The final editing is done, the cover is being developed, and "Somebody's Gotta Say It" will appear on your bookstore shelves on Tuesday, February 20, 2007. We're making plans to have thousands of books stacked in a dark room in Atlanta for me to sit down and sign ... not book plates, but my autograph on the title page of every one. These are for those of you who might not be able to get to one of my book signings following the release of the book. Just Click Here for your autographed first edition of Somebody's Gotta Say It! We'll ship it to you the week the book debuts.
It was interesting to watch the coverage of the new Congress yesterday by
a media that did everything in its power to throw out the Republicans. It
was like a gloat-fest...see what we did!
What a scene it was yesterday....there was Dennis Hastert, former Speaker of the House, sitting in the back row of the chamber as Nancy Pelosi was handed the gavel, just another member of Congress. This may turn out to be the best thing that ever happened to the GOP...if they play their cards right. The failed regime who guided the Republicans to defeat last fall is now out of power. Better yet, their biggest critics are now in charge. Which means they get to sit back and show us all how it's supposed to be done. No longer can the Democrats criticize the way Republicans do things. Now they get to be in charge. If the House was so unethical for the last 12 years, then let's see just how ethical it is for the next two. The GOP, if they play their cards right, can really hold the Democrats' feet to the fire here. Every single time one Democrat or another gets into ethical trouble (and it will happen,) Republicans get to rail against the "culture of corruption." Imagine the campaign ads! Sooner or later, William "Cold Cash" Jefferson will go to trial. Will the Democrats expel him from the House if he is indicted, or will they wait to see if he can escape a conviction? Imagine the possibilities. The Republican Party may have been defeated at the polls last November, but it just may turn out to be the best thing that ever happened to them. Officials at the Minneapolis-St Paul airport are having increasing problems with their cab drivers, most of who are Muslims. Many of the cab drivers are refusing to carry fares who have alcohol in their possession or who have dogs; even service dogs. Inch by inch these Muslims will try to enforce their backwater religious dogma on the rest of us. Hopefully the Minneapolis airport officials will tell them to either do their job or find another one. We're being told that an announcement will be made very soon about Barack Obama's presidential plans. Oh Goodie! Will he run? Will America be saved! Isn't it clear to all of us that this man is the one to lead us to the great new American era? Please Mr. Obama! Run! America needs you're unique blend of experience and vision! Golly! Just think of the neat private jet you'll be able to use! Princess Nancy is now the Speaker of the House. Well ... at least she's going to generate some interest. Can any of you out there name one time in the last few years when you said "Wow! That Speaker Hastert! Wow! What a speech! What a fantastic legislative agenda! He's my man!" There he was ... Dennis Hastert -- with that huge gut hanging over his belt at the back of the House chamber yesterday. If the Republicans had actually had a charismatic speaker for the past two years could it have made a difference? And aren't we all so relieved to learn that Princess Nancy is a huge fan of the Grateful Dead! I feel better already. I see that oil is now below $55 a barrel. It must be because the Democrats are in control of the congress. This sure is going to take a lot of money out of Bush's pockets, isn't it? In Danville, Pennsylvania a 12-year-old special education student was charged with a crime. Why? Because she wet her pants. School officials say she did it deliberately so they called the cops. She's been charged with disorderly conduct. Now the cops are telling the parents that their 12-year-old may avoid a fine is she agrees to some community service. If we could get people to do community service every time they wet themselves places like Asheville, North Carolina and San Francisco would have the cleanest roadsides in the world. But it looks like the charges were dropped so Danville will have to find a student with an aspirin to clean their roadsides instead. Police in Paris (that's France, not Texas) issued an order last week banning the distribution of any soup containing pork or fat to the homeless. Why? Well, you guessed it. Muslims. The police said that serving soup containing pork would be a racist offense because some of the people who might need that soup could just be Muslims. There is hope though. A Paris court came along and said serving soup with pork is not racist. The mayor of Paris, however, wants to appeal the court's ruling. The Paris police can't keep the peace when Muslim thugs conduct their periodic riots .. but they damn sure can keep the pork out of soup. How will Michigan's new Muslim congressman, Keith Ellison, vote on pork projects? Will he vote at all? Will he try to bring some pork back to his district? Answers! We want answers! Speaking of Keith Ellison. They made a big deal out of his ceremonial swearing in yesterday. He used a Quran that was once owned by Thomas Jefferson. What the media didn't tell you yesterday was that Jefferson considered Islam to be quite far down the food chain insofar as religions are concerned. Smart man, that Jefferson. Chevy is going to come out with a new Camaro convertible. A soft-top. It looks like I'll have to amend one of my Boortzisms. "There is no happier person in the world than a North Georgia high school dropout with a beat up Camaro, a can of Bondo and a sewing kit." Album sales have dropped for the seventh straight year. Down 5% in 2006. Good. Considering the crap they're recording and presenting as music these days .. purchasing a CD ought to be considered as prima facie evidence of dementia. Does anyone want to have a serious conversation about the effect of a record number of women serving in the congress? You can scream "sexist" all you want, but there are differences. Anthropologically, women are wired for security. Sometimes security and freedom don't get along all that well.

REDNECK SCRAP BOOK Keith points us to this outstanding method of redneck bee control posted on the Something Awful forums. It's an oldie, but a goodie. Warning: language. It really completely encompasses the spirit of redneckedness. More in the Redneck Scrap Book. READING ASSIGNMENTS Merry Christmas Marines update! See a photo gallery of the Marines receiving their stockings and a thank you letter to all of you who donated. Democrat Keith Ellison of Minnesota was "sworn in" using a Koran yesterday
(really just a photo op with Nancy Pelosi.) And in the end, no one cared.
Ellison did seek out the congressman who said he was opposed to the usage of
said Koran. | ||
