we continue to allow them to violate our laws ..
even DEMANDING that we grant them amnesty for violating our laws, and they
they start screaming "hatred" when we object. The reporter covering this story was Tony McNary. At one point in the
report McNary reported: "The Hispanic Political Action Committee says that hatred is on the
airways on radio programs like the Neal Boortz show." McNary then plays an audio clip from my program on Monday. You hear me
saying: "Sadly, most Americans, and that includes those out there right now
that are fed up with the illegal aliens in this country and their arrogant
'we are America' attitude ...." At this point a caller chimes in with "How
'bout we boycott all things Mexican on May 5th." And that is where McNary
stops the audio clip of my show. He just dances right back in to the
"hatred" thing. Now .. .if McNary had wished to present the entire clip from my show the
Channel 46 viewers would have heard me respond to the caller by saying that
I did not support such a boycott because many of the owners of these Mexican
restaurants and other businesses are citizens of this country and most are
here legally. So why didn't McNary play the entire clip? Because it didn't
fit into his "hatred" and "hate radio" theme. He approached this story with
an agenda ... and to play my response to that caller's "boycott all things
Mexican" comment wouldn't have promoted his agenda. Gotta love it.
WIDESPREAD TORTURE?
The anti-American, leftist organization known as Amnesty International is on
our case again today. They've
released a report today that says torture and
inhumane treatment are widespread in our prisons abroad. Places like
Afghanistan, Iraq, Cuba and so on. The report, 47 pages all, is filled
with such bold statements as: "Evidence continues to emerge of widespread
torture and other cruel, inhumane or degrading treatment of detainees held
in U.S. custody."
Then there's this statement from Curt Goering, Amnesty's Senior Deputy
Director-General: "The U.S. government is not only failing to take steps to
eradicate torture, it is actually creating a climate in which torture and
other ill-treatment can flourish." My...what evil people we are! The
mainstream media is going to run with this big-time today...you'll see it as
part of the cable network's top stories.
First of all ... let's consider their definition of "torture." All you
really need to know is that these people have stated in the past that the
act of force-feeding someone who is trying to kill themselves through a
hunger strike is "torture." 'Nuff said.
So what's the problem? Well, there isn't one. For the sake of argument,
let's just grant Amnesty their premise...which is that the United States is
torturing people. According to them, we are torturing these people at
prisons located in foreign countries. And just who are these people?
That's where Amnesty gets it wrong.
The people we are torturing are terrorists. They are suspects in the War On
Terror, enemies of the state. They are not the soldiers of any organized
army and therefore are afforded no protections under the Geneva Convention.
For all intents and purposes, they are spies.
What this all comes down to is the bedwetters at Amnesty not believing in
the War on Terror. They don't see Islamic terrorists as a threat, like we
do. To them, the United States is the enemy. So they issue these reporters
to stir up the news and generate contributions for their organization.
But in the end, if we're torturing enemy combatants.....and that's a big
if.....who cares? We can do whatever we want to them, because we're
allowed. If Amnesty International was true to their mission, they would be
probing the real torture going on in the world...and that is the political
persecution happening under communist regimes like North Korea and Castro's
Cuba.
But all that matters is America is wrong. Who cares what a bunch of
Euro-weasels think anyway? Case closed.
YOUR GOVERNMENT SCHOOLS AT WORK
All over the United States property taxes are at record levels...and
rising. The #1 reason usually...school funding. The fiscal demands of
government schools always seem to grow. Perhaps people should think about
stopping and seeing just what they're getting for the money. Atlanta city
schools spend about $13,000 per year per child and they're now
talking
about a tax increase. Because according to a recent Roper poll for National
Geographic, things don't look good.
All we've heard from the media for 9 months now is about Hurricane Katrina.
Endless news stories about the hurricane that slammed into New Orleans,
Louisiana. But according to
this poll, almost one-third of kids polled
couldn't find Louisiana on a map. Almost half couldn't find Mississippi.
It gets worse. Among people between the ages of 18 and 24.....6 in 10
couldn't find Iraq on a map of the world. Almost half couldn't find India.
