After a successful visit to Dayton, Ohio, the Boortz Show moves to Norfolk, Virginia this morning for the WNIS Talkfest 2006! We'll be broadcasting live from the Ted Constant Convocation Center at Old Dominion University. Admission is free ... so if you're in the area it's a good time to come watch sausage being made! Now that was a fun time. Jamie Dupree emceed the show last night with Sean Hannity, Clark Howard and myself before a great crowd at the University of Dayton Arena! The two high moments of the show were when Sean delivered a soliloquy about President Bush and the war on terror, and when Clark Howard talked to the crowd about economics and gas prices. In fact .. Clark was on his game last night. He's an amazing guy. I know I speak for the others when I say thanks to those who braved some interesting weather to come out and to 1290 WHIO for putting on such a fine event. I'm sure we'll be back in Dayton to for a repeat performance sometime in the not-too-distant future.
Yesterday the House of Representatives had an opportunity to take a huge step toward American energy independence. They faltered. Our great representatives rejected an amendment to an Interior Department bill that would have ended the absurd ban we have on drilling for natural gas and oil off about 85% of the costal waters of the United States. This, of course, includes California and Florida. The vote wasn't even close. They couldn't even agree to allow drilling just for natural gas! In case you went to government schools, please allow me to explain that there is no such thing as a natural gas spill. There is no way that natural gas could wash up on the shores of the Florida Gulf Coast or California and ruin any tourist's day in the sun. So .. the more mindless among you can continue with your mass hysteria against the oil companies. Those of you actually capable of rational thought can start to wonder just why it is these people in Washington seem so hell-bent on maintaining America's dependence on foreign energy sources.
Tomorrow we're going to find out just how hopeless New Orleans is. New Orleans voters --- including many who have no intention of ever moving back to make New Orleans their home again -- will vote in the Democratic runoff between present New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin and Lt. Gov. Mitch Landrieu. If these voters actually give Ray Nagin another shot at leading New Orleans then we will know that the problems that led to the Katrina disaster went much deeper than irresponsible and incompetent leadership from the mayor and governor. Mr. "Chocolate City" was a disgrace. Instead of running for reelection he should be planning a defense for a trial of charges of criminal incompetence and cowardice. We'll know a lot more about the people of New Orleans by Monday. [OK ... that about does it for the notes Neal sent us from Norfolk this morning ... we now turn over the Nuze to the rest of the Boortz staff .... so don't blame anything else you read here on The Man!]
REDNECK SCRAP BOOK I kind of doubt postal regulations allow for this sort of thing. More in the Redneck Scrap Book.
President Bush once enjoyed approval ratings after 9/11 of 82% in New York. Not anymore...apparently they've fallen to 22%. How low can they go? I'm sure the media will let us know. The United Nations does not even recognize the concept of an "illegal immigrant." They want all immigrants to have the same rights, regardless of legal status. Yet another reason to dump our membership in this worthless organization. While the Bush Administration is apparently thinking about negotiating directly with North Korea, the North Koreans are planning to test launch a missile. This should get very interesting. Charles Krauthammer says George W. Bush probably has good intentions in wanting to step up border security, but that's not enough. He says other past "reforms" have done nothing but increase the number of illegals. For the past several years, it has seemed like the Republican party was on the way up. But Pat Buchanan asks the question: is the GOP ascendancy over? Mark Davis says what nearly everyone is thinking: Bush's immigration plan is too soft on illegal aliens. His proposal is not enough and is basically an amnesty program. Is it possible to balance a budget, wiping out a deficit in the process, and do it all without raising taxes? Sure it is...and Fred Barnes tells us just how Missouri Governor Roy Blunt accomplished that very thing. We have reached the tipping point in this country over illegal immigration. And as David Limbaugh reports, the people upset about the illegal alien invasion are neither racist nor bigoted. What is the cost of illegal immigration? The statistics speak for themselves. According to Mona Charen's latest column, in the last 30 years, we've gone from 6% of all births being to illegal aliens to 23%. For all of you who are already going to hell for reading The Da Vinci Code, here's what the movie classic The !0 Commandments might have been like if it'd been a teen movie. (video, language) | ||
