MAYBE I AM AUSTIN'S FAVORITE AGGIE! Gotta tell you ... it sure felt good when I walked into
that Barnes & Noble Book Store at the Austin Arboretum last night to the sight
and sound of hundreds of cheering literary connoisseurs. The crowd
was fantastic and I met some really great people. Aggies just don't get
this type of reception in Austin every day. Thank you so much. I
loved it when that lady came up to the table and told me that she was a
professor at TU and just about as far left as you can get, but that she loved my
show nonetheless.
As soon as we finish our ham sandwich broadcast from
our fine Austin station, 590 KLBJ, we're
hitting Highway 79 for College Station and
News
Talk 1620 WTAW, the radio station where it all started. That's where I
started playing the country music hits in 1966 .. and where my show is carried
live today. WTAW, in case you don't know, was the first radio station to
do a live play-by-play broadcast of a college football game ... Texas A&M, of
course. We'll be signing copies of "Somebody's Gotta Say It" at
Hastings on Texas Avenue tonight at 7:00! Surely my Aggie friends can put
the turnout at Austin to shame ... though that's gonna be tough. MORE BOOK SIGNINGS! Ok ... here's the schedule for the rest of the week:
Wednesday 2/28, College Station, Texas. I love getting
back to College Station! Drop by and say Howdy! at Hastings in
College Station at 6pm. Thursday 3/1, Las Vegas, Nevada.
Tonight we'll be signing books at casino...the Sunset Station Hotel & Casino at
7pm. Remember, buy your book before you hit the tables, okay? Friday
3/2, Grand Junction, Colorado. Friday night you'll find me signing books at
the DoubleTree Hotel, 743 Horizon Dr. at 7pm.

FAIRTAX RALLIES!
More on this later, but I told you that
Americans for Fair
Taxation had reorganized and were going to really step up to the plate and get
the FairTax moving forward again. We now have to rallies scheduled that
can really have an impact.
The first rally will be at the Koger Center of the
University of South Carolina in Columbia on Tuesday, May 15th. There is a
presidential candidate debate on Fox News that evening ... and the rally will be
held before the debate to show support for the FairTax. I'll be there! The second rally will be in Ames, Iowa on Friday, August
10, the day before the Iowa Republican Party straw poll. Remember, if you
come to Iowa for the rally, you will be able to stay over on Saturday and vote
in the straw poll. The idea here is twofold ... to present the FairTax to
the media and the public with a huge rally drawing supporters from all over the
midwest --- and to hold the candidate's feet to the fire. My hope is
that the candidate who favors the FairTax will be the candidate who wins the
poll. It's time to apply some pressure! UH OH ... HERE COME THE HOMELESS AGAIN
We have a new "groundbreaking" study of homeless people
out there ... you know, the urban outdoorsmen. It seems that
about 700,000
people sought shelter nationwide during a three-month period. I guess
we'll hear a lot about this study for a few days. I just wanted to plug in
a thought. Not counting the children, of course; and not counting those
who have suffered a physical or mental disaster --- these people are right where
they are today because they put themselves there. Nobody did it to them.
Drugs, alcohol ... no education, no work skills, no work ethic. They have
themselves to blame. There's no problem in helping them so long as the
government doesn't use its police power to transfer income .... but the blame
lies with them. Deal with it.
THE STOCK MARKET!
Hey .. I know it is rough for some of you out there.
But (1) I'm a real estate investor, and (2) it will snap back. Some people
will weep and moan. Some will take advantage. Choose your side. AL
GORE'S WEAK RESPONSE
Well, now I've heard it
all. Al Gore, the Academy Award winner of the "Inconvenient Truth" documentary
about global warming, got caught with his hand in the cookie jar the other day.
Evidently his 20-room mansion with 8 bathrooms in Nashville uses 20 times the
electricity of the average American household. Same with natural gas. Who
cares, right? Well, not really. This is what you call hypocrisy...and of the
highest order.
