THANKS TO DICK MORRIS AND JAMIE DUPREE

What a great time we had yesterday with our Boortz Power Lunch from Ruth's Chris Steak House in Sandy Springs, Ga. For 90 minutes Morris and Dupree discussed the lay of the land in for the next presidential beauty contest. They also discussed Hillary. Dick Morris is convinced that Hillary Clinton is going to be our next president, and that this will be one of the best things to ever happen to the Republican Party. Hillary, according to Morris, will be the worse president in the history of this country .. and that she will be put into office with the vote of single American women. Oh .. and Morris agrees with Hillary's Yale professor who called her a socialist.

This horrid woman is actually going to pull this off.

You can get Dick Morris' three weekly columns in your email inbox by registering at DickMorris.com! They're well worth it. This man understands Washington politics.

HOW MANY FEET?

Parts of the Northeast United States have been nailed by six to seven feet of snow. No ... that's not six to seven inches, we're talking six to seven feet! For those of you educated in government schools, that would be from 72 to 84 inches. They're expecting another two feet perhaps by the end of the day. Why? Well ... global warming, of course! What else would cause record snowfalls other than global warming?

By the way, expect the autopsy report on Anna Nicole Smith to place the blame for her death on catastrophic sudden climate change. Yup ... global warming again.

This morning I heard CNN's Soledad O'Brien say to weatherman Chad Myers "If I had a dollar for every time I've heard you say 'It's going to be cold' I could retire!" There you go ! It's that gol-durned global warming again!

CLARK HOWARD MUGGED!

Nationally syndicated consumer guru Clark Howard has just returned from Madrid, Spain. He tells me he loved Madrid .. but he got mugged by two men! Did Clark take that laying down? Why HELL no! Am I going to tell you what he did? No way! I'll leave that for Clark to share with you .. and for that you're going to have to wait for his show on Monday!

Hint: You don't want to get between Clark Howard and his Euros.

THE AMAZING AIR PELOSI MESS

I thought this woman was supposed to be a shrewd political operative. Sure isn't looking that way lately. How could a super-political like Nancy Pelosi let this kafuffle over how she gets back and forth to her home district get so out of control?

The story is really a bit pathetic, and it just won't go away! Nancy Pelosi wants the Pentagon to fly her back and forth between Washington and San Francisco. Fine, that' s fair. Republican Speaker Dennis Hastert had access to a Pentagon Gulfstream III to fly him back and forth to Illinois. Good enough for him, good enough for her.

But wait! Evidently that isn't good enough for her? Princess Nancy wants a bigger plane! She wants a 757! Something, I think, about being able to fly non-stop to San Francisco. Well, the G-III is fully capable of that mission ... if, that is, the airplane isn't loaded down with an entourage. But evidently that is what Pelosi wants! She wants friends, family members and other members of the California delegation to be able to fly with her! More people, less fuel. Less fuel, less range. Oops! Now she needs a 757? And don't forget her wealthy friends in the tuna industry! They might want a ride too!

She even delivered a backhanded suggestion that she was being discriminated against because she's a woman. Then she suggested that Don Rumsfeld may be behind the Pentagon's turn-down of the 757 request.

Now Pelosi says she is even said willing to fly commercial, as long as it was a direct (I think she means non-stop) flight. Here's an idea...why not take her up on that? Wait! I think I see the problem here. There are no non-stop flights between Washington-Reagan and San Francisco. That means Nancy might have to go to Dulles airport. Well ... there is one flight from Dulles to San Francisco that I could find, but then any self-respecting congressman just flat-out doesn't want to have to go to Dulles to catch a flight. Andrews Air Force Base is MUCH closer.

And then .. in the middle of this whole mess .. we have John Murtha spouting off! You remember Murtha, don't you? He's the man who has been slamming our troops in Iraq .. accusing them of killing Iraqi civilians "in cold blood." Well now this Democrat hero is dropping dark hints that funding for the Pentagon may suffer if they don't cave and hand Nancy her 757! Come on, folks. Can you believe this? We have a Democrat congressman ... a congressman that was being considered for the position of House Majority Leader ... virtually threatening the our military with a loss of funding if they don't give his benefactor, Nancy Pelosi, a nice plush 757 to fly back and forth from DC to San Francisco!

Imagine how much fun this is all going to be when they increase their control of the Congress and get The Hildabeast in the White House!

A BIT OF A PROBLEM WITH CNN THIS MORNING

CNN's Bob Franken "Shortly thereafter her secret cover was blown in press reports." That is factually incorrect. It has never been established that Valerie Plame had any secret status at the CIA when her name surfaced. Remember, nobody has been charged with "outing" an undercover CIA agent. And why not? Because it didn't happen. Plame wasn't undercover. She was pushing papers at a desk in CIA headquarters. Now ... the question is whether or not Bob Franken realizes this. Did he know the truth and just make the decision to use the "secret cover was blown" line to push a political agenda? Or can we say that Franken is ignorant of the facts.

