CUTTING OFF THE TROOPS IN IRAQ

We've heard for a long time from Democrats that despite their opposition to the war, they would never dream of cutting off funding for the troops in Iraq. An example of this would be Robert Byrd...the Grand Wizard himself would rail against the war for hours on the Senate floor, then vote for whatever appropriation the Pentagon asked for. The theory is simple: the troops should have everything they need to complete the job.

But once the Democrats took over, you knew things were going to change. The difference now is the Democrats are in control...of both Houses of Congress. They have the checkbook. President Bush can send more troops to Iraq if he wants...the so-called surge that's being reported...but it won't matter. How can he do this without the money to support the extra troops? And if the Democrats deny him that money, can it truly be said that they support the troops?

Nancy Pelosi is reminding everyone of this. In an interview that ran yesterday, here's what Madame Speaker had to say: "The burden is on the president to justify any additional resources for a mission. Congress is ready to use its constitutional authority of oversight to question what is the justification for this spending, what are the results we are receiving. There's not a carte blanche, a blank check for him to do whatever he wishes there."

If you listen to the Democrats you it will be clear that they have already admitted defeat in Iraq. There is no will to succeed in the Democrat Party. There is no will to retain any degree of respect for America among those who are relying on us to see this through. Over one-half of Europeans recently said that they would like to see a weaker America. Apparently the Democrats agree.

Who is going to listen --- who is going to trust us --- the next time we threaten the use of force to turn back some element of the Islamic jihad?

We're showing weakness. Islamic fascists couldn't be happier.

"I'm calling BS on you and your entire story.

I think you let Mary Jo Kopechne suffocate in your car in four feet of water off the Chappaquiddick Bridge while you were wandering up and down that dirt road worrying about salvaging your political career.

I think that if you had been half the man either one of your brothers were, Mary Jo Kopechne would have lived to marry and raise some children of her own.

I think there's much to that story that's never been told."

BRUSH UP ON YOUR SPANISH

House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer was on TV yesterday saying the president told him he would have an easier time dealing with them on immigration policy than with the Republicans. In other words, get our your Pesos...the Mexican invasion will continue. Let's look at the numbers, shall we?

Right now, there are some 12 million illegal aliens in this country from Mexico, give or take a few hundred thousand. Some estimates go as high as 20 million. That's the number we're at with illegal immigration still being....well, illegal. What is going to happen once you adopt the president's amnesty plan and throw open the doors to anyone who wants to come here for a guest worker card? Another 10 or 15 million? Can your local Home Depot parking lot handle the surge?

El Presidente also knows that the Democratic Congress, eager to pander for the Hispanic vote, will bury this idea of building a border fence. After all, it was only for 700 miles anyway....and besides, they could spend the money elsewhere. You think our laws against illegal immigration are a joke now...it's only going to get worse.

This is the first time in American history that we have been invaded...and the president of the United States doesn't care. Somebody's gotta pick the strawberries, you know.

TYPICAL POLITICAL GAMES

You heard, I'm sure, that last week the Democrats in the House passed a tremendous, super, wonderful ethics bill. Among other provisions, neither members of congress nor their staffers will be allowed to accept any gifts from lobbyists .. and that includes meals or drinks. Sounds good, doesn't it? After all, we don't really have the opportunity to go to Washington and take our congressman out to dinner while we talk about legislation, do we?

Well .. all apparently is not as it seems. I'm told that there is a little exclusion in the bill .. a little loophole that we didn't hear about last week. It would seem that the ethics legislation doesn't apply to lobbyists working for colleges and universities. From what I've heard, the politicians and their staffers will be perfectly free to chow down on meals and drinks provided by these lobbyists.

Is this exemption a big deal? You do wonder why they didn't tell us about it up front. You also wonder how many more exemptions there are in the bill. But you should know that colleges and universities receive hundreds of millions of dollars in pork spending from congress every year.

OH .. and do you remember when House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer said that the house would be working five-weeks? He said that the first votes would be on Monday evenings, and the last votes Friday afternoons. Well, just so you know .. the House hasn't met on a Monday yet. We wonder when the actual five-day work week takes effect!

GOING NOWHERE

Ladies, I want you to have your rapist's baby or go to prison.

The fundies in the Georgia General Assembly played their cards a bit early this year -- on the first day. Click here to read a bill that will be introduced into the general assembly outlawing abortion. The bill makes abortion a felony and does not even allow an abortion in order to save the life of the mother.

You really do need to read this ridiculous legislation. It actually says that having an abortion will cause a women to to become a heavy smoker and develop breast cancer.

This is going absolutely nowhere, of course. Some legislator(s) will introduce this for no other reason than to claim credit for having fulfilled a campaign pledge to some voters. Hopefully it will be so ignored that it won't cost the Georgia taxpayers much money to dispose of.

No .. I don't know the name of the legislator(s) who will introduce and sponsor this bill. When I find out I will surely let you know who they are. You need to know the names and see the faces of these idiots who would use the police power of the state to prevent you from arranging for an abortion to save the life of your wife. Putting it bluntly .. these men (and they most assuredly will be men) are evil. Looks like Bobby Franklin of the 43rd district is responsible for this one. Yep, a man as far as we can tell.

