THANK YOU JACKSONVILLE!

What an incredible book signing at the Hyatt Regency Riverfront hotel in Jacksonville last night. The hotel ballroom was packed ... and before the evening was over we had signed over 1000 books. I'm pleased to report that many people are also buying copies of The FairTax Book .. and we were more than happy to sign those too.

After the show today from our WOKV studios in Jacksonville we'll head for Orlando. Tonight we'll be at the Borders in Winter park at 600 North Orlando Avenue. The signing starts at 7:00.

The publisher tells me that "Somebody's Gotta Say It" was the number one seller for Barnes & Noble and Borders nationwide on Tuesday. For that, all I can offer is my heartfelt thanks. I'm also gratified at all of the emails I'm receiving telling me how much people are enjoying the book.

Back in Atlanta I have about 1000 little gold stickers that say "New York Times #! Bestseller". There is only one way I'll ever be able to use them. If I can't push the book up to No. 1 on its debut week, I'm just going to send that box of stickers (left over from The FairTax Book) to Obama with my best wishes.

Now .. here's that little box with the book signings this week and into next!

BOOK SIGNINGS!

Ok ... here's the schedule for the rest of the week and beginning of next week:

Thursday: Orlando. We start signing books at 7:00 at the Borders in Winter Park, 600 North Orlando Avenue.

Friday: Dayton, Ohio. Book signings in Dayton are awesome. You folks sure read a lot of books up there. We'll be at Books & Company at The Green, 4453 Walnut Street. Signing starts at 6:00 p.m. .... Looks like I'm going straight there from the airport!

Saturday, Houston, Texas. I'll be the keynote speaker for the annual state convention of the Young Conservatives of Texas.

Monday, Dallas, Texas. Come on down to the Barnes & Noble, 7700 W. Northwest in Dallas. I'll start signing at 7pm.

AND AM I LOVING THIS FIGHT?

When we were editing this book, and when I was recording the audio version, there was much discussion as to which portion of the book was going to cause the biggest puddin' storm with the bedwetters out there. Our first indication is that it will be the comments I made about teacher's unions.

Oh .. the humanity!

That footstool Olbermann has already made me the "worst" person in the world for my comments. I was hoping for "worsest." And you should see the emails, many of them from teachers. One government school teacher is going to spend his (her?) spare time at the local Barnes & Noble standing next to the display of my books and telling everybody that picks one up what an evil, disgusting, vile person I really am.

One email from a supporter told of his brother who has been a teacher for 25 years. He asked his brother who he was going to vote for in the 2004 presidential election. "Whoever the union tells me to vote for." Nice.

Another government school teacher wrote to say that he is SICK of teacher unions. He gets emails from his union saying that "we need to stop school choice because it kills children," and "firing teachers is against the Ten Commandments." Uh huh. This listener finished with "I'm a public school teacher and agree that the teacher unions have only taken educating our children BACKWARD.' So let them have it Neal. Somebody's Got to Say It. I'm buying your book, you better believe it, TODAY."

Then, of course, there are the emails that slam me for saying that teachers are terrorists. I've never said that. One emails said that I was a "conturd" and a "Republicscum" and that I needed to get used to a Democrat majority and a Democrat for president in 2008. Another emailer said that "It is your hatred and the way you speak about our country that is the biggest danger to our country. You will look at this email as another spike in your ratings, but your soul is being damaged daily."

Oh well .. you get the idea. But I'm not backing off. As I said in the book, the teacher's unions present a greater long-term threat to this country than do Islamic fascists. The fastest way to improve the sorry quality of government education in this country would be to immediately disband the National Education Association and the American Federation of Teachers. Any concerns they press about the children are just paying lip-service. They are there to protect the jobs of their government employee members -- and to pursue their liberal agenda in Washington. Nothing else. The madder I make them, the better I like it. The American people need to know how dangerous these unions are to their children and to the future of this country.

CHENEY AND PELOSI THROW DOWN

You gotta love Dick Cheney. He already knows the mainstream media and the Democrats hate him, so he just goes right out there and says exactly what he thinks...and often times, it's priceless. It all started recently in Japan, of all places. Cheney was giving an interview to ABC News about John Murtha and Nancy Pelosi's attempts to short-circuit the troop surge in Iraq. Here is exactly what he said:

"I think if we were to do what Speaker Pelosi and Congressman Murtha are suggesting, all we will do is validate the Al Qaeda strategy. The Al Qaeda strategy is to break the will of the American people, try to persuade us to throw in the towel and come home, and then they win because we quit."

