As you may (or should) know, there's quite a race going on in Maryland for the Senate seat being vacated by Democrat Paul Sarbanes. Maryland's Republican Lt. Governor Michael Steele is running for the seat, as is Congressman Ben Cardin. Steele is black. This hasn't made Democrats happy. This means he's as close to a traitor as one can get in the mind of a leftist. So along comes Maryland Democrat Congressman, and House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer. Hoyer is campaigning for Cardin, and since Cardin's opponent is a black Republican, all bets are off. Hoyer tells a campaign audience .. a largely black campaign audience .. that Michael Steel "slavishly" supports the Republican Party. This is pretty much par for the course for Hoyer. Four years ago he referred to Steele as a "token." Then we got one of those "out of context" excuses from Hoyer. This time we're getting an apology. Hoyer says "I should not have used those words." Yeah, right. But he did -- and the damage was done. A black campaign audience heard that the Republican candidate for Senate was acting pretty much like a slave .. and those words have grave impact in the black voting community. If Steele is a slave, he is a runaway. He has committed the unpardonable sin .. .he has fled the Democrat plantation. Now he must be punished. Today's runaways are punished with scorn and words like "Uncle Tom," "Oreo" and others. This from the party that tells us how much it appreciates diversity. Diversity of color? Maybe. Diversity of thought? Not on your life. Web Guy, the poor sap who screens email to the show, is telling me that as the election approaches the level of venom in emails is increasing. I asked him for a few examples ... and here you go!
Don't you just love it when an election nears? Well, not really. Arizona Senator and 2008 presidential candidate
John
McCain was speaking to a crowd in Iowa yesterday and was asked the prospect
of a Democratic takeover of Congress. "I think I'd just commit suicide. I
don't want to face that eventuality because I don't think it's going to
happen." Of course, he was kidding. Switching from a do-nothing Republican Senate to a do-nothing Democratic Senate isn't going to really matter all that much. Perhaps that's why Republicans aren't all that excited about voting. Well ... maybe that's not exactly true. OK .. .there's one thing. A
Democrat victory in either the House or the Senate would be wildly
celebrated in the palaces of the mullahs and Osama's cave. A Democrat
victory is a sign of American weakness .. and eventual American surrender.
If you want a reason NOT to vote for Democrats ... there you are. Oh come on now. Isn't that a bit of a stretch? Bush agreed to a
comparison of the Tet Offensive to the insurgency, that's where the
comparison ends. By the way, did you know that the Tet Offensive was
successful and the United States won? It was only after the anti-war
mainstream media stepped in was it called a defeat. Small detail. REDNECK SCRAP BOOK When rednecks need dentures. More in the Redneck Scrap Book.
A cult leader sentenced to death in Ohio says he's too fat for execution. How can you be too fat for an execution? Well, he says his condition would make the injection too painful. How about a compromise: death by firing squad. It's a win-win situation for everybody! Dick Morris says it's all over for the GOP in 2006....and 2008. He says the traditional Republican base is abandoning the GOP, clearing the way for huge Democratic gains. He also says Hillary will win the White House in 2008. Robert Novak shares his current predictions: the Democrats will seize 20 seats....putting them in control of the House of Representatives for the first time since 1994. He specifically runs down which seats are leaning in which direction. George Will reminds us that as much as Democrats would like us to believe it isn't true, we are currently in the middle of an economic boom. For instance, did you know that unemployment among college graduates is just 2 percent? That's right....2 percent. Victor Davis Hanson says liberals have gone wild since Republicans have been in power. He points out that Democratic ex-presidents Clinton and Carter have had no problem criticizing subsequent administrations, despite the tradition of not doing so among former presidents. Ed Koch reports on the abuse of Christians in Iraq by certain Islamic groups. When Pope Benedict XVI made his comments about Islam, certain Islamic extremists threatened to kill Christians. Koch also says Europe is waking up to the threat from Islamic terrorism. So with the situation looking as grim as it is, how on Earth could the White House, the RNC and Karl Rove be so optimistic? Marc Ambinder says there is data to support the prediction that Republicans will retain control on Election Day. Not to mention, says John Mcintyre, 3 weeks is a long time. There's still time left in the runup to November 7th for momentum to change hands. As an example, he cites the fact that the last 3 weeks have been up and down in the polls between Republicans and Democrats. Liberals want the terrorists being held at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba to be able to pursue their cases through the American justice system. But as Ann Coulter shows us, any number of liberal judges on the bench are very capable of handing out light sentences and slaps on the wrist. In case you missed it yesterday, someone should tell this picketer not to consume the product he's picketing while he's picketing. | ||||
