AL-SADR
CAUSING TROUBLE AGAIN
Our good buddy and radical
Islamic cleric in Iraq Muqtada Al-Sadr is now going around saying that Iraqis
should not fight each other or the insurgents, instead they ought to fight the
Americans. Why is this SOB still alive? For years we've been told that this is
the guy in charge in Iraq, that this is the guy we need to go to. Work with Al-Sadr
and we can bring his people along...make peace and stop the insurgency. And up
until now this policy of appeasement has gotten us precisely nowhere.
So now Sadr is telling
his followers that they should fight the Americans: "You, the Iraqi army and
police forces, do not walk alongside the occupiers because they are your enemy.
I am here to advise you the honest resister hopes for two thing from God:
either victory or martyrdom. But at the same time, the honest resister should
not kill a fellow Iraqi." Well it's nice to know Al-Sadr doesn't think the
Iraqis should kill each other. I suppose that's progress.
And so this is what we get
after 4 years of "working with" Sadr. The fact is this guy's been a problem
since day one and it's time for him to go. It's time for Muqtada to experience
the Abu Musab Al-Zarqawi memorial bombing...and be sent to visit his 72 virgins
in paradise a bit early.
Bullets, not words. WHY LIBERALS WRITE COLUMNS AND EDITORIALS ....
.... and basically suck at talk radio.
In Somebody's Gotta Say It, I spend some time in one
chapter detailing why liberals are so over-represented in the print media, but
just can't seem to do well at all at the talk radio game. In short -- it's
easy to sit back and write a mindless left-wing editorial or column when you
know you won't have to confront detractors hear on. I went into yesterday's Atlanta Journal-Constitution
yesterday looking for columns and editorials to prove my point .. and found two.
One was a column bemoaning private ownership of guns; the other was yet another
editorial on the gap between the rich and the poor. OK .. time to have some fun. I'm going to take these
items separately, and show you why the people who wrote them would soon be
reduced to mipping and mupping as the callers played them like cheap drums.
I'll first present the statement the liberal "journalist" made. That part
will be in bold italics. Then we'll create some likely dialogue as if they
were saying these things while hosting a talk radio show: Ready: OK .. first out of the block is the editorial page editor
of The Atlanta Journal Constitution, Cynthia Tuckers. Cynthia appears to
be very much against the private ownership of guns. Several years ago when
the Georgia legislature was considering a law that would ease some of the
restrictions on a law-abiding private citizen getting a concealed-carry permit,
Ms. Tucker wrote that the change in the law would leave police officers dying in
the streets. The fact that at that time there had not been one single
documented incident anywhere in the country where a shooter with a concealed
weapons permit shot a police officer in the line of duty had no affect on
Cynthia Tucker at all ... she continued with her absurd predictions. Cynthia's Sunday column was entitled "Slayings sting ---
still love affair with guns lasts." Let's play talk radio with Cynthia: | "Every week in this country, men shoot their
wives, workers shoot their bosses, gang members shoot their rivals.
Most of those crimes barely merit a mention in the day's news mix." "Ms. Tucker, can you name one murder committed
with a gun in the Atlanta area over the past year that wasn't
covered in your paper?" "Well, uh, no I can't" "Do you have any statistics that will refute
the studies that guns are used for personal protection more than 2
million times a year?" "Where did you get that information." "It's from an NRA publication called 'The
Armed Citizen'." "Oh ... now you're quoting NRA statistics.
They're in favor of guns." "Actually, they're in favor of recognizing
everyone's Constitutional right to keep and bear arms. It's
Constitutional rights they're supporting, not guns.
Nevertheless, can you quote any statistics that refute their claim?" They're biased." "And you're not?" "Well I've done my research." "Great! Then share the research with us
that refutes the arguments presented in 'The Armed Citizen'.
