BUSH YELLING HIMSELF HOARSE?

We're reading all over the place how very, very hard George Bush is working to save the Republican Party in next week's midterm election.  If you believe the polls, and the very excited media, it is all too little, to late.

If Bush wanted to save this Republican majority for the house he should have started working a long time ago on the project.  Here are just a few of the things he could have done ....

  • After declaring that the McCain-Feingold Campaign Finance Reform Act was probably unconstitutional, he could have gone ahead and vetoed it!

  • While we're at it, how about a few vetoes of some of the Republican's spending bills?

  • He could have informed the nation that the average senior citizen spends less than two bucks a day on prescription medicines, and that he has decided against the idea of pushing for the biggest entitlement program since Medicare.

  • He could have done something about the Mexican invasion.  Isn't protecting our borders from an invasion one of the primary responsibilities of our federal government and our chief executive?  You don't have to come across the border with guns blazing for it to be an invasion.  It should have been stopped.  He didn't do it.

  • Bush could have recognized that decisions affecting the education of our children are best made at the local level, where people have more contact with and sway over elected officials, than at the federal level.  He should have recognized this, but he didn't.  Instead, he got together with Ted Kennedy to federalize education.  Now local school boards and officials have little to do but implement decisions made at the federal level.

You get the picture ... this list goes on and one.  Handle it over the past six years and you don't have to worry about your voter base staying home on election day.

HERE'S ANOTHER REASON DEMOCRATS ARE DANGEROUS

During my Tulsa speech this past Saturday I spent a few moments ... probably too many for some in the audience .. detailing some of the factors of the Democrats' "Secret" plan for America.  Now I call these plans "secret" because in most elections the Democrats like to tell our wizened citizens that the Republicans have a "secret plan" to destroy Social Security.   Among the elements of the Democrat "secret plan" are tax increases on the rich, the shifting of the responsibility for the payment of all Social Security and Medicare taxes to the wealthy, imputed income schemes for homeowners, socialized medicine, confiscating a big hung of your retirement funds, taxing pension contributions, ending all but government education for your children, expanding unions, and more.

Well ... here's another element of the Democrat plan.  It's not sexy.  It's not exciting.  In fact, it's really quite dull, so I won't spend much time on it.  For some of you the danger will register.  For most of you it won't.  Congressman Barney Frank is the senior Democrat on the House Financial Services Committee.  He'll become the chairman when (if) the Democrats take over.  This morning the Financial Times is reporting that Barney Frank is suggesting that we may need a global financial regulator to rule over financial disputes between the U.S. and Europe.  A global regulator appointed by who?  Regulated by who's laws?  Responsible to what government?

To either a large or a small degree ... this can only be another attack on our national and  financial sovereignty.  This is completely in line with the Democrat Party.  Just thought you would like to know.

ONE WEEK TO GO

One week to go until Election Day...and the outlook isn't any better for the GOP.  The races may have tightened, but the outcome still stands to be the same:  As things stand now, Nancy Pelosi is going to be your new speaker-elect, though it will be close.

This is not a victory the Democrats will have earned.  It is a game the Republicans tried very hard to lose.

In the meantime, the anti-Bush, anti-Republican media campaign is in overdrive too....with the New York Times running stories about military funerals and CNN marking the 100th U.S. military death in Iraq this month.  There is no doubt as to which party the media wants to run things inside the Beltway.

So what about the Republican base?  Will they stay home in droves, as predicted, or are they going to wake up at the last minute and head to the polls?  Are they going to vote for Democrats, just out of spite?  Well, the truth...as usual...lies somewhere in the middle.  Things will be tighter than predicted.  If the election were held today, the consensus is that about 20 House races are in play, of which the Democrats need 15 to take over.  They should get that easily.

Pay no attention to national polls about George Bush's approval rating or Republican vs. Democrat.  All that matters is who registered, likely voters are going to vote for in those specific 20 districts.  It's not about George Bush or Nancy Pelosi, but rather Joe Blow vs. Mary Smith.  That's what it's all going to come down to.

As for the Senate?  The Democrats are out of luck there.  They don't seem likely to get the 6 seats they need to take over.  The more plausible scenario there is 3 seats, giving the Republicans an even smaller majority...but still leave them in control.  So now you're up to date.

HOWARD DEAN ON DEMOCRATIC CONTROL

If Democrats hadn't made the mistake of putting a radical leftist atop their party; they'd probably be looking at a 50-seat blowout in the House coming up.  But because the DNC always seems to find a way to lose, they've chosen Dean as their chief mouthpiece.  As a result, we hear from him once in awhile, despite Democrats' best attempts to keep him quiet.

The question on a lot of people's minds is this:  what will Democrats do once they control the House?  Start impeachment proceedings?  Not so, says Nancy Pelosi.  Start investigating the Bush Administration?  You bet....that will be the first order of business.  The subpoenas will be flying up and down Pennsylvania Avenue.  Get ready for a season of hearings that will make Watergate and Monicagate look like a walk in the park.

But back to Howard Dean.  He was asked on 'Face The Nation' yesterday if Democrats would be able to change the policy in Iraq if they win.  Dr. Dean stated the obvious:  "The president will still be in charge of foreign policy and the military.  I don't imagine we're going to be able to force the president to reverse his course.  But we will put some pressure on him to have some benchmarks, some timetables and a real plan other than stay the course."  You don't say.  You mean that the president of the United States will still be the commander in chief, despite the control of Congress?  Nice to know Howard Dean has read his copy of the Constitution.

