BUSH SPEECH TONIGHT

George Bush will be talking to the American people tonight about his plans for the Iraq front in the War on Islamic Fascism.  This is not just another speech.  There is one difference between George Bush and, I believe, the majority of Americans.  President Bush  still recognizes the threat to this country and to Western culture that is presented by the relentless Islamic Fascists.  He understands that their goal is a world dominated by Islam, and that they are very patient and determined.  Bush also believes that America can turn the tide.  If not America, who?  If we don't stand up to militant Islam, who will?  Europe?  Bwahahahahaha .... are you freaking kidding me?

Do you think you can put aside your entertainment programming long enough this evening to watch what is sure to be a very important speech?  Perhaps the most important of his presidency.

DOES KENNEDY WANT US TO LOSE IN IRAQ?

The anti-war, peace-at-any-price, submissive Left, which took over the Democratic party in the last election, is rearing its ugly head once again.  On one side, you have those opposed to war and willing to deny funds to the troops there, on the other side, you have nervous Democrats who know better.  What fun!  And all of this is playing out before our eyes.

The Nation's Disgrace, Massachusetts Senator Ted Kennedy, decided to preempt President Bush yesterday with a little speech of his own.  We already know that Kennedy is a coward.  I know you're tired of hearing this, but you have to understand the quality of the man speaking these words.  This is a man who let a woman (his date for the night?) suffocate in the back seat of his car while it sat in four feet of water as he paced up and down a nearby road trying to figure out how to salvage his political career.

Anyway .. Kennedy has made it clear.  No more money for any more troops in Iraq.  Winning is no longer an option to Kennedy.  Never was.  Kennedy would be perfectly pleased to have Saddam Hussein in power still.  You get the distinct impression that the worst thing Kennedy can imagine would be an actual American (that would mean a Bush) success in Iraq.

The Democrats are walking a tightrope here.  They are opposed to any escalation in the war in Iraq...and are going to fight the sending of the 20,000 additional troops.  But what can they do?  George W. Bush is the rightly elected Commander-In-Chief.  He can send the troops wherever he wants.  The only way Congress can control it is to cut off the funds.  Come on, folks.  You just know they aren't going to do that.

Why?  Because as much as Americans are opposed to the war, they are even more opposed to doing anything that would deny troops needed money or supplies.  The idea that a soldier in Iraq might do without something he needs is not acceptable to the average citizen of the United States.  So the Democrats are stuck.  They can oppose the troop surge all they want, but when the vote is taken on funding it, you can bet the majority of them will vote for it.

And which way will The Hildabeast vote?  She has to answer to the entire country in the next election.  Gotta support the troops.

RAISING THE MINIMUM WAGE

Now starts the minimum wage debate.  As part of their first hundred hours nonsense, the Democrats plan to bring up the minimum wage bill.  The media is already throwing the pity party....life sure is hard at $5.15 an hour to raise a family. Here's a newsflash:  very few people are raising a family on the minimum wage.  And if you're trying, you're a colossal screw-up.  Yet spineless Republicans will once again go along with it.  President Bush has even said he'll sign a minimum wage bill, as long as the Democrats throw in some tax cuts for business.

We are about to reinforce the idea that in a free market economy it is the role of the government to set wages, and that politicians can, if they choose, use the police power of government to force an employer to pay an employee more than that employee is worth.  Tell me, how would you like it if the government made you pay more for a product or service you need than that product or service is worth?  You might think that just wouldn't be right.  Well ... that's exactly what the government is doing to some employers.

But here's what I don't understand.  How's come whenever Democrats talk about raising the minimum wage, it's only a dollar or two?  They want to raise it to $7.25 or whatever....talk about being cheap!  If you can't raise a family on $5.15 an hour, then how are you going to do it on $7.25 an hour?  Why not raise the minimum wage to something livable...like say, $25 an hour.  Obviously the single mom running the drive-thru at the local taco stand deserves that.

