| Thursday - April 5, 2007 Royal and I really enjoyed our book signing last night at the Books-A-Million in Fayetteville, NC. Another great crowd, and we want once again to tell you how honored we are that you came buy to see us. We were amazed and the number of people who drove in from Charlotte, Raleigh and Wilmington. Y'all should have carpooled. You could have saved some big bucks. We do today's show from the studios of 640 WFNC and then it's off to the Ft. Bragg PX for our final schedule "Somebody's Gotta Say It" book signing. And this one is very special. This evening at 6:00 Royal and I head to Ft. Bragg for our final scheduled book signing. We'll be at the North Post PX. Ft. Bragg is the home of the 82nd Airborne and our U.S. Army Special Forces. Hopefully I don't need to tell you what these men and women have been doing for us in the global war on Islamic fascism. It will be an honor to sit there and sign books as long as there are books to be signed.
There was an amazing story yesterday that got absolutely no traction whatsoever, though it should have. The Financial Times reported that for the first time since before World War I ... that's World War I, not World War II ... Europe passed the United States in the total value of all of the outstanding stocks in domestic stock markets. The Financial Times reports that some of the factors that are contributing to Europe's emergence as the world's leading capital marketplace are the rise of the Euro against the Dollar, the growth of East European markets and increased profitability of European corporations. One of the driving factors here is the profitability edge the European corporations have because of the difference in tax structures. The United States punishes corporations through its tax system, while many European nations create a much more favorable tax climate. There is a reason why Chrysler moved to Europe when it merged with Daimler instead of Daimler moving to America. I've seen research which shows that the tax treatment operating out of Germany created an 14% advantage. Now I know that many Americans .. perhaps most ... just love to hear their politicians talking about taxing businesses and corporations. After all, they think, every dollar of taxes these corporations pay will be a dollar we don't have to pay. Those of you not educated in government schools will know this to be a fallacy. Taxes, among other things, roll downhill. Every single penny of taxes paid to the Imperial Federal Government of the United States by businesses and corporations are rolled down the money line to the ultimate consumer; and the ultimate consumer is the individual. Everything you buy in the retail marketplace contains that embedded tax ... averaging about 22%.
Right now we have a political party running the Congress that is dedicated to the cause of raising taxes on both businesses and business owners. The Democrats are determined to preserve their control of the Congress ... and the way to do that is to buy enough votes - to make enough people dependent on them and their government - that losing control would be next to impossible. To do that the Democrats need money. Lots of it. They will gladly sacrifice the dominance of America in the world of free enterprise in order to maintain that power. Those of you who have any problem whatsoever with the emergence of Europe as the world's leader in business might want to get on board. Click here to sign the FairTax petition. We're trying to get 100,000 signatures by tax day. Learn about the FairTax. Study the website, read the book. Talk to your elected representatives. Tell them you are not only familiar with the FairTax, but you are also familiar with the lies being told to discredit the idea. Become proactive. America deserves to be number one. With our current tax system we're going to lose that race. Oh come on. Stop the groaning. If you can talk some other media outlets into saying something nice about "Somebody's Gotta Say It," I'll stop. Until then, I'll toot my own horn. Some of today's emails!
Says the former president "I was glad that she went. When there is a crisis, the best way to help resolve the crisis is to deal with the people who are instrumental in the problem." Right...deal with them. We all know how well Jimmy handled the last Iranian hostage crisis, don't we? Apparently in Carter's world, the best way to deal with those who are causing a crisis is to appease them. But the White House is having none of it. Said President Bush in the Rose Garden: "Photo opportunities and or meetings with President Assad lead the Assad government to believe they're part of the mainstream of the international community when, in fact, they're a state sponsor of terror." Exactly. Syria is responsible for re-supplying the insurgency in Iraq and the death of American troops. But all of this is no problem for Nancy Pelosi. There's also some whispering that the Pelosi visit might have had something to do with the freeing of the 15 British soldiers. They wish. So what's next for Nancy Pelosi? Perhaps there are other American enemies she could visit with. There's always The Gargoyle. Maybe Osama has time on his schedule for tea with Madame Speaker. REDNECK SCRAP BOOK CSI: Tuscaloosa maybe? More in the Redneck Scrap Book. READING ASSIGNMENTS
The Democrats have their panties in a knot in Washington because President Bush has named a certain somebody to be the ambassador to Belgium. Why all the fuss? Because the recess appointment is of a man who supported the Swift Boat veterans against John Kerry in 2004.Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich is backpedaling over his comments earlier in the week that bilingual education was the language of the ghetto. He called it a poor choice of words and even said he is trying to learn Spanish. Oh well.Al Gore was booed and heckled at a Canadian university over his global warming hypocrisy. Specifically, some students interrupted his presentation by calling him a liar and asking him about his swimming pools. Priceless...and it happened in Canada.George W. Bush said yesterday he realizes the American people are war-weary, but also said terrorists are pure evil. He also warned against setting a timetable for surrender in Iraq. At least somebody still thinks terrorists are evil.A man in Sacramento was arrested for shooting a teenager who was trying to steal his car. Why did he shoot the kid? Because he was protecting his private property from somebody trying to steal it. Not allowed, say the police. They say deadly force is never justified to protect your property.
Victor Davis Hanson comments on the Iranians' behavior in taking 15 British
Sailors hostage and answers the question of what should be done in
retaliation. Hanson says the reason Iran did what it did was to try and boost
its popularity in the Islamic world. | |||||
