SPARSE NOTES TODAY No show prep from The Talkmaster this morning! Got in too late ... and
heading out again this afternoon. So my wonderful but sometimes demented staff
has put together some talking points and reading assignments ... I'll look at
them later to see if they're saying anything I wouldn't say. But hell ... I'd
say about anything. IRAQ AND VIETNAM COMPARISONS BACK
With
George W. Bush visiting Vietnam, the media is loving comparing the war in
Iraq to the Vietnam War. But the mainstream media seems to have left their
history books at home...because once again, the Vietnam War has nothing in
common with the war in Iraq. Let's break down their reasoning.
The Vietnam War lasted for decades...with its beginnings going all the way back
to the 1940's and the 1950's. We've been in Iraq just under 4 years. The enemy
in Vietnam was being supplied by a superpower...the Soviet Union. The enemy in
Iraq is being supplied by Iran and Syria and assorted Islamic thugs from various
terrorist organizations.
It's just not the same. Comparing Iraq to Vietnam would be like comparing World
War II to the invasion of Panama. There is no comparison. But don't tell that
to the media and the Democrats. They know Vietnam is considered our greatest
military failure of the 20th century. And just like with the Vietnam War,
Democrats want to cut off the funding for Iraq too.
Oh..and it goes without saying: we lost the Vietnam War, but we won in Iraq.
The only problem in Iraq right now is getting things to the point where they are
stable enough that we can leave. However, such is the mainstream media's hatred
of George Bush and the United States Military...they can't help but live out
their Vietnam fantasy as much as possible. The fact that Bush is in Vietnam
itself this week only serves to feed the flames.
THE CHURCH OF GLOBAL WARMING
The church of global warming is back in session, with Kofi Annan presiding over
the day's sermon. The outgoing U.N. Secretary-General is
comparing the coming
doom of climate change as serious as the spread of weapons of mass destruction.
Just why do those who peddle their global warming theories believe in them so
much? Because it serves their anti-capitalist political philosophy, that's why.
That's because the global warming movement has nothing to do with science and
nothing to do with wanting cleaner air, something everybody should want. The
push for new legislation crippling industry serves the political agenda of the
Leftist. They can hide beneath the single issue of global warming, yet still
push their radical agenda. Never mind the fact that no industrialized nation
can possibly meet the pollution controls of the Kyoto agreement.
If you want to enrage a global warming worshiper, all you have to do is raise
the possibility that the Earth is warming naturally. All you have to do also is
ask them how far back temperature records go. Then, for the clincher, just ask
them how much the overall global temperature has gone up in the last 100 years.
But they won't want to hear that...because it doesn't serve their political
agenda. Which is what global warming is all about...politics.
JOHN EDWARDS CAUGHT IN A LIE
This is rich. Former North Carolina Senator John Edwards (who? Oh yeah..him,)
the former Democratic vice-presidential nominee who ran with The Poodle two
years ago, has been caught with his hand in the cookie jar. Believe it or not,
it all revolves around Wal-Mart...and a game console.
You see....Edwards is always bashing Wal-Mart. Not because of their promotion
of eminent domain abuse, but because of their policy of promoting low prices and
non-union labor. Edwards just isn't going to ever shop there. Or his he? It
turns out the answer to that question is...it depends.
Eager to have one of the new Playstation 3 game consoles, Edwards sent one of
his underlings to Wal-Mart to get one. Only this time, Wal-Mart caught him. In
a publicly released statement, the retailing giant said "While the rest of
America's working families are waiting patiently in line, Sen. Edwards wants to
cut to the front." Priceless.
Now Edwards is backpedaling as fast as he can...selling the staffer up the river
and saying he had nothing to do with the idea of buying it at Wal-Mart...but the
damage is done. Once again the hypocrisy of the Left exposes itself: do as I
say, not as I do.
Sent in by Connie McKenzie and apparently captured at 115th and Allisonville Road in Fishers (Indianapolis). So glad to see
Lorena Bobbitt has moved on and is apparently gainfully employed.
REDNECK SCRAP BOOK Looks like they have rednecks in Italy too. Who knew? More in the Redneck Scrap Book. READING ASSIGNMENTS
Remember when we asked you to help
Patty Lewis send 1,100 Marines Christmas stockings? Well, it was a huge
success! See what your donation did for the marines.

The
Bobby Cox "Paws beCause" Annual Concert at Barnsley Gardens Resort, GA
Saturday, November 18th. Neal talked about this on the air today. Last Day on the Job...
Milton Friedman, the most influential economist of the modern era and one of
the founding fathers of the Reagan revolution, has passed away at the age of
94. His writings should be required reading in every high school in the
country. People all over the world are praising the man,
including former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher.
What will be one of the first orders of business for the new session of
Congress? Naturally, it will be raising the minimum wage. Ted Kennedy says the
push will be on early next year
to raise the minimum wage from $5.15 an hour to $7.25 an hour. Why not
$10? How about $20? Who can really live on $7.25 an hour? How are you
supposed to raise a family of 4 on that? Come on, Democrats!
It turns out John Murtha didn't have the votes to become the new House Majority
Leader...in fact, it wasn't even close. It was a total blow-out, with Steny
Hoyer beating Mr. Cut and Run handily, 149-86. Yet those same 149 people voted
to elect Nancy Pelosi speaker. Interesting.
John McCain seems to have gotten the message from the Republican blowout at the
polls last week. He says members of Congress lost their way, rejecting the
ideals of limited government in favor of enriching themselves. At least
somebody gets it.
Charles Krauthammer is beginning to be a bit less optimistic over the situation
in Iraq. He's not so sure that the Iraqis can keep their own country from
imploding anymore. He says mistakes were made following the overthrow of Saddam
Hussein, but the real problem lies with the Iraqis.
The shooting down of John Bolton's re-nomination shows that things are going to
be business-as-usual for the Democrats in Washington.
So says Oliver North, who also says all the talk about bipartisanship and
working with the administration was just that....talk.
Ed Feulner writes in his column today
that the era of buying voters with government pork is over. Feulner points
to the fact that Republicans had become masters of pork barrel spending, but it
did them no good in the general election.
Just who is most excited about the outcome of the November 7th mid-term
elections? It's not Democrats. On the other hand, it's our enemies...the
Islamic terrorists we're fighting in the War On Terror.
Amir Taheri has more.
Trent Lott's elevation to the #2 position in the Senate leadership isn't exactly
impressing Jonah Goldberg, who wonders if the GOP really knows what it's
doing. He doesn't think Lott is the right man for the job, to say the least.
The media has been leading us to believe that the generals running the show in
Iraq secretly wanted more troops but didn't ask for fear of crossing Donald
Rumsfeld.
David Limbaugh points out that Rumsfeld is soon to be gone...and the generals
are still saying the same thing. |