Why don't you come on the air tomorrow with statistics showing that
the use of a gun in self defense is rare?" "I'll see if I can find it." "Did you know that a concealed carry law took
effect in Kansas on January first of this year?" "No" "Are you in favor of that law?" No, I'm not." "Have you heard of Dan Yee?" "No, who's he?" "He owns a gas station in Kansas. Just
18 days after the concealed carry law went into effect in Kansas two
men busted into his gas station. They had Yee at gunpoint,
demanding his money. There was a customer inside the store
with a concealed carry permit and a gun. He pulled his gun and
told the bad guys to drop theirs. They didn't. He shot
one of them and the other one ran. Do you think it is possible
that Dan Yee is alive today because Kansas now has a concealed carry
law?" "Well, uh ..... (mipping and mupping ensures) "Despite opposition from police officers, the
Legislature is considering a bill that would allow gun owners to
tuck their firearms under the driver's seat." "This opposition from police officers you
speak of, Ms. Tucker; is it from patrolmen on the street or from
administrators at police headquarters?" "The police have stated their opposition to
the bill." "Which police? The men and women doing
the work on the streets, or the front office spokesmen?" "I don't have the names right now." "Did you hear what happened in that Wal-Mart
parking lot in Columbia, South Carolina the first of this year?" "What?" "Well, a couple was getting in their car.
A predator walked up with a gun and shoved it into the man's stomach
and demanded the keys. The woman reached into the car and
pulled out a handgun and started firing. The carjacker ran,
but they caught him at a hospital being treated for a gunshot
wound." "So?" "Are you upset that this couple had a gun in
their car?" "Well ...... " "Kind of tough to say 'yes,' isn't it, Ms.
Tucker?" "Well ... uh ....." "Did this make it to your paper, Ms. Tucker?" "I don't remember." "It happened in our neighboring state.
The wire services had the story, yet it didn't make it into your
newspaper. Do you make it a practice to publish stores about
all murders committed with guns?" "If we know about them we'll certainly publish
the story." "What about defensive uses of handguns?" "Well ....... (more mipping and mupping.) "Republicans, of course, are wholly owned by the
National Rifle Association, which advocates a howitzer in every
home." "Can you point to one article or statement
written or made by anyone connected with the National Rifle
Association that calls for a howitzer in every home?" "Of course not." "Can you point to one article or statement
written or made by any NRA official calling for a gun of any type to
be in every home?" "Not that I know of." "Would it be fair to say that the Democrat
Party is wholly owned by the teacher's unions?" "No, I don't think so." "Of course you wouldn't." "They'll wonder how a highly advanced and
sophisticated culture allowed unchecked personal gun ownership,
despite the carnage." "Are you aware of any laws in this state or in
the country that puts any restrictions on the ownership of firearms?
For instance, do you know that in most, if not all, states it is
illegal for a convicted felon to own a gun?" "Of course I know that! What do you
think I am, stupid?" "No, Ms. Tucker, I don't think you're stupid.
I just think you're dishonest. You said that gun ownership in
our culture is 'unchecked,' when you know that there are many
controls." "But the bigger problem is the influence of an
irrational gun lobby that insists that there should be no laws
regulating gun use." "Are you saying that the NRA has adopted the
position that there should be no laws regulating gun use?" "Well, no. I'm not exactly saying that."
"But that's exactly what you did say!
You said that the IRA -- you called them an irrational gun lobby --
insists that there be no laws regulating gun use. Are you now
retracting that statement? Are you willing to debate that
point head-to-head with one of their spokesmen?" |
OK .. enough fun with Cynthia Tucker as a talk show host
spouting her anti-Second Amendment nonsense. Obviously she doesn't have
much of a future in talk radio; but, then, what liberal does? We move on now to the editorial in yesterday's AJC
entitled "Nation's wealth concentrated in a few hands; government and business
fuel the crisis." This is another one of those whiney pieces about the gap
between the rich and the poor. Just why do leftists love to play up this "gap" so much?
Well, it's because they believe that income is "distributed," not earned.
That's where they get the phrase "income redistribution". Wealth
distribution is a function of government. Earning wealth is an individual
pursuit. The Democrat Party is the party of big government, not the party
of individualism. Democrats like to play up how much more money the rich
have than the poor because it forms a basis for their drive to redistribute that
wealth by taxing the rich more and more to pay for vote-buying government
programs for the poor, poor pitiful poor. One thing you will never .. and I mean NEVER ... see in a
leftist-inspired piece on the gap between the evil rich and the sainted poor is
the fact that there is a great deal of mobility between these groups.
Every single year people who were once listed as poor move into the realm of the
rich, while those once-rich find themselves scratching to pay the bills.
In other words, the opportunities to become rich are out there, and people take
advantage of those opportunities every day. The opportunities to make poor
choices are also out there, and that's one reason why people slip into the lower
income brackets. Thus it has always been, and thus it shall always be.
