BOORTZ BACK HUMP DAY

Neal will be back tomorrow with fresh tales to tell. Until then, amuse yourself with some staff stuff...

BUSH SPEAKS AT THE U.N.

Today's the day....President Bush will take to the podium at the United Nations this morning to discuss his administration's plan for democracy throughout the world.  Unbelievably, in the audience will be Iran's Crazy Little Man, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.  He will speak later in the day.

President Bush says he will not meet with Ahmadinejad..saying the United States won't meet with Iran until it agrees to stop enriching uranium.  So this sets up an interesting series of events.  There will be the president of the United States, speaking at the podium at the United Nations.  In the audience will be the president of the biggest state sponsor of terrorism in the world, Iran.  And it will all be in New York, where Al-Qaeda slaughtered 3,000 innocent people 5 years ago.  Unreal, isn't it?

And watch the media coverage of the two speeches.  Bush will get up, tout democracy gains in places like Iraq, Lebanon, Afghanistan and so on.  But expect Ahmadinejad's speech to get better press.  After all, he will be criticizing the United States...a prospect the media loves.  And where does this leave the Democrats?

They have a problem.  They're expected to win the mid-term elections coming up with national security becoming increasingly important.  Will the Democrats, who hate George W. Bush and his policies, really come out in support of the President of Iran?  Keep your eye on Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid on this one.

And just what is the President of Iran doing in this country anyway?  How on Earth did that happen?  Talk about ridiculous.

POPE'S APOLOGY NOT ENOUGH

Speaking of Iran, with Ahmadinejad out of the country, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei announced that the United States should be attacked for benefiting from the Pope's comments.  Protests are continuing around the world by Islamic extremists who say that the Pope's "statement of regret" wasn't enough.  Of course, there is nothing Pope Benedict XVI could do or say that would appease these insane people.

But finally these Islamic terrorists are saying what they mean.  Al-Qaeda in Iraq said it best, saying the only acceptable thing is to convert to Islam.  And that is the real aim of the Islamofascists:  worship Allah or die.  It has been their goal for decades.  Which is why you can't reason with these people.  They don't care about peace...they don't really care whether or not Israel exists...it's all about getting rid of the non-believers.

It's a shame the Pope gave any apology of any sort.  Because nothing is ever going to be enough.  Anyone who criticizes Islam or speaks out against terrorism is going to meet the same fate.  There will be protests.  Look what some cartoons in a newspaper did awhile back.  All over the world, there are Islamic rent-a-mobs and a sycophantic international media waiting to churn out ant-Western propaganda at a moment's notice.

Because after all, the worst crime anyone can commit is to offend Muslims.  Worse than murder.  I'm surprised the Democrats aren't working on passing a law to put you in jail for it.

HOW IS THIS OUR FAULT?

A big story topping the news today is this tale of woe from a Canadian citizen who was allegedly tortured in Syria after being accused of terrorism and deported.  The thrust of today's media coverage is that all of this is the fault of the United States.  Of course, any wrong committed anywhere in the world is our fault.  The 36-year-old software engineer says he was tortured in Syrian jails before being freed in 2003.  A Canadian judge has ruled that he was innocent and cleared his name.  And all of this is supposed to be our fault.

Wait just a minute here. Let's take a closer look at what happened.  The facts speak for themselves:

  • Canadian police identified this guy as a terrorist.  It was their call...they did it.  They passed the info along to the U.S., but they made the initial call about this guy.  Fault: Canada.

  • The judge that has cleared the man says the Canadian police made a number of mistakes and passed flawed information along to the United States.  Fault:  Canada.

  • Police handed over the information without screening it for mistakes.  Again, the fault lies with Canada.
So naturally, Canada is passing the buck and blaming the United States.  After telling us this guy was a terrorist and that he was seen associating with another terrorist...what did they expect us to do?  This was right after 9/11...so we picked him up and sent him to Syria for a little debriefing.

If he indeed is innocent, then the fault lies 100% with Canadian officials.  But that's not what we're hearing today.  Oh well.

REDNECK SCRAP BOOK

You know, being redneckisn'tlimited to humans. More in the Redneck Scrap Book.

READING ASSIGNMENTS

The new Al-Qaeda commander in Afghanistan is warning Muslims to get out of Washington and New York to avoid the next major terrorist attack.  Perhaps he knows something we don't...but we do know they'll never stop trying to kill us all.

CAIR, the is complaining that anti-Muslim incidents are up 30 percent from the previous year, and they're blaming (what else) the Internet and talk radio.  What about the violent acts of Hamas, the group CAIR was spun off from?  I guess the group didn't talk about that.

Al Gore has come up with his latest bright idea...and it's on taxation.
He wants the government to tax carbon dioxide emissions instead of payrolls.  He wants to replace all payroll taxes...Social Security...the works.  So, companies that don't pollute would pay nothing at all?  This could be interesting.

A study by the Boston Globe finds that government workers take more sick days than regular workers in the private sector.  Up to 50% more.  How about this:  a policeman took 251 sick days over the course of three years.  Now that's a lot of time off.

Pat Buchanan puts the Pope's recent comments about Islam in their proper context
and wonders what all the fuss is about.  He also says the remarks merit a discussion about the history of Islam and how we got to where we are today.

Former President Jimmy Carter is running around saying that George W. Bush has redefined torture and made it acceptable.  Of course, Jimmy is always looking out for the Islamic terrorists who rose to power on his watch.

Kofi Annan has proclaimed that Iraq is on the brink of a civil war.
And just what is his organization doing about it?  Not much...just taking advantage of the opportunity to bash the United States whenever they can.

This is quite interesting...the United States military has recently handed down two sets of orders that may mean we're preparing to attack Iran.  One was an order telling a submarine to prepare to deploy and the other a request to prepare for an Iranian blockade.  Maybe we really are about to get down over there.

Thomas Sowell takes issue with those who are worried about whether or not we're being nice enough to the terrorists in our custody.  He particularly has a strong message for John McCain, Lindsey Graham and John Warner.

Professor Mike Adams, the self-proclaimed chairman of the White Faculty and Staff Association at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, shares a letter he wrote recently to the university chancellor.  Entertaining as always.
