Now ... speaking of the FairTax. I had another book signing for Somebody's Gotta Say It last night at Books-a-Million at the Discover Mills shopping mall. Once again, as in virtually every previous book signing event, I signed no less than one copy of The FairTax Book for every three copies of Somebody's Gotta Say It. This tax reform plan has captured the imagination of the American people from coast to coast. Every member of congress knows that he or she is going to get questions about the FairTax when they hold a town hall meeting (unless, of course, they carefully restrict attendees in the manner of Hillary Rodham). We're now receiving reports that at some town hall meetings aids for the elected officials will ask for questions or comments on "anything other than the FairTax."

We can get this done. It won't happen in a year, nor in two years. It took eighty years for our politicians to make the mess out of our tax system that we have today. The income tax has momentum ... it won't be sidelined overnight. Implementation of the FairTax would be the largest transfer of power from the political class to the people in the history of our Republic. These people don't willingly surrender that much power. It has to be taken from them. It's the FairTax that is gradually gaining strength -- not the opposition. Don't give up.

ENSURING DEFEAT

It's not bad enough that the peace-at-any-price Democrats want to deliver a date certain for our surrender the the insurgents in Iraq. And it's evidently not smarmy enough just to set a surrender date, but the Democrats bought votes for their surrender bill by adding pork spending to their legislation to attract recalcitrant votes. What an insult it is to our armed forces to add a bail out to spinach farmers to a bill funding their operations in Iraq.

Well ... it looks like Bush may actually deliver on his promise to veto the Democrat's surrender legislation, so Harry Reid wants to up the ante, along, of course, with the eager help of John Kerry and Russ Feingold. The next step is to pass a bill just simply cutting off funding for our troops. Just force the commander in chief to bring them home because he no longer has the funds to continue operations.

There are so many things wrong with the actions of the Democrat Party on so many levels. Showing weakness to our Islamic fascist enemies is one thing. There will be a price to be paid for this ... possibly a horrible price. Never fear, though. When the Islamic fascist terrorist move to take advantage of our weakness the Democrats, with the eager help of the media, will sidestep any responsibility by simply blaming Bush.

We're not the only ones being target by the Islamic terrorists. Although Shiites comprise a minority of Muslims, they're a strong majority in Iraq. If the United States leaves before the Iraqi government is stabilized and the Shiites and Sunnis have come to an accommodation to life together in peace, there will in all probability be a Sunni bloodbath --- followed by Iraq becoming the center of Islamic terrorism.

The constant leftist Democrat drumbeat of criticism against Bush and the Iraqi front on the war against Islamic fascism has worked. Americans no longer recognize the threat we face. It's been over five years since 9/11 .. and most Americans now view terrorism as a law enforcement problem.

We are going to pay a price .. and it will be a horrible one. The question is whether or not we will be able to respond ... even, and it's no certainty, if the American people even want to. When Islamic terrorists strike American again we might just have to sit back and take it without any military response. After all ... if we go after the Islamic terrorists we may kill women, children and innocent civilians. We can't have that, can we? America must surrender to the Islamic jihad if to fight means that innocent civilians might die!

SUPREME COURT AND GLOBAL WARMING

In a 5 to 4 vote, the liberals on the Supreme Court have decided that climate change is ruining the Earth. The church of global warming has been energized like never before. One more Bush appointee on the court and we won't have to put up with this nonsense for years to come. We're close, that is if John Paul Stevens ever retires. But back to yesterday's ruling.

Essentially, the ruling declares that carbon dioxide (CO2, for those of you laboring away in government re-education camps) and assorted greenhouse gases are classified as pollutants under the Clean Air Act. Carbon dioxide exists naturally. Trees depend on it to live. Now it's a pollutant. Nice going. This is a huge specification...one with wide-ranging ramifications. Up to this point, the EPA has refused to regulate those emissions. But in steps the Supreme Court, which has decided to accept the theory that CO2 causes global warming and something must be done.

So now car manufacturers will be made to adhere to stricter environmental controls. You might agree with that and that's all well and good, but here's where the problem lies. It is not the place of the United States Supreme Court to create environmental policy. In fact, the high court is not supposed to make new laws at all. But don't tell that to the 5 Justices that rammed this through. But it was a 5 to 4 vote...meaning 1 more Bush appointee and we'll be able to close the books on decisions like these.

