If you listen to the Democrats you it will be clear that they have already admitted defeat in Iraq. There is no will to succeed in the Democrat Party. There is no will to retain any degree of respect for America among those who are relying on us to see this through. Over one-half of Europeans recently said that they would like to see a weaker America. Apparently the Democrats agree. Who is going to listen --- who is going to trust us --- the next time we threaten the use of force to turn back some element of the Islamic jihad? We're showing weakness. Islamic fascists couldn't be happier.
You heard, I'm sure, that last week the Democrats in the House passed a tremendous, super, wonderful ethics bill. Among other provisions, neither members of congress nor their staffers will be allowed to accept any gifts from lobbyists .. and that includes meals or drinks. Sounds good, doesn't it? After all, we don't really have the opportunity to go to Washington and take our congressman out to dinner while we talk about legislation, do we? Well .. all apparently is not as it seems. I'm told that there is a little exclusion in the bill .. a little loophole that we didn't hear about last week. It would seem that the ethics legislation doesn't apply to lobbyists working for colleges and universities. From what I've heard, the politicians and their staffers will be perfectly free to chow down on meals and drinks provided by these lobbyists. Is this exemption a big deal? You do wonder why they didn't tell us about it up front. You also wonder how many more exemptions there are in the bill. But you should know that colleges and universities receive hundreds of millions of dollars in pork spending from congress every year. OH .. and do you remember when House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer said that the house would be working five-weeks? He said that the first votes would be on Monday evenings, and the last votes Friday afternoons. Well, just so you know .. the House hasn't met on a Monday yet. We wonder when the actual five-day work week takes effect!
You really do need to read this ridiculous legislation. It actually says that having an abortion will cause a women to to become a heavy smoker and develop breast cancer. This is going absolutely nowhere, of course. Some legislator(s) will introduce this for no other reason than to claim credit for having fulfilled a campaign pledge to some voters. Hopefully it will be so ignored that it won't cost the Georgia taxpayers much money to dispose of.
This time in Tennessee. On Saturday night a Tennessee State Trooper was shot and killed by 17-year-old Alejandro Guana and 19-year-old Orlando Garcia. It would seem that the two Hispanics were transporting drugs. The next question is were these two Hispanic thugs in this country legally? Were they illegal aliens? Last week a 14-year veteran law enforcement officer was killed in a head-on accident as he was driving to work. You guessed it .. an illegal alien caused the accident. Twenty-five Americans a day. That's the estimate of the death toll from the Mexican invasion. About one-half of that number from murders, the other half from traffic accidents. Still ... our government does NOTHING! That's going to change soon, though. The Democrats will soon be introducing their amnesty bill .. and George Bush will be all-to-eager to sign it. OK. So Oprah has opened a school for girls in South Africa. That's nice. No .... seriously. It really is. You might want to argue that there are plenty of young girls in this country who need to be rescued from our hideous government schools .. but it's her money, and she gets to use it where she wishes. Why, though, is CNN treating this as if Oprah has found a cure for cancer? Enough, already! There are many people in this country who have done this much, and more for our own children! It seems that for about a week now CNN has become the Oprah Network!
We have two snowboarder stories for you today. As you know, I have no use for snowboarders. It's not the snowboard that bugs me, it's the people who ride them. They have a culture of rudeness and complete disregard for the safety or the rights of anyone else on the slope. The more you ignore the rules, the more you intimidate skiers, the more you frighten others on the slopes, and the grungier you look the higher you rank in the snowboarding culture. These are the same people who take great pleasure in destroying public and private property with their skateboards when there isn't enough snow on the slopes. Two stories for you. One .. Greg Doda of Crownesville, Maryland spent Christmas in jail. He is now 18. He was 16 when he took a straight line down a slope at Jackson Hole, Wyoming. He was going nearly 50 miles per hour when he skied right into Heather Donahue. She was standing in the middle of the slope waiting for her husband. He knocked her out of gloves, skiis, hat, goggles and neck warmer. She died on the scene. The judge gave Doda a one-year sentence for killing Heather Donahue, and then stayed six months of it while suspending the other six months. He only required Doda to spend Christmas and New Years in jail. That for intentionally reckless conduct that killed a 29-year-old woman. Two ... Last Friday a skier on Mt. Hood in Oregon was killed by a snowboarder. This time it was hit and run. They're still trying to find the snowboarding thug. The victim was 45-year-old Geoffry Scott Bradeen of Portland. The snowboarder hit him in the head as he was getting up after a fall. After killing Bradeen the snowboarder said that he was going to go for help, then left. He hasn't been seen since. REDNECK SCRAP BOOK Would you buy this at a yard sale? Hey, it's only been lightly used! Besides, the next person to use it won't have any idea that it's not brand new. More in the Redneck Scrap Book. READING ASSIGNMENTS President Bush's new plan for Iraq is being leaked...and it's not going to
be pretty once the anti-war Left gets a hold of it. Evidently it's a series of
benchmarks the Iraqis have to meet...and it is expected to take two or three
years. Will people wait that long? Probably not. Al Gore is leaving the door open to running for president in 2008. He'll
probably never do it. Why? Because it's better to be known in history as the
guy that was ripped off than one who ran and lost...again. Besides, he's too
busy saving the world from global warming by flying around in a private jet. Michael Barone says don't be fooled by the handing over of the gavel last
week in the House with all of the warm and fuzzy good feelings. He says we're
about to have a bitter clash over Iraq...and you can expect things to get ugly.
