I'm lovin' it. Finally the Bush Administration seems to be standing up and getting their side of the story told .. loudly. Just two days ago Bush mentioned enemy casualty figures in the war against Islamic fascism. Up until now we've been pretty much limited to details on how many American soldiers were killed on any given day or month. Yesterday - finally - the president told the American people that this year our soldiers have been killing an average of 1,500 Islamic radicals a month. Good. Wish it were more. The American people need to know that our guys are doing their job ... sending these Muslim menaces to their final rewards. Now we're getting some interesting details of an interview of National Intelligence Director Mike McConnell published in the El Paso Times. McConnell has disclosed some interesting new facts about how our courts have made it difficult to monitor conversations between terrorist suspects - even if they aren't in this country! Some gems from the McConnell interview: If you have an Islamic terrorist suspect in the Middle East talking to another Islamic fanatic in Indonesia .. and if that conversation goes through a switching station or some wire in the United States, then our intelligence agencies need to get a warrant to listen to what's being said. Come on now. Can you imagine anything more absurd? Neither of these Islamic goons are in this country, and neither of them have any Constitutional protections whatsoever. Neither of them are entitled to any due process under our laws ... yet our good guys have to get a freaking warrant to listen to what they're saying to each other? Then there's the FISA court. FISA stands for Foreign Intelligence Secrecy Act. This is the super-secret court that is supposed to expedite warrants that allow our intelligence agencies to monitor conversations between Islamic terrorist suspects overseas and an individual in this country. How long does it take to get one of these warrants? Try 200 hours. That's 200 hours to get one warrant to monitor one telephone number. Is this how we fight the war against these Islamic fanatics? Oh ... one more thing. Just how many people inside this country are currently being monitored because of their contacts with known terrorist suspects? Try 100. That's it. Just 100. This is what the Democrats have been screaming and rendering their garments over. Who the hell's side are they on, anyway? Now we have a law ... a law for the next six months, anyway ... that gets our intelligence people around some of these problems. The Democrats have made it clear that they are going to do everything to kill that law as soon as they can. And you want to trust these people with our security? Let us know how that works out for you. A police officer in Cleveland, Ohio pulled over a woman for "erratic driving." It turns out that the woman had a blood alcohol content of .23 percent, which is three times the state limit. State Patrol Trooper Jason L. Turner handcuffed the woman and put her in the back of his patrol car. There was only one problem ... he forgot to engage the safety lock. Don't you just hate it when that happens? While the trooper searched the woman's car and talked to the tow truck operator, the drunk woman proceeded to get out of the patrol vehicle and walk down the highway. The trooper got back into the car, assuming the woman was in the back, and drove off. It was nighttime. He got back to his post and realized she wasn't in the car. The escaped drunk woman ended up getting hit by several cars and died. Now the state agreed to pay $350,000 to the estate of the drunk woman.
And we're not talking public drunkenness ... the police will have the authority to issue "directions to leave" to people that they even think will cause an alcohol related disorder. The orders can be given to people who haven't even consumed alcohol but whom police believe are about to begin consuming alcohol and who look like could become a problem. The order lasts up to 48 hours and perpetrators will be handed a form describing the area from which they are banned. In some cases, they might even get a map showing the zone from which they are excluded. The police can then take a video or photograph of the perpetrators in order to enforce the orders. This is all an attempt of government to use its power to curb behavior, rather than addressing the real issue - excessive drinking.