Al Gore goes around
telling us all that we're environmental sinners because we're causing global
warming and dirtying the planet. And yet there's Gore...riding in his
gas-guzzling private jet and sitting in his 20-room mansion that almost takes an
entire power plant to run. The message is loud and clear: do as I say, but not
as I do. Typical politician. But the firestorm is growing, so Al Gore's office
had to craft a response to the deafening roar of criticism over his Tennessee
energy consumption.
According to a
spokesperson,
the Gores purchase offsets to reduce their overall carbon
footprint. Since they invest in wind power and the like, as well as drive
hybrid vehicles, this somehow balances out their gigantic power consumption at
their mansion. Oh..and they had solar power panels installed...and they pay
more for their power to support renewable energy. So we're supposed to believe
that the good outweighs the bad here. Let's not forget. He
probably plants trees also. They turn carbon dioxide to oxygen you know.
The bottom line here is
that this is all completely absurd. Man is not causing any significant
climate change. The carbon molecules are out there. Use them if you
got 'em.
Gore got busted for
not walking the talk .. and now he's trying to backpedal. Perhaps people will
see right through the environmental hypocrisy of the global warming movement for
once.
NANCY
PELOSI SAYS BUSH IS IMPAIRED
Nancy Pelosi says
George
W. Bush's thinking on Iraq is "impaired." It is? In that case, perhaps she and
her fellow Democrats would do something about that. They could impeach the
president or cut off appropriations for the war. Except they'll do
neither...because they don't have the you-know-whats...oh ... and they have no
plan for Iraq either.
Oh and here's a
question...was Hillary Clinton impaired when she voted to authorize the war in
Iraq in 2002? Was her husband impaired when, for 8 years, he called for the
removal of Saddam Hussein? Was John Kerry impaired when he voted to authorize
the war? John Edwards? The list of Democrats goes on and on.
Oh, and Speaker Nancy
still has her thong (ugh) in a knot over Dick Cheney's criticism that her plan
for Iraq would validate Al-Qaeda's strategy. She claims Cheney was questioning
her patriotism...which he never did. This is the Big Lie of the Left...when you
run out of ideas, when you have nothing else to say....accuse your opponent of
questioning your patriotism.
Sounds like somebody's
pantsuit might be a little too tight. If the American people have lost so much
confidence in Bush, why won't the Democrats do something about it? Why not take
action? Come on, we're waiting. Time's a wasting.
THE
COLLEGE REPUBLICAN'S NEW GAME
The College Republicans
are under fire for their
"Catch an illegal" game. The object of the game? No,
you don't catch an actual illegal alien...just somebody playing one. But you do
win a prize. Howard Dean and the DNC are calling on the RNC to stop it...but
they say they have no control over the College Republicans. So who's right..and
is it really racist?
First of all, everything
gets called racist...without anyone really knowing what the term means. Racism
is defined in the dictionary as the belief that one race is inherently superior
to another. The game is called "Catch An Illegal" not "Catch a Hispanic."
Now...a more accurate description might be that it's insensitive, but hardly
racist.
And the game would seem
to be quite popular. They played the game last year in several states and even
drew several students at NYU this year. I wonder what the prize is? Anyway,
the RNC condemned the game too...but says they can't make the College
Republicans stop. It would be something if the group told the DNC and the RNC
to stick it...and kept on playing their game.
All this publicity will
probably create even more interest in it. The rule of unintended
consequences...if Democrats had not complained, nobody would know about it.
YOU'VE GOT TO SAY IT...YOUR THOUGHTS ON THE BOOK Jim: GREAT !!!!
I am finally getting some sleep. Could not put the book down until I
read it - twice. Thank you.
