NEAL'S ON VACATION

Don't worry, the staff has made sure the Nuze will go on, for the most part. You need something to do while drinking your morning coffee.

DEMOCRATIC HYPOCRISY ON PARADE

George W. Bush, sitting in the Oval Office Monday night, made a fairly tame 17-minute speech to mark the fifth anniversary of 9/11. He talked about the global struggle against Islamic terrorism, how we must prevail and so on. He also mentioned the situation in Iraq and talked about why we had to prevail there. Pretty straightforward, don't you think? Well, not if you're a Democrat.

You see, the Democrats are now all up in arms because they say he president used his prime-time speech to try and generate support for the war in Iraq. Somehow on a day like 9/11, that is supposed to be inappropriate.

First of all, it isn't the war "in Iraq." It's a war against Islamic Fascism. Iraq is merely one of the fronts in that war. A major front, granted .. but just one of many.

Republicans weren't taking this lying down. Here comes House Majority Leader John Boehner, who called it like it is. Said Boehner, of the Democrats: "I wonder if they are more interested in protecting the terrorists than protecting the American people. They certainly do not want to take the terrorists on and defeat them." Right on John! But now the Democrat Appeasement Party is really upset.

Nancy Pelosi accused the GOP of the politics of fear, etc....the usual. All of this comes down to the charge that Bush is politicizing 9/11. But in fact, that's what the Democrats are doing. How in the world do they suppose that George Bush is supposed to give a public address from the Oval Office and not mention the war in Iraq? It's the fifth anniversary of 9/11. What is he supposed to talk about, college football?

You do understand the real problem here, don't you? Democrats don't want Bush reminding the nation of the threat that exists from Islamic fascists, and they certainly don't want Bush reminding the American people that he is trying to deal with that threat while Democrats talk of withdrawal and appeasement.

In short, they don't want Bush appearing to be strong while they appear to be weak.

Just ask yourself this question. If you were convinced that the threat from these Islamic murderers was real, who would you want in power to defend our country?

It's as easy as that.

COMING SOON TO A THEATER NEAR YOU

That British movie about the fictional assassination of George W. Bush has been picked up by a U.S. distributor for a cool million bucks. In case you haven't heard, the movie portrays the killing of the president on a trip to Chicago in 2007. Special effects and actual news footage were used to portray the assassination. How nice.

Sure, these filmmakers and this distributor have the First Amendment rights to make and show whatever film they want. It will be interesting to see just how well this plays here in the United States. Yes, George W. Bush is not too particularly popular right now....but the American people generally don't take too well to the idea of somebody harming their president. Which brings about another point.

What will the Democratic Left say in response to this movie? Will there be howls of protest from Bill Clinton over this movie, like he complained about the 9/11 program on ABC? Will Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid be coming out against this film? Maybe not. Will Howard Dean condemn the idea of assassinating the president, even though they don't agree with him? Their reaction will be one to watch for.

Imagine if this movie had been made 10 years ago about the assassination of Bill Clinton. We would have never heard the end of it.

THE DITZY CHICKS, AT IT AGAIN

There was news some weeks back that the Dixie Chicks were having trouble selling concert tickets. Seems all was not well between them and the country music set. Well, the big mouth of Natalie Maines is about to make that problem a whole lot worse. Evidently there is a Dixie Chicks documentary debuting this week at the Toronto Film Festival.

Ironically, the movie is called "Shut Up And Sing," which is a title whose advice Natalie Maines could stand to take. According to media reports, in the film Maines calls President Bush a not-too-nice name that rhymes with dumb luck. Ouch. The documentary also shows the behind-the-scenes coverage of The Dixie Chicks' waning popularity.

Natalie Maines is learning the hard way how people feel about entertainment and politics: they like to keep them separate. People buy Dixie Chicks' CDs and go to concerts to be entertained.... not attend a political rally. They don't care how she feels about President Bush, the war in Iraq...or any of it. She is an entertainer and people want to be entertained.

Imagine where their career would have been had she never opened her mouth. What a pity.

Gloria Steinem and Jane Fonda have launched a new radio network.
Supposedly this is going to be an all-women, all-talk network.  Welcome to the game, ladies.  They're starting out with 9 hours of programming a day.  The more the merrier!

The latest dreams of the Bush-bashing media and the anti-war left is not just to oppose the Bush Administration....they want to kill George W. Bush himself.  Michelle Malkin says the "kill Bush" mantra is the latest rallying cry of the Left.

Bush opponent and R.I.N.O. (Republican In Name Only) Lincoln Chafee of Rhode Island won his primary last night.  It's big media news...but he hasn't been re-elected yet.  He faces a battle in November with another Democrat.

The CBS Evening News is right where it has been for the last several years:  in third place.  Perky Katie Couric hasn't put CBS in first place for good yet, although her ratings are slightly better than Bob Schieffer's, whom she replaced.

At least some people understand the danger posed by that nutcase that calls himself the president of Iran.  Former Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu calls Mahmoud Ahmadinejad possibly more dangerous than Adolf Hitler.

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez says the theory that the United States orchestrated the attacks of 9/11 is "not absurd."  He says the twin towers could have been dynamited.  This puts him in rare company with people like Howard Dean and other Democrats.

Gas prices are dropping like a rock...heading fast to $2 a gallon.
Remember the predictions of the $4 and $5 a gallon gasoline?  Once again, those predictions did not come true...and once again, just as always, gasoline came down after the summer was over.

You know that new Senate report that says Saddam had no ties to Al-Qaeda?  Well evidently that report contradicts a federal government report from earlier this year that says Saddam did in fact have ties to Al-Qaeda.  Uh-oh...bad news for the Democrats.

Victor Davis Hanson takes a look at the hysteria over ABC's "The Path To 9/11" and wonders what all the fuss is about.  He says the movie is no more conservative in its slant than Hollywood is liberal.

John Stossel shines the light on a plan by Alaska Senator Ted Stevens and West Virginia Senator Robert Byrd to hide their pork-barrel ways.  Some in Congress had wanted to create a searchable database of such projects, but these two Senators tried to block it.

Speaking of Robert Byrd, September 17th is Constitution Day.  This commemorative day, instituted by The Grand Wizard himself, makes a total mockery of the Constitution.  So says Dr. Walter E. Williams.

Today Show's Matt Lauer interviews Debra Lafave for Dateline.[video] Maybe there should be a law against hiring hot teachers. Won't someone please think of the children?