John Paul Stevens is 86...good for him. But better for us when he retires.

THE MORE YOU KNOW

Let's all thank listener Susan Spratling for this informative email. You might want to put down breakfast or lunch before continuing. Or not read at all if you're seeeennnnsitive:

Did you know that the male rectum is lined with relatively thin membrane that is not built to withstand the penile thrusts associated with ejaculation? This in turn causes tears which expose blood vessels in an area heavily populated with fecal bacteria, opening the way for infection to enter the bloodstream. The female vagina, on the other hand, is thick and lubricated and fully able to handle what it was designed by its Maker to handle.

SHRILLARY SAYS WE SHOULD PAY FOR CAMPAIGNS

This is rich. Hillary Clinton now says she believes public funds should be used to finance campaigns. As if somehow this is supposed to counter the media coverage of her $26 million haul in fundraising so far this year. Please...that's the last thing we need. Because if government starts paying for campaigns, government will start choosing candidates. Remember the saying: whoever pays the piper gets to pick the tune, and this will be no different.

Evidently The Hildabeast was a bit stung by the criticism over all this money. After all, won't all these people that she's accepting money from want something in return? Do people just hand out millions of dollars without expecting something back for their investment? But it would be even worse if government were picking up the tab. Think about that for a minute....government deciding who gets elected. Politicians would have to apply for campaign welfare and the feds would decide on some basis whether or not they get the cash.

At that point, you and I would suddenly start paying for negative attack ads on TV. But wait ... sorry. That's not allowed. Remember McCain - Feingold? Political free speech is no longer on the table in this country .. not when we have an election approaching.

Public financing of campaigns is a terrible idea whose idea should never come. But like all of her other schemes, Hillary Clinton wants to reach into your pocket and pay for her ideas.

Here's a better idea: how about limiting the entire campaign season to oh...about 6 months?

Oh .. one more thing. I may be wrong -- often am! -- but didn't Hillary recently announce that she wouldn't be accepting matching federal funds for her presidential campaign? Must have been some sort of a slipup.

How Rudy Giuliani can save America.

Some in the Senate say they want to get rid of the Alternative Minimum Tax. Even some Democrats support the idea, but Herman Cain says don't be fooled. Politicians actually have no intention of getting rid of the AMT, much less shrinking the tax code.

Iran has decided there is no need to put the 15 British sailors on trial. I'm sure this has nothing to do with the fact that the United States and the UK's patience is running out with Tehran. After all, we do have a lot of big, loud bombs we could use.

A British tabloid is reporting that a botched U.S. raid in Iraq led to the kidnapping of 15 British soldiers by Iranians. After all, we made them mad because we were going to arrest some Iranians operating in Iraq. Yeah...it's all our fault, says the Euro-weasel media.

Nancy Pelosi is scheduled to meet leaders in Syria tomorrow...and says she has great hope for U.S.-Syrian relations. Great hope for what? More Islamic terrorist appeasement? More talk by Bashar Assad that he's going to stop supporting terrorism then not doing it? Yeah...great hope.

Gas prices are headed up, up, up....and Democrats are discovering
that they are powerless to control the price. But this happens every year and has for a long time. Once the summer driving season starts, we get up over $3 a gallon. What's all the fuss?

Democrats have decided they are going to have their own foreign policy. Thomas Sowell points out that the United States only has one foreign policy and that Democrats can have their own foreign policy the day they capture the White House themselves.

Cal Thomas compares the actions of Great Britain under Margaret Thatcher
in its handling of the Falklands war and now with the situation involving the kidnapped British sailors. Iran is counting on Britain not doing anything and so far, they're right.

Rudy Giuliani suddenly finds himself at the center of a firestorm involving his former police commissioner and failed Homeland Security Secretary nominee. John Fund says Rudy's best shot at avoiding the controversy is to talk about public policy.

Pat Buchanan notes that protectionism is making a big comeback in France...with the leading presidential candidate there prepared to pursue an industrial policy. But the people running the European Union are not impressed. Buchanan says there's a lesson here for the United States.

David Limbaugh says Democrats had be careful what they wish for. If we pull out of Iraq early and the country collapses, voters will hold them personally responsible. But that seems to be exactly where Reid and company are headed.