Besides, even if the Democrats were put in charge of Iraq policy, they don't have any better ideas than does the Bush Administration.  Other than just surrendering to the Islamic jihadists in Baghdad and abandoning ship, that is.

MICHAEL J. FOX LETS THE TRUTH SLIP

Thankfully, this whole controversy with Michael J. Fox and the stem cell debate is winding down, but there is one final development to report.  Yesterday in an interview aired on 'This Week' with George Stephanopoulos, Fox made a very important admission.  You know that commercial he made [video] in Missouri, in support of that controversial stem cell amendment?  Well, as it turns out, Michael J. Fox hasn't even read the amendment.  Oops.

Now, two points here.  One, Fox deserves a bit of credit for admitting he hasn't read the text of the amendment.  At least he's being honest.  But second, it's typical of the Left.  They get all worked up over an issue...but in the end, don't really know what they're talking about.  But what's even more ridiculous is that George Stephanpoulos let the whole thing slide by.  If George Bush had made a commercial in support of an amendment, then admitted he hadn't read it the Vigero would have hit the fan.

And despite all the outrage a week ago over the challenging of Michael J. Fox's appearance in the commercials, you'll hear nothing in the mainstream media about his admission that he hasn't read the document.  It doesn't support their position of course.  Media bias at its finest.  Is this a great country, or what?

READING ASSIGNMENTS

They're Muslims!  The rioters in France were and are Muslims!  I repeat ... Muslims!  Why the hell can't the media at least admit that much!  Read this story from Brietbart.com .... not once in the entire story is the word "Muslim" or "Islam" mentioned.  We get references to "African decent" and "Arabs" .. but not once are the rioters identified for who and what they are ... MUSLIMS!   Western culture is at war, dammit ... and they're being goaded into this violence by Muslim leaders.  Wake up, folks.  It's high time we recognize the enemy.

A TV station manager in Maine has barred any more global warming stories.  Good for him.  This anti-capitalist, anti-American scare campaign is getting a bit out of hand.  They're even talking about a "global warming tax", whatever that is, in Europe.

So ... this 18--year-old thought it would be oh so cool to have her nipples pierced for her 18th birthday. What fun!  Yeah .. fun right up to the point that surgeons had to remove one of her breasts because of the infection.  She says she is worried about "what people are going to be thinking" when she gets out of the hospital.  Helllloooooooo!  You made the decision to have your nipples pierced!

Would you like to attend Bill Clinton's 60th birthday party?  Well, what was stopping you?  The price for admission was only a $500,000 donation to Clinton's charitable foundation!  Well ... the tickets didn't sell.  Click here to see how things went.

Here comes the taxi service in small jets!

Former House Majority Leader Dick Armey has written an op-ed for the Washington Post that is completely on-target about why the Republicans are going to lose next week.  If the GOP ever wants to come back into power, they will read Armey's piece and live it.  Be sure to check this one out.

It has been announced that Al Gore is going to be advising Great Britain on environmental policy.  I guess he finally realized nobody was listening to him in this country.  His basic advice:  the sky is falling, the end is near...and we're all going to die.  Meanwhile, the general manager of a TV station has banned global warming stories...because basically no one cares.

George Will profiles the "Help America Vote Act" and wonders if it will help America at all.  He points out that the federal government doesn't exactly have a very good track record at fixing things lately...Iraq and New Orleans come to mind.

Time magazine has George W. Bush on the cover calling him "The Long Ranger."
They create the impression that Bush is political poison and people in the GOP are avoiding him.  That would explain why large crowds, including many Republican dignitaries have appeared with him lately.

The media, always following their pro-Democrat template, is dredging up Lynn Cheney's book from 25 years ago that has some sexual content.  Yawn...is this the best they can do?  A book about a lesbian love affair?  They're going for hundreds of dollars on eBay if you happen to have one.

Speaking of Lynne Cheney, she absolutely cleaned Wolf Blitzer's clock on CNN Friday night...basically calling him an Islamic appeaser and accusing CNN of running terrorist propaganda.  Of course, the media is burying the exchange, because it makes a Republican look good.

A terrorism expert says we can expect to hear from Osama Bin Laden before next week's mid-term elections, if the past is any guide.  If you remember, it was in 2004 that Osama weighed in just before Election Day, giving the edge to George W. Bush in that contest.  People tend to vote for the national security candidate when they're reminded of the threat of Islamic terrorism.

Joe Lieberman continues to cruise to victory in his race as an Independent in Connecticut.  He's reminding people that should the Democrats take control of the Senate, he'll be in a leadership position.  Which is making Ned Lamont none too happy, since his campaign is already going nowhere.

With all sorts of polls being thrown around out there, Michael Barone looks at a big one:  party identification.  As late as 2004, it was an even split between Democrats and Republicans.  How has it changed here in 2006?  Read on to find out.

Fred Barnes points out that if you look closely, you can see where Republicans
are most vulnerable:  it is the area between Indiana and Connecticut.  Or as Barnes puts it, "The Blowout Belt."  Catchy name, but why those exact states?

Here's your second to last scary video of the day as we count down to Halloween...LSD is bad, ya hear?
