| Friday, December 28, 2007 JUST CAN'T HELP MYSELF ... AGAIN Yeah ... still on vacation ... and Herman Cain is still filling in. While Herman is sweating over a hot microphone today I'll be batting little white balls all over some hideously expensive golf course somewhere not here. Just the same .. you just can't help commenting on some of the stories I've been reading over the past day or so. Some rapper named Yung Joc says he wants to clear his name. As long as Jasiel Robinson runs around calling himself Yung Joc clearing his name is something that's just not going to happen. But ... it isn't as bad as "L'il Bow Wow." The "Hip Hop Culture." Gotta love it. By the way. "Mr." Joc says he respects the laws of this country. If that is the case then let him make a statement against the "no snitching" movement the next time he's on stage in front of an audience. Speaking of music ... Album sales are down 21%. Considering the crap that's out there, it's no wonder. If it weren't for Josh Groban things would even be worse .. at least this guy can carry a tune. Here's your story. Then there's President Bush's statement after the killing of Benazir Bhutto was wimpish .. at best. Not once did he invoke the dreaded "Islam" or "Islmanic" word. What happened to Bhutto yesterday goes to the core of this menacing religion. Pakistani President Perves Musharraf had the guts to say "Islamic extremists." George Bush did not. Just remember, these people didn't do anything to Benazir Bhutto that they wouldn't like to do to tens of millions of Americans. The threat is only going to get worse until we start calling Islam what it truly is ... a glorified death cult. If Muslims want to change this perception then let them stop whining about their negative image and start doing something positive to change it. Someone slipped a single mother of several a fake lottery ticket in Naples, Florida a week or so ago. She scratched off the numbers and thought she had won $25,000. She was wrong. There followed a general gnashing of teeth over how cruel this person was to have slipped this woman a fake lottery ticket. Cruel hell. He did her a favor. She learned a lesson there. If you want that $25,000 ... if you want to improve your life, you have to depend on yourself. You aren't going to win the lottery. Nobody is going to come up and give it to you. OK ... so you're selling bait on a pier. What are you doing when you get off work? How many courses are you enrolled in at your local community college. What positive steps are you taking to get the deadbeat dad to pay some child support. How much time do you spend after you put the kids to bead reading or working online to improve yourself? Or ... are you waiting for that magic lottery ticket. Protestors in Atlanta. The local charity hospital is being turned over to a private non-profit organization to run. The deadbeats and freeloaders are protesting the move citing their fears of a "loss of services." So .. what services are they going to lose? Will they still be treated -- for free -- if they show up with a medical emergency? Of course they will. Are they going to be able to continue using Grady Hospital as the center of their social life? Possibly not. Let me tell you how bad things are with this hospital. Let's say you live about four or five miles from downtown and you want to go do a little shopping. You'll pay for a cab back home, but a free ride to town would be nice. So .. you call Grady and say the magic words: "I'm having trouble breathing." Here comes the Grady ambulance .. your free ride downtown. You lose yourself in the chaos of the emergency room -- where most of the patients have no medical emergency at all -- and go do your shopping. Nice scam. Your taxpayer's dollars at worst. Trust me ... Grady will continue to operate as a so-called "safety net" hospital where people go with the slightest scratch or sniffle .. people who will call their friends on their cell phones to bitch about having to pay a few bucks for treatment or a prescription. The latest global warming nonsense? Glad you asked. Here's a commentary from the Baltimore Chronicle & Sentinel which says that global warming will eventually save America from the evil right wing. They wish. OK .. gotta go warm up on the driving range. AND A FEW END OF THE YEAR TIME WASTERS Just in time to impress the ladies at all the New Year's parties...James Brown teaches you how to dance. Dig it! Waste time AND test your geographic knowledge with this online game. Warning: addictive. It looks like Jack Bauer has been doing a little moonlighting in Japan. Browse this Library of Congress collection of Civil War photographs. What's a home cooked meal like in Taiwan? The internet can answer that question for you. | ||
