SORRY FOLKS

Locked out of my computer this morning (thank you Sarbanes-Oxley) so I'm a bit late trying to get some notes together. So I guess we'll have to deal with some random thoughts and anything else I can gin up.

So .. .what in the hell is on my mind today?

Did you hear that questioning of Condi Rice before a congressional panel yesterday? Someone .. .and I don't have the time to figure out who it was just now, was questioning about the State Department firing some Arabic and Farsi translators because they were gay. The questioner suggested to Condi Rice that if we are so afraid of homosexuals perhaps the terrorists could gin up a platoon of lesbians to chase us out of Baghdad. Ever since I heard that sound bite my mind has been completely occupied by the image of a platoon of lesbians. Imagine flannel camo.

NANCY PELOSI'S WINGS CLIPPED

Well, it turns out Nancy Pelosi has been limited in her jet size request by the Department of Defense. They aren't giving her as big of a plane as she requested. She went on Greta Van Sustern's show yesterday to defend herself, saying the transportation wasn't her idea and she was willing to fly commercial. But she did keep saying she didn't blame the president. Evidently he told her personally that he would get her whatever she needed for her security.

The official word from the Pentagon on the issue is that Pelosi will get the same thing her predecessor got...a smaller commuter jet, one that will require refueling between D.C. and San Francisco. Nancy is not happy about this. She was really looking for a non-stop solution. And that's not all, the military will also be monitoring who gets to fly home with The Speaker at taxpayer's expense. So much for the friends and family package, huh?

On Fox News yesterday, Pelosi said she would be willing to fly commercial. Why not hold her to that? After all, if she doesn't like the arrangements being provided by the military, she could always hop on a non-stop flight from Reagan National home.

As one congressional source put it, "non-stop service is not guaranteed." Priceless.

I do want some credit here for not making any broom references.

Wait a minute .. .I just made a broom reference, didn't I?

BACK TO WASTING TIME IN THE SENATE

The Senate is back to wasting time....now we have 7 Republicans (the usual suspects...Hagel, etc.) saying they want to debate another war resolution. Yet another non-binding Iraq resolution that does nothing to stop the war. Do these people even work for a living? No .. .they posture for a living.

Evidently some Republicans are uncomfortable with the idea that debate was cut off on debating Iraq earlier this week, even though it was really Democrats that limited the debate. They didn't want to allow other resolutions to be discussed on the floor, so the whole thing was voted down. But don't tell that to the media. It's always the Republicans' fault, you know. So here we go again with more Iraq debate. And to what end?

Other than filling dead air on C-SPAN and providing a platform for the many Senators running for president, the whole entire affair is going to be a complete waste of time. Not one U.S. Senator (except for 1 or 2) is going to vote to cut off funding for the war. So if they're not going to do anything to end the war, then why debate it?

Evidently they think people care. So now people like Chuck Hagel and John Warner will go back to being the most important members of the Republican Party (according to the media, whenever they oppose the president.) Maybe we'll at least get some good Joe Biden quotes out of it.

REDNECK SCRAP BOOK

This video seems to prove that even in the animal kingdom there's a version of "hey y'all, watch this!" More in the Redneck Scrap Book.

READING ASSIGNMENTS

BOORTZ POWER LUNCH TODAY!

Listen today 11:30-1pm to hearĀ  what guest Dick Morris has to say about Hillary Clinton on the Boortz Power Lunch. And Atlanta area people, you have until 11am ET to register to win an $8,000 pair of diamond earrings to be given away during the show, courtesy of Solomon Brothers.

No surprise here: the United States is currently frustrated by Europe's lack of any willingness to sanction Iran. The Euro-weasels have been appeasing Islamic terrorists for decades....what made anyone in the government think this time would be any different?

Dick Morris has been busy handicapping the 2008 presidential race.
His latest proclamation? John McCain is too liberal and Hillary Clinton is like Richard Nixon...she lies about everything. He says McCain may be the frontrunner now, but he'll fade away.

John Edwards is coming under fire for his lavish new mansion
he has constructed in North Carolina. Evidently people think this doesn't square too well with his "two Americas" routine. He made his money from personal injury lawsuits, so if you've been injured in an accident, give him a shout.

Following in the footsteps of President Bush in his two successful campaigns for president, Barack Obama has shunned public funding for his presidential campaign. Here's the real question: will Mr. Campaign Finance himself, John McCain, refuse public money? That will be one to watch.

Robert Novak says the Republicans' limiting debate on the Iraq war
legislation made them look like obstructionists. Don't tell that to Mitch McConnell, who could care less. Perhaps he'll cut off debate on some of these other war resolutions.

Victor Davis Hanson has read Dinesh D'Souza's new book,
and his review is not exactly complimentary. He says D'Souza's prescription for what to do about Islamic terrorists isn't all that different than some on the Left.

Ann Coulter takes the cable news channels to task for their coverage
of the Scooter Libby trial. She also points out that it has been proven over and over again that Joe Wilson lied about his trip to Niger. But don't tell that to MSNBC.

Professor Mike Adams, always willing to take on the Leftist establishment at college campuses,
is naming names in today's column. For instance, one university refused to spend money on a speech Adams gave...but they funded some other interesting projects. Always a good read.

President Bush submitted an almost $3 trillion budget to Capitol Hill, and despite all of the money being spent, would you believe some Democrats don't think it's enough. Cal Thomas profiles one such Democrat in the Senate who thinks Bush is a cheapskate.

With the news yesterday that billions of dollars in cash was sent to Iraq, never to be seen or heard from again, Matt Towery tells us it's time to get outraged. The American taxpayer has a right to know how their money is being spent in Iraq.

Come on people, you're disappointing my loyal listeners with your lame hate mail. Some have even taken it upon themselves to write a creative hate mail to me. If you're not hopping mad at me for something, I'm not doing my job. Let's see if we can get some honest, heart-felt, scathing diatribes in the ol' inbox.