HATE MAIL OF THE DAY

Now THIS is more like it! Boy did I get under Will's skin....

I am an occasional listener to your show and will never do so again. How dare you refer to a US Senator, Hillary Clinton, as a "creature." You are showing your lack of intelligence and class. Someone who supposedly has a law degree and is using it as a "talk show host" has nothing to be proud of and certainly should not be engaged in name calling. Your reputation as a loose cannon is well earned. No wonder you have little credibility and are not a major player in the talk show industry. I remember a couple of years ago seeing you on Phil Donahue's show. Believe me, in comparison, you do not fare well. Please clean up your rhetoric as you are an embarrassment to Atlanta.

FAIRTAX NEWS

Congressman John Linder (R-Ga), co-author of The FairTax Book and the father of the FairTax in the U.S. Congress has shared some news with stalwart FairTax supporters. I received this email from him yesterday and thought I would share it with you:

Dear Fair Tax Supporter:

With so much happening on Capitol Hill during the change from Republican to Democrat control, I have not had an opportunity to update you on the status of the FairTax. I have heard from many of you who fear that the change in power on Capitol Hill has doomed the FairTax, but I am writing to tell you that nothing could be further from the truth.

A decisive election like the one last November has an uncanny way of focusing politicians on the real reasons that their constituents sent them to Washington . Given the broad nationwide support of the voters for the FairTax, this refocusing is very good news for the FairTax cause.

The opportunity for FairTax this year was obvious on the very first day of this 110th Congress. I reintroduced H.R. 25 on that day, and I did it with more than twice as many original cosponsors than we had for its introduction in the last Congress. Even more exciting, I was able to introduce the FairTax as a bipartisan bill for the first time since 2003. Congressman Dan Boren, a Democrat from Oklahoma , joined me and 23 other colleagues from 11 different states to reintroduce the bill on January 4, 2007. Never before has the FairTax been reintroduced with such broad support.

This record-setting first day of the 110th Congress was only the beginning. Today, just over one month into this Congress, the FairTax and its supporters have amassed an extraordinary 52 cosponsors from 24 states. To put this accomplishment in perspective, in the 107th Congress, we never came anywhere close to this number; in the 108th Congress, we only barely achieved it after two full years; and in the last Congress, the 109th, the FairTax reached 52 cosponsors only after 15 months of hard work by volunteers across the country. As of today in the 110th Congress, the FairTax has garnered this level of support after just one month. Friends, I am under no illusion that we will continue to double the number of Congressional FairTax cosponsors every 30 days, but I am certain that this record-breaking start will produce more broken records and surpassed milestones for the FairTax as we move forward.

As you celebrate these early successes with me, I encourage you to make particular note of the FairTax cosponsors who have never before cosponsored the legislation. Among these names are freshmen Congressmen Timothy Walberg from Michigan and David Davis from Tennessee and veteran Congressmen Dave Weldon of Florida and Ed Whitfield of Kentucky . Another new name on the FairTax that I know you will want to notice is long-time supporter but first-time cosponsor, former Speaker of the House, Dennis Hastert.

Of course, the success we are seeing on Capitol Hill is simply a reflection of the enthusiasm for the FairTax that is growing across the entire nation. Hundreds of thousands of people have joined together with Americans for Fair Taxation to promote the FairTax. Newspaper articles and editorials are being written almost daily to help educate people on the many benefits of the FairTax, and FairTax rallies are being attended by thousands of people. I want to continue to participate in these exciting FairTax events, and I hope that you will join me at one of them.

The FairTax will be the next grassroots revolution, but the FairTax is a huge idea that will take a great deal of passion to enact. I encourage you to get out there and support the FairTax by telling your friends and neighbors. Everyone knows that the income tax code is complicated and oppressive, but not everyone knows that the FairTax will free them from this intrusive burden. One-by-one, we will win their hearts and minds.

Congratulations to you and all other FairTax supporters on the incredible success that we have seen so far this year. Together, if we remain firm in our commitment and dedication to the cause, we will make the FairTax a reality.

My best,

John Linder

I was told by someone in Congressman Linder's DC office that this information was outdated almost as soon as the letter was sent, as more cosponsors sign on.

See? The news from Washington isn't all bad.

MUSLIM VIOLENCE (Oh wow! Now that's news, isn't it?)