This particular editorial was written by David McNaughton
for the AJC editorial board. Let's play a little talk radio with Mr.
McNaughton: | The current tax code disproportionately permits
the well-off to accumulate additional wealth even as 47 million less
fortunate Americans go without health insurance because they can't
afford coverage. "Can you cite any study which shows that the
reason these 47 million people don't have health insurance is
because they can't afford it?" " There have been plenty of
studies that show that there are 47 million people without health
insurance." "Because they can't afford
it, Mr. McNaughton? Where are the studies that show these
people -- all of them -- don't have insurance because they can't
afford it.?" "Well, there are many
reasons why they don't have insurance." "You didn't say "many
reasons." You said they didn't have insurance because they
couldn't afford it." "Yeah .. .you've already
covered that." "Can you give me the
demographic makeup of these 47 million people?" "Not specifically. I
could do some research ....... " "If you did that research,
Mr. McNaughton, would you be surprised to learn that the bulk of
these 47 million people are actually young adults who have made a
conscious decision not to buy health insurance, even though they
could afford a basic policy, because they are young and healthy and
don't think they need it just now, and they want to spend their
money on lifestyle instead?" "Well .. the fact is they
don't have health insurance." "Granted, Mr. McNaughton
... but it's not because they can't afford it --- not in every case.
Am I right?" "Well, yes ... but ...." "Then why did you write
that these 47 million people don't have health insurance
specifically because they can't afford it?" "Well, many of them can't!"
"They why didn't you write
that? Why don't you also mention those who make a choice not
to be insured, even though they could afford it?" "Well ....... " "And another thing ...
what's with this 'less fortunate' thing? For those people who
really can't afford health insurance, are you saying that it is
because they are just unlucky?" "Well, what would you call
it?" "I might suggest that
they're in the situation they're in because they don't have any job
skills. Maybe they screwed around in school instead of
actually trying to learn something. Maybe they have a terrible
work ethic. Maybe they think they're going to win the lottery
and don't really need to worry about getting a job and busting their
cans. Yet you just write them off as being 'less fortunate.'
Let me ask you something, Mr. McNaughton; do you think that the
people who have amassed wealth got that way because they were lucky? "Well, no." "Yet you seem to divide the
income groups into the 'fortunate' and the 'less fortunate.'
Couldn't you just as easily divide them in to 'achievers' and
'non-achievers,' or 'the lazy' and 'the hard workers'? Maybe
the "educated" and the "uneducated?" Why do you insist
on trying to categorize these people on the basis of luck? "Some of them were lucky.
They inherited their wealth." "What percentage of
millionaires in this country do you think actually inherited their
wealth?" "I don't know." "Less than two percent, Mr.
McNaughton. You really like pushing this "fortunate" vs. "less
fortunate" idea, don't you? "What do you mean?" "Well, here you write 'the
solution is not to penalize the fortunate.' Four paragraphs
later you refer the top 10 percent of income earners as 'the
fortunate 10 percent.' Can you show me one place in your
article where you have anything positive to say about hard work?" "Well .. no." |
OK .. enough. There are other
things to cover in the Nuze. I just had a little extra time on my hands so
I thought it might be fun to give you a little object lesson in why liberals
like to hide behind the written word or spout their nonsense in venues where
they don't have to fear rebuttal. And that, my friends, is why they suck
so badly at talk radio. FAIRTAX FAXES
It's April 9th. This is the last week before your
taxes are due. April 15th arrives on a Sunday this year -- so the
magnanimous IRS is giving you an extra few days to get your taxes in. The
deadline is April 17th.
Americans for Fair Taxation are trying hard to get 100,000
faxes sent to Washington by next week. Don't worry, we've already sent
960,000. We just need 40,000 more. Bit by bit we're making headway.
There is not one member of Congress who hasn't heard of the FairTax, and if they
tell you they aren't familiar with it, they're lying. They know what it
is, and they know how much power they would lose if it were implemented.
Now is the time to show them the level of support out there. Here's you
link .... it's all very easy.
Just click, fill out the forms and get your FairTax Fax on the way! CALLING ALL RACE PIMPS
Calling all race
pimps...Don Imus
called some Rutgers women's basketball players "nappy-headed
hos" [video] on the air last week on MSNBC and the rent-a-mobs are on the prowl. No
amount of apologizing on Imus' part is going to quench the desire for publicity
from Al Sharpton and The Sloganmaster. So was Imus wrong to say what he did?