My other two copies are on their way to liberal friends. jim knight, JD(Ret), CMEL, IFR, LREB, Etc, Etal Peter: We used to listen to you every day despite the fact that you
often made glaring misstatements, its called activating your mouth
without putting your brain in action.Well now we have started to
turn you off,the same as you have turned us off.We are sick and
tired of you going on about your book signing,we dont want to hear
your so called wonderfull days, your supposed to be a radio talk host
not a book seller, you are so full of self adoration its sickening to
hear you no wonder your away from home a lot your wife is probably
tired of hearing you go on about how fantastic you are,you and
hennity are so alike you must be brothers.Give it a rest get off the
book thing. Ed: I'm not sure I've ever read a book more aptly titled.
We have also read your Fair Tax book and would vote for that in a
heart beat.
You seem to be friends with Sean Hannity, but I'm less certain about
your relationship with Laura Ingram. Please try to get through to
them that if they, especially Laura, don't quit beating the drums
for a candidate that will FULLY satisfy the RELIGIOUS RIGHT, we're
gonna lose the next election to one of those *#@!!Socialist
Democrats...and we'll lose in a landslide....
Sincerely,
Ed Pat: I am looking forwrd to reading your book. I have it on order at
the library. I will be in hell before i will ever put a penny into
your pocket. |
REDNECK SCRAP BOOK
Proof that you don't need to go to some fancy piercing parlor in order to
wear an earring. Oh, and Ron
sent in a funny response to
our Redneck Butcher. More in the Redneck Scrap
Book. READING ASSIGNMENTS
Somebody described as "a senior U.S. military intelligence official"
says North Korea is capable of building a long-range missile that could hit the
United States. That's nice...but would The Gargoyle ever be dumb enough to
try it? Probably not.
The hate-filled, anti-war Left couldn't contain their happiness at the
assassination attempt on Dick Cheney in Afghanistan.
Believe it or not, there are some people actually upset that the suicide bomber
missed. This just proves the anti-war extremists' hatred for the Bush
Administration is completely unprecedented.
There is a college professor at Kent State University in Ohio who is writing
blog entries praising Osama Bin Laden and calling for jihad, among other
nonsense.
Professor Mike Adams is on the case, going so far as to call the guy at the
university...except he wasn't there. Your tax dollars at work.
It's been what...2 years and 3 months since John Kerry lost the presidential
election?
And he's still mad about it...and very bitter. It turns out a candidate for
the ambassadorship to Belgium contributed to the swift boat guys...and Kerry
erupted at his confirmation hearing.
James Carville, political strategist extraordinaire and big-time Clinton
supporter,
says Al Gore is going to run for president in 2008. That would throw a bit
of a monkey wrench in things, would it not? Carville also said running for
president was like having sex. Okay then.
Much is being made of yesterday's supposed stock market crash, but it's really
not anything approaching a crash. It is the biggest one-day loss since 2003,
but that's about it.
Either way, it's obviously George W. Bush's fault...who the media derides as
an idiot, but he somehow controls the stock market. And oil prices too.
John Stossel takes on the fear mongers in America over vaccinations. Do
vaccines cause autism? Are they poisoning people? Stossel says absolutely not,
but he says fear mongering has become an entire industry in this country. An
excellent column as always, one you won't want to miss.
The Hillary Clinton campaign's response to
David Geffen's comments only serve to prove them true, according to Rich Lowry.
Geffen really is right when he says the Clintons lie with such ease. But Lowry
points out that the Clintonistas did bait Obama into a fight.
Thomas Sowell has an excellent observation on Supreme Court justices. He
wonders why a whole string of Republican presidents have such a history of
nominating liberals to nation's highest court. He says their record is
miserable, for the most part.
Walter E. Williams has a column today that will make you think. What about
democracy is so great? Is majority rule really a good idea? Williams argues
that majority rule and liberty are two different things...which explains why the
Founding Fathers worried about democracy.
Tired of watching Leftist, anti-war protesters on TV?
Michelle Malkin says there is something you can do. At least if you're not
doing anything March 17th and will be in the Washington D.C. area. It's called
the "Gathering of Eagles." |