A walkway at a Mosque in Jerusalem was damaged by an earthquake and heavy snowfall a few years ago. Well ... let's see. Snow damages walkway. What is the next logical step? A rational human being would say that the next logical step would be to repair the walkway. So .. the Israelis try to fix the walkway ... to repair it after the damage. Now the walkway is next to a mosque. The Israelis offer to install Internet web cameras so that any concerned parties can watch the work and see that the mosque is not being damaged. Well, of course, that's not good enough for Muslims. This whole repair effort on the walkway is seen as just another excuse for Islamic violence. The great and wonderful "religion of peace" (my ass) can't even sit back and watch a simple walkway being renovated without rioting.

The radical followers of this religion are threats to the peace virtually everywhere in the world. A cartoon you don't like? Riot! Repairing a walkway? Riot! A book that offends you? Death sentence!

BUSH MISSED CHANCE FOR PEACE WITH IRAN?

A document has surfaced that Newsweek is reporting supposedly shows George W. Bush blew a chance to make peace with Iran in 2003. Who are they kidding? How do you make peace with a country calling you The Great Satan and sending terrorists into Iraq to blow your soldiers up? Are you telling me that Newsweek is really taking this stuff seriously?

Supposedly the Iranians faxed a proposal for negotiations to Washington through the Switzerland ambassador 4 years ago. The implication is that the Bush Administration, eager to go to war with Iran, simply ignored the proposal. I wonder if the Iranians were offering to stop enriching uranium, stop training terrorists and discontinue their harboring of Al-Qaeda fugitives? Those would be some good starting points. Needless to say, Iran's "offer" was not taking seriously.

As much as the Left and the media would hate to admit it, there is every probability that the U.S. may have to use military force to bring Iran down a notch or two. Especially now that they're training terrorists to fight and kill American troops, then sending them to Iraq. That is what we call the enemy. In another time, we would be bombing Tehran right about now. But there's no support in the world to do that, mainly because most countries deal with Iran for their oil.

And, in other news, the Iranians have a fax machine. They're moving up in the world!

Boortz vs Clark Howard on minimum wage!

In case you missed it last week, here's a replay of Neal debating

consumer guru Clark Howard on the minimum wage!

John Edwards has really stepped in it this time. Evidently some people who work for him posted some intolerant statements about Catholics on a blog...and Edwards is refusing to fire the bloggers in question. Let the controversy begin.

One airline is going to start imposing a $475 surcharge for an extra bag.
This should prevent people from trying to bring the kitchen sink with them on the airplane. Here's another idea for a surcharge: how about an extra charge for kids that don't behave themselves?

Dr. Walter E. Williams...that's right, the economist and columnist we regularly feature here in Reading Assignments, is being pushed to run for president. Turns out the author of a cartoon strip isn't particularly excited by the current slate of candidates.

So what are the big issues going to be in the 2008 campaign? If you ask Hillary, it's health care. If you ask some Republicans, it's the war on terrorism. If you ask Mort Kondracke, it's something called "income insecurity."

Larry Kudlow points out that in their drive to tax profits, liberals should point out that they're also going to be taxing people. He writes this in response to ExxonMobil's recent announcement that they earned the most profit in one year ever.

Is the current situation in Iraq a civil war? Charles Krauthammer says maybe so, but he says it's a comedy of bureaucracy the way government officials sit around trying to decide whether or not to call it one.

National Review's Byron York checks in on the Scooter Libby trial, and in particular the recent testimony of NBC's Tim Russert. Byron York says Russert's testimony creates a dilemma of sorts for the Left...since they hate Tim Russert too.

With Rudy Giuliani the current GOP front-runner, Mona Charen wonders in her latest column whether or not he is actually a true conservative. She comes away from her analysis convinced that Giuliani is at least not a liberal Republican.

David Limbaugh reports on a recent guest of the Democrats at their annual winter meetings.
Evidently this Muslim Imam has quite the history of supporting terrorists. As the saying goes, people are known by the company they keep.

Unions are slowly on their way out, but don't tell that to the Democrats. They're still trying to preserve one of their biggest cash cows...one of their largest source of campaign contributions. Linda Chavez takes a look at one such piece of legislation.

You'll notice I didn't say much about Anna Nicole Smith in the notes today. We might get to it on the air. You'll just have to tune in and see. That's not going to stop us from crassly taking advantage of her by posting a photo gallery. At least 50% of you will go look, because men are pigs, no exceptions.

SOMEBODY'S GOTTA SAY IT!

It's done. All the editing is over. "Somebody's Gotta Say It" will appear on your bookstore shelves on Tuesday, February 20, 2007. The autographed first editions have sold out so if you want my mark on your book, you'll need to catch me at one of my book signings. Or if you just want to get to reading, order it online here.