And that's when it hit the fan. A furious Nancy Pelosi tried to reach President Bush to complain, but only got through to the Chief of Staff. Madame Speaker whined that Cheney's comments were "beneath the dignity of the debate we're engaged in and a disservice to our men and women in uniform, whom we all support." Uh-huh. Then Pelosi trotted out her well-worn straw man and accused the Bush Administration of questioning her patriotism, something he didn't do.

So what's the problem here? The truth hurts, doesn't it? Cheney just spoke his mind...and he's right. The Democratic strategy in Iraq is the Al-Qaeda strategy: surrender. It's too bad Nancy Pelosi can't accept that.

HILLARY VS. OBAMA: ROUND ONE

Hillary Clinton and Barack Hussein Obama are sparring over comments from a big Democratic donor in Hollywood. This exposes a weakness of The Hildabeast many aren't aware of ... and that would be an exceptionally thin skin.

This is great!

The campaign is just getting started! So what's all the hubbub about?

Well, the offending statements were made by David Geffen...one of the founders of the Dreamworks film studios and the namesake of Geffen Records. Despite supporting Bill Clinton in the past, he's supporting Barack Obama this time around, and isn't shy about saying why. He evidently has a problem with the Clintons' honesty...because here is what he said: "Everybody in politics lies, but they do it with such ease, it's troubling." Ouch.

He went on to say Hillary will be easy to defeat, that Republicans are digging up dirt on her as we speak and that she's overproduced and over scripted. He also complained that she is refusing to admit she made a mistake in authorizing the war in Iraq.

Oh man..this is just too good.

So what does Obama have to say about all this? He could have taken Hillary's suggestion and returned David Geffen's money and denounced his comments....but that would be too easy. Instead, he stood his ground...and opened up both barrels on The Hildabeast: "We aren't going to get in the middle of a disagreement between the Clintons and someone who was once one of their biggest supporters. It is ironic that the Clintons had no problem with David Geffen when he was raising them $18 million and sleeping at their invitation in the Lincoln bedroom." Outstanding!

If Obama and Hillary go at it like this for the next 20 months or so, we're in for a real treat. Does it get any better than watching Democrats eat each other alive?

READING ASSIGNMENTS

Did you know that thanks to a booming economy, tax revenues are pouring in and the deficit is shrinking? It's the best-kept secret by the mainstream media....who doesn't want you to know the economy is doing so well. After all, a Republican president might benefit...and we can't have that!

Al Gore is a hot ticket in Canada these days. Tickets for his recent speech on global warming, which had a face value of $20, were going for up to $500 on an Internet site. Perhaps he could run for president in Canada. He's all yours guys.

As predicted, even though the British have planned on leaving Iraq for months, the media is now wringing its hands over what the drawdown in troops by the UK means. They're calling it "awkward timing" for the U.S. But hey, Prince Harry is coming.

Dick Morris says there's a new mortal sin in American politics: criticizing Hillary Clinton. No one is allowed to do it, apparently. Just ask David Geffen. But Hillary is going to have to get over herself...either that, or it's going to be a long 2 years.

The Bush Administration is finding an unlikely ally in its agreement with North Korea. George F. Will says Democrats and Republicans that do nothing but sit around and criticize the president are going to start doing so at their peril.

Victor Davis Hanson gets into his time machine and takes us back to 2002, when the likes of Hillary Clinton and Chuck Schumer voted to authorize the war in Iraq. Was it really just about the weapons of mass destruction? Turns out there is more to the story.

There is more buzz in the media about Barack Obama than any presidential candidate in recent memory. So Thomas Sowell decides its time to take a look at some of Obama's ideas...particularly his economic policies. Turns out they don't exactly pass muster.

The University of Illinois is getting rid of their Native American mascot, caving into political correctness. Robert Novak, who went to college there, says it's a sad day...and accuses the Left of hypocrisy and bureaucratic tyranny.

It seems the big stories these days in the news are whatever Britney Spears is doing, the latest on Anna Nicole Smith and who can forget the diaper-wearing astronaut. Cal Thomas tries to sort out why TV has all of the sudden gone into the toilet.

Did you know the Democrats do in fact have a plan for victory in Iraq? As Larry Elder reports, their plan is to hold so many positions on the war that they confuse the enemy. Elder goes over the ever-changing Democratic line on Iraq over the last 5 years.