Annalisee Brasil is 14 years old from Longview, Texas. She is considered a "genius" with an IQ greater than 145 (that's the top 0.1% of the population). There's only one problem ... no government schools were willing to accept Annalisee. While Annalisee needs to skip at least three grades, the government schools in districts as far as Dallas wouldn't let her enroll in any grade other than one with children her own age. She was doing sixth-grade work when she was seven years old. Research shows that grade skipping usually works well for gifted students and holding them could be dangerous. In fact, gifted students drop out at the same rates as non-gifted kids. Who can blame them. Here they have the government trying to dumb them down. Well .. you probably saw this coming. Annalisee's parents decided to home school her. That was until Annalisee surpassed her mother's ability to teach her. So Annalisee's mother decided to move 1,700 miles to Reno, Nevada where there is a school for gifted children. Do you hear that? She picked up and moved herself and her child (leaving the father to continue working in Texas) so that her daughter could get a good education. Hammering government schools? You bet. You keep coming back to this website day after day after day, and I'm going to do everything in my power to point out every single day the shortcomings - the absurdities - of our government schools. We and our children are held captive by a system whereby our money is taken away from us by force and then used to fund a vast enterprise across this nation that exists for no purpose other than to support the most powerful union in existence in this country .. .the teacher's unions. Intuitively each and every one of you knows that the private sector could be doing a better job of giving parents the choices they need to insure a quality education for their kids. The child should follow the money, not the other way around. Each parent should have a voucher from the local taxing authority, and then be allowed to use that voucher to send their child to a school - be it government, private sector or parochial - that they chose. Government schools and the fools who run them are contributing greatly to the debasement of our country. It's time to do something about it.
In Columbus, Ohio there are two publicly-funded charter schools: International Academy of Columbus and Westside Academy. They are operated by Islamic extremists associated with the national and Ohio chapter of CAIR. At least one of the schools has hosted an anti-Israel CAIR-OH "teach-in" in the past year. CAIR's national vice chairman, Ahmad Al-Akhras, is one of the incorporators of both charter schools and the treasurer of International Academy. Also on the board of both schools is Abukar Arman. You might remember him from a story two weeks ago where he was forced to resign for the Ohio Homeland Security panel for his connections and sympathy with terrorists. Arabic is part of their core curriculum. Thus their standardized test scores (on English language exams) are well below average, and the school only meets 2 out of 19 state indicators for proficiency. However, the schools continue to receive millions of dollars in taxpayer money every year to keep it open and renew their contracts. Because there are so many Somali refugees attending the schools, both of the schools qualify for tens of thousands of dollars in federal grants under Title III. Furthermore, the Ohio Title III Director is none other than Al-Akhras' and Arman's business partner, Abdinar Mohamud. How much longer are we going to put up with this nonsense? Every day you think that the news about government education can't get any worse ... and every day it does.
READING ASSIGNMENTS The Mexican government is siding with Elvira Arellano, protesting her deportation from the US. Como se dice en Espanol "The Mexican government can shove it where the sun doesn't shine." They also approved a scholarship for her son, a US citizen, to stay in the US. Officials in Tulsa, Oklahoma say that tens of thousands of illegal immigrants are leaving because of new illegal immigration laws that are going into effect soon. You see? They're not being deported .. they're self deporting! Actually, they'll just go to where the law isn't enforced. Fine .. let the people in those communities suffer. Apparently the NAACP has its pants in a wad over this cartoon (also below) which was published in a Jacksonville paper.
US officials warn of increased violence during Ramadan. Why? To counter the anticipated report on the way from General Petraeus. Democrats are hoping that this increase violence actually happens ... remember, they're invested in defeat. An Iraqi man is a hero after saving the lives of four American soldiers and eight civilians from a suicide bomber. Bill Clinton claims that he gave orders to kill Osama Bin Laden ... now we learn that, once again. Clinton lied. Hopefully you aren't surprised. It seems to be a family trait. New Jersey is changing its laws on illegal immigrants, notifying immigration officials if an illegal immigrant is arrested. Although violence in Iraq is arguably better, US officials say that the government will endure "political struggle" for at least the next year. After a money scandal embarrassing Venezuela and Argentina, guess who is being blamed ... the United States! The Senate is planning a hearing about the collapsed coal mine. When it comes to "climate change" America must follow UN guidelines. The top UN climate change officials says that it is important to "bring this back to the UN process." Get out your calendars. August 28 is officially "national day of protest to focus attention on the scourge of illegal gun trafficking." Isn't this sweet? Hispanic churches are now being so kind as to add English services. A woman stabs her estranged husband while having sex with him? Sounds like there's more to this story that we don't know. | ||||