A full 75% couldn't find Israel on a map of the Middle East. Three-fourths
said English was the most widely spoken language...it's not. And here's
another sad fact: Some 60% didn't know the border between North Korea and
South Korea is the most heavily fortified in the world. The sad part?
Thirty percent thought the border between the U.S. and Mexico was the most
fortified.
If you've been sending your children to be indoctrinated at government
schools, you might want to reconsider your actions...particularly if they
keep coming home stupid.
HERE COMES THE HOLLYWOOD LEFT
Once in awhile some Hollywood actors come out and start talking politics.
Eager to grab a headline, the media laps it up....shining the spotlight on
them and giving them all the airtime they want. Frequent offenders have
included George Clooney and Alec Baldwin. Well, today there are two more.
Richard Dreyfuss has come out and is
complaining about the mainstream
media. Wait a minute...he just might be my kind of guy. But wait...he's
not complaining about the right thing. At first, his complaints that the
media does not supply a context for what it reports seem valid. But then..you get down just a few more layers of the onion and you find out just
how much of a hardcore leftist Dreyfuss is.
"We've got to be aware of the power of technology and the speed at which it
allows us to transmit information." Fair enough. But then, here comes the
cheap shot at George W. Bush: "You have to encourage prose, analysis and
detail -- otherwise people will go to war in Iraq and Afghanistan without
really knowing why." Uh-huh. Same old, same old.
Next up, Tim Robbins. Mr. Susan Sarandon is quite the Bush-hater. He's
also complaining about the media: "We have right now a media that is
willfully ignoring the high crimes and misdemeanors of the president of the
United States. Clinton lied about a (Lewinsky,) and got impeached by the
media and Congress." Actually, Mr. Robbins...Clinton lied to a grand jury,
the same thing Scooter Libby is accused of doing. Isn't lying to a jury
wrong? Guess it depends which political party the liar belongs to.
At the end of the day, more of the same from the loony factory out on the
left coast. More nonsense...albeit interesting nonsense.
REDNECK SCRAP BOOK You know you're in a redneck church
if... More in the Redneck Scrap Book. READING ASSIGNMENTS
This is interesting: former Secretary of State
Madeleine Albright is publicly disagreeing with her former boss,
President Bill Clinton. Clinton says Bin Laden was offered to the United
States, Albright says he was not. Who's right?
What is the worst state to live in when it comes to taxes? Nope, not
Massachusetts....try New York. The best? Wyoming and South Dakota.

Democratic National Committee Chairman
Howard Dean is running around saying there's no doubt Karl Rove is guilty
in the Valerie Plame case. And Dean even says he's guiltier than Bin Laden,
whom we shouldn't judge until he's proven guilty.
So much for that...ABC
has canceled the left-leaning 'Commander In Chief' about a woman president,
played by Geena Davis. Perhaps people aren't ready for President Hillary
Clinton just yet.

A guy named
Edward Lazear, the chairman of the White House's Council of Economic
Advisers says cutting gas taxes isn't the answer. Why not? He says
cutting gas taxes would encourage more gasoline use. Oh really? Perhaps the
gas tax should be cut because it's our money in the first place.
House Majority Leader John Boehner says
he's heard back from his constituents on the $100 rebate proposal as some
sort of relief for high gas prices. Their verdict: the idea is stupid.
Perhaps there is hope for the ignorant masses after all.
Former New York Mayor Ed Koch, a supporter of the Bush Administration and
our Iraq policy is now saying it's time for a change in Iraq. The
reason? Iran. He correctly points out that Iran is now our most dangerous
enemy.
A lot of people on the left are comparing George W. Bush to Richard Nixon,
because of his low poll numbers.
But Jonah Goldberg says that's where the comparison ends.
And now random thoughts from Dr. Thomas Sowell...which are usually
better than most people's non-random thoughts. For example, he says whereas
we once had to worry about the ignorance of the uneducated, we now have to
worry about the ignorance of those with college degrees.Time waster of