Who knows...it certainly wasn't nice, but it's his radio show and that's for him
and his employers to work out.
So here comes Sharpton,
who has decided that this sort of hate speech just ought not be allowed. Says
Sharpton: "Somewhere we must draw the line in what is tolerable in mainstream
media. We cannot keep going through offending us and then apologizing and then
acting like it never happened. Somewhere we've got to stop this." And more
than anything he's ever said publicly, this shows the arrogance of Al Sharpton.
Since when is it up to him to decide who is allowed to offend someone and who is
not? Who decides where the line is going to be drawn, Al? What about free
speech?
Oh .. .and need we even
say it? What about rap music? If Imus can show that he didn't say
anything that isn't said day after day on urban radio stations .. .then he gets
a pass.
And so now Sharpton and
Jesse Jackson are doing their best to cash in the only way they can, by
manufacturing outrage and calling out their roving band of race hustlers. For
his part, Imus is employing the Michael Richards strategy. That is, handing his
head to his enemies and hoping they'll go away. The problem is that when you
pay blackmail, the price always goes up.
Which goes to show this
"controversy" has nothing to do with the original remarks and everything to do
with certain people lining their pockets.
I FEEL A REAL BOUT OF INSENSITIVITY COMING ON ...
AND SOME PAINFUL TRUTH I guess I spent too much time with the Sunday paper.
There's another article I want to rant about today, and Lord help me I do
believe that I am going to step on a few toes.
Georgia has a welfare health care program for children
called "PeachCare." Most of it is funded by the federal government -- that
means the American taxpayers. The story was entitled "The Face of Peach Care." Well
... if the couple featured in the article is, indeed, the "face of PeachCare,"
then this system exists to take care of people who have no real grip on the
concept of responsibility. The featured couple has three kids, one on the
way, a $327 monthly car payment ....... you get the idea ..... and apparently no
job skills that would allow them to be able to make the money to afford all of
this. So ... they rely on charity.
Here ... read the story for yourself. Then could someone please tell
me why we are continually asked to feel sorry for people who continue to have
children they simply cannot afford to raise! THE
BOOMING ECONOMY OF 2007
The Bush Administration is
correctly saying that the
current economy we're in is stronger than it was
during the Clinton Administration. This has brought the Clinton cronies out of
the woodwork who say that just isn't so. Don't expect the media to side with
Bush on this one. And of course, any time anything that took place during the
Clinton Administration is remotely criticized, the Clinton thugs step out of the
shadows to run interference. Just ask Sandy Berger, who got arrested for
stuffing documents critical of his old boss down his pants and trying to smuggle
them out of the National Archives.
Let's look at unemployment. Right now
the unemployment rate is 4.4%....a full point below where we were during the
Clinton Administration. And yet the media called the Clinton years a boom,
while times now are supposed to be a bust. Both were good economic times...just
these days are better. It is one of the most underreported successes of the
Bush Administration. And for some reason, the Republicans have been unable to
capitalize on it.
Aside
from ineffective communication, the media doesn't want the successes of the Bush
Administration to be reported. They'd rather focus on Iraq and gas prices
instead of the booming stock market and low unemployment. Media bias at work.

Just damn.
Another global
warming denier! This one from MIT! MIT, by the way, is a pretty
good school. I'm mean, it's no Texas A&M, but it's not bad. Quick,
let's burn this denier at the stake! Argentina is reasserting its claims over the Falkland
Islands. The last time they pulled this stunt the Brits sent warships.
This time? Well, my guess is that
Argentina smells weakness. Weakness begets aggression. If the
Democrats get their way we'll be learning that lesson again very soon. Here's a liberal
attack on capitalism. Read it and you might agree that it just has to
be one of the biggest loads of idiotic leftist horse squeeze you've ever read in
your entire life. I ought to have this character on the air just to play
with him.
So Disney is going to open their Fairy Tale weddings to gays. First of
all, they won't be "weddings" because there will be no marriage licences.