ANOTHER DEAD LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER --- KILLED BY HISPANICS

This time in Tennessee. On Saturday night a Tennessee State Trooper was shot and killed by 17-year-old Alejandro Guana and 19-year-old Orlando Garcia. It would seem that the two Hispanics were transporting drugs.

The next question is were these two Hispanic thugs in this country legally? Were they illegal aliens? Last week a 14-year veteran law enforcement officer was killed in a head-on accident as he was driving to work. You guessed it .. an illegal alien caused the accident.

Twenty-five Americans a day. That's the estimate of the death toll from the Mexican invasion. About one-half of that number from murders, the other half from traffic accidents.

Still ... our government does NOTHING!

That's going to change soon, though. The Democrats will soon be introducing their amnesty bill .. and George Bush will be all-to-eager to sign it.

OPRAH'S SCHOOL

OK. So Oprah has opened a school for girls in South Africa. That's nice. No .... seriously. It really is. You might want to argue that there are plenty of young girls in this country who need to be rescued from our hideous government schools .. but it's her money, and she gets to use it where she wishes. Why, though, is CNN treating this as if Oprah has found a cure for cancer? Enough, already! There are many people in this country who have done this much, and more for our own children! It seems that for about a week now CNN has become the Oprah Network!

SNOWBOARDERS ... THE RAP GANGSTERS OF THE SLOPES

We have two snowboarder stories for you today.

As you know, I have no use for snowboarders. It's not the snowboard that bugs me, it's the people who ride them. They have a culture of rudeness and complete disregard for the safety or the rights of anyone else on the slope. The more you ignore the rules, the more you intimidate skiers, the more you frighten others on the slopes, and the grungier you look the higher you rank in the snowboarding culture. These are the same people who take great pleasure in destroying public and private property with their skateboards when there isn't enough snow on the slopes.

Two stories for you.

One .. Greg Doda of Crownesville, Maryland spent Christmas in jail. He is now 18. He was 16 when he took a straight line down a slope at Jackson Hole, Wyoming. He was going nearly 50 miles per hour when he skied right into Heather Donahue. She was standing in the middle of the slope waiting for her husband. He knocked her out of gloves, skiis, hat, goggles and neck warmer. She died on the scene. The judge gave Doda a one-year sentence for killing Heather Donahue, and then stayed six months of it while suspending the other six months. He only required Doda to spend Christmas and New Years in jail. That for intentionally reckless conduct that killed a 29-year-old woman.

Two ... Last Friday a skier on Mt. Hood in Oregon was killed by a snowboarder. This time it was hit and run. They're still trying to find the snowboarding thug. The victim was 45-year-old Geoffry Scott Bradeen of Portland. The snowboarder hit him in the head as he was getting up after a fall. After killing Bradeen the snowboarder said that he was going to go for help, then left. He hasn't been seen since.

REDNECK SCRAP BOOK

Would you buy this at a yard sale? Hey, it's only been lightly used! Besides, the next person to use it won't have any idea that it's not brand new. More in the Redneck Scrap Book.

READING ASSIGNMENTS

A Texas-based pizza chain is going to start accepting Pesos,
in addition to dollars. The restaurant company says it wants to be a convenient place for its customers to spend their remaining Mexican money when they get to the states. So now you can "make a run for the border" and have pizza instead.

President Bush's new plan for Iraq is being leaked...and it's not going to be pretty once the anti-war Left gets a hold of it. Evidently it's a series of benchmarks the Iraqis have to meet...and it is expected to take two or three years. Will people wait that long? Probably not.

Al Gore is leaving the door open to running for president in 2008. He'll probably never do it. Why? Because it's better to be known in history as the guy that was ripped off than one who ran and lost...again. Besides, he's too busy saving the world from global warming by flying around in a private jet.

Now that American casualties in Iraq have slowed down, the media has stepped up their reporting of Iraqi casualties. They say some 22,950 died in 2006. And just whose fault is that? Oops...22,951..don't forget Saddam.

Republicans in Congress are becoming nervous that President Bush is going to do the same thing his father did: agree to a tax increase from the Democrats. Robert Novak reports on just a plan that may be in the works. He notes that Tony Snow dances around the question on taxes in briefings.

Michael Barone says don't be fooled by the handing over of the gavel last week in the House with all of the warm and fuzzy good feelings. He says we're about to have a bitter clash over Iraq...and you can expect things to get ugly.

So what does George Will think of the idea of a surge in troops in Iraq? Not much. The conservative columnist, who hasn't supported the war from day one, breaks out the comparisons to Vietnam. Turns out there are some. World War II. Interesting reading.

Today Professor Mike Adams addresses his incoming students at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington with a simple assignment. They need to head down to the courthouse and try and figure out whether or not the criminal justice system is broken. Always entertaining.

Recently Oprah Winfrey opened a privately-funded school for girls in South Africa. The school is being attacked, but Star Parker is defending Oprah. Beginning with a simple statement: it's her money. She can do with it as she pleases. It is a free country...at least for now.

With a Republican Congress thrown out for being too much like Democrats, Suzanne Fields asks the question of whether or not conservatism is dead. It sure would seem so...just look at President Bush's latest budget. Ronald Reagan is spinning in his grave.