There merely ceremonies. Secondly .... come on, give me a break. What do
they call these weddings again? Thirdly ... perhaps it will lead to
another Baptist boycott. Yeah, like the last one had such a huge impact. The Atlanta newspaper ran
a nice little sob story about a family who relies on charity - a system
called "Peach Care - for medical care for their children. Children?
Yeah .. .They have three, and one more is on the way. Oh, and don't forget
the $327 a month for a nice fancy pickup and $50 a month for cell phones.
Yet in the entire story there is not one sentence that suggests these people
might have caused their own problems.
This just in.....Senate Democrats now say they won't cut funding for the troops.
But that's just today...perhaps tomorrow they'll change their minds. So now
Harry Reid is twisting in the wind, since he says he will cut the funding. I
thought things were going to change when these guys took over, I guess not.
President Bush is finally going to do something about illegal immigration.
Today he will give a speech in Arizona that will push border security,
enforcement of immigration laws, a guest worker program and amnesty for the 12
million illegals already here. So far he's batting .500.
Alberto Gonzales continues
to lose support in the Republican party.
This time its former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich that says he has to go.
It won't be long before the Attorney General quietly skates out the back door
and goes back to Texas.
Turns out the Iranians
weren't very nice to the 15 British sailors kidnapped at sea.
It turns out they were kept in solitary confinement for much of the two weeks.
They even threatened the female hostage with death.
This is what appeasement gets you...a whole lot of nothing. But there won't be
any repercussions for Iran.
And just why were the hostages in Iran released? We simply made a trade.
We handed over some Iranians that were captured in Iraq in exchange for the
British soldiers. A nice deal for the Iranians. Nothing like rewarding
hostage-takers.
A top hurricane forecaster says Al Gore is an alarmist,
is doing the world a great disservice and has no idea what he's talking about.
This guy isn't some sort of fringe scientist with an agenda, he's probably the
most famous hurricane forecaster there is.
John McCain filed this op-ed with the Washington Post after his most recent
visit to Baghdad. He
says things are actually better than what's being reported...you can actually
move around the city without fear of being shot. McCain continues to support
the war.
Robert Novak is in Israel to report on the situation there
between the Palestinians and the Jewish state. Are things really as bad as
Jimmy Carter says they are in his latest book? Novak says a two-state solution
may not even be possible anymore.
The six flying Imams...the
suspected Islamic terrorists that US Airways kicked off a flight in Minneapolis,
are suing not only the airline but the passengers that complained about them.
In response, Congressman Peter King has introduced a bill to protect the
passengers.
Debra Saunders takes a look at the whole controversy. Message: I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed your book! Even though I strongly disagree with you in some areas, I still
believe your book should be a must-read for anyone who cares about
our country and it's future! So much so that I paid my 18 year-old
son $50 to read it! After he agreed, he confessed to me that he had already planned to
read it and had even read a couple chapters already! He wasn't,
however, about to turn down the $50! Ha! | Message: Hey Neal last summer I started listening to your show, and on the
first show I heard you say something that got me really mad. You
said that "only dumb people were poor" well I was beside myself with
anger until I stopped and thought about what you had said and then I
realized, you are right totally the less education a person has the
less money they make. Since that show I have started going to a
college here in the city where I live. And I owe it all to you and
the courage you have in being able to say what's right no matter how
unpopular it might be. | Message: Neal, I just finished reading Somebody's Gotta Say It and wanted to
drop you a quick note of thanks. Last year, my wife and I pulled our daughter out of government
school after she completed her first year (kindergarten) because she
complained on a daily basis how boring school was. My wife and I were also turned off by the fact that the govt
employee teaching the class took the school supplies on day one and
redistributed my daughter's favorite writing supplies. That was a
tough event to explain to my daughter. Both of our daughters are now THRIVING in Montessori. The cost is a
strain on our family budget but I am making it work. Our neighbors
think we are crazy for paying for private school. They are
clueless. It's difficult to explain to them why we made this
decision (i can't explain it like you do). Your book has helped me
understand better how to explain to naysayers why we made the
decisions we did with regards to our daughter's education. | Message: Neal, I just finished "Somebody's gotta say it" and I have to say, it was
hilarious and refreshing. I live in Texas and get tired of people saying I'm a "republican"
since I'm not a complete off the reservation liberal. It's about time someone wrote a book on the political landscape for
people who actually think for themselves and don't buy into the
liberal "let's punish successful people" left and the evangelical
pandering right. |