Oh...we can't raise it that much?  Because it would kill jobs?  Then if that is the case, liberals themselves are proving the point of their opponents.  And by the way, this idea that somebody is supposed to raise a family on the minimum wage is nonsense.  The minimum wage is for high school kids...people just entering the workforce.  If that's the best you can do after working several years, then there is only one way to describe a person in that situation: a loser.

Oh my...isn't that just a bit insensitive?  Too bad.

MORE GLOBAL WARMING DRAMA

All rise....the church of Global Warming is back in session.  In today's sermon, we learn that 2006 was supposedly the warmest year out of the past 112. What about before 112 years ago?  Why such an odd number?  And if global warming is so bad, are liberals willing to park their cars and do their part?  We're waiting.  Here are some basic questions the global warming crowd can never answer:

  • How do they reconcile the fact that temperature records only go back so far?  Surely there were warmer winters 300 years ago.  Why only measure the temperature in the last 112 years?  The answer  is because it fits their anti-capitalist agenda.

  • Why do they hijack normally occurring events and make them into arguments for global warming?  We've always had occasional warm winters, hurricanes and the like.  It's not global warming...it's nature.

  • Will they admit signing the Kyoto agreement will do nothing to clean the air?  Even countries that have signed it can't adhere to it.  Why should we?

  • And one last one...if global warming is caused by greenhouse gases, then will they please stop using electricity (generated in many cases by burning coal,) stop driving their cars and park their private jets?  Oh...we can't expect them to practice what they preach, can we?

The entire global warming movement is a scientific fraud...and yet there is the mainstream media...letting them slide.  Figures.

WOW!  YOU PEOPLE REALLY JERKED SOME LIBERAL CHAINS YESTERDAY

Yesterday I went on quite a rant about some leftwing moonbat named Melanie who took great exception to something I said on Your World with Neil Cavuto this past Monday on the Fox News Channel.  Melanie got very upset when I referred to high income earners as "high achievers."  There is something about individuals actually achieving that really upsets the left.  Perhaps it's because they know that when one person achieves it only highlights the failings of the next person who chooses to rely on government.

Here again is the Link to Melanie's posting on News Hounds.  When I first posted this yesterday there were about 60 comments posted.  This morning there were 850.  Right behind Melanie's hysterical posting you'll see a link to read the comments.  Grab a cup of coffee, sit down, click and enjoy.

GEORGIA GOVERNOR TAKING THE EASY WAY OUT

Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue is going to order the State Patrol go be more aggressive in going after speeders on Georgia highways, and is going to ask for stiffer penalties for repeat offenders.

This is taking the easy way out.

We've gone over this before, but both common sense and studies show that the true problem on the highways out there are people who drive two slow, tailgaters and lane-changers.

The next time you're driving on an expressway keep tract of the number of times you have to change what you're doing on the road because of a fast driver.  How many times do you have to change your speed or your lane because someone is driving faster than you are?  Now remember ... we're talking just speed.  You may have to slow down because someone swerves into your lane .. but how many times do you have to change your speed or anything else about your driving technique simply because someone goes by driving ten or twenty miles per hour faster than you are.

Ahhh .. but how many times do you have to change what you're doing because of a slower driver?  You're doing the speed limit in one of the left lanes, and suddenly you're behind a minivan going 10mph slower than you are.  You have to (1) slow down, and (2) change lanes.  Then you (3) speed up and then (4) change back into your travel lane after you've gone around the bluehair.  The slowing down and lane often creates a ripple effect though the other drivers on the road.  One of them may be caught off guard .. and a crash ensues.

Politicians love speeding enforcement because it creates revenue.  It's just so easy.  Determine someone's speed, and write a ticket.  It's far more difficult to make a case in traffic court for dangerous lane-changing or for driving two slowly.

Perdue is taking the easy way out here.  Go after the people who are really causing the problems and maybe some lives will be saved.

I WANT TO WORK AT THAT PLACE IN THE KYOCERA COMMERCIAL

OK ... nothing earthshaking here.  I just saw that Kyocera copier commercial again on the tube.  You know, the one where the chorus is singing "When You're Smiling!"  The commercial shows several different people in the office making use of Kyocera technology.  I want to know where this office is.  Wow!  What a place!  Every single person who works in that case is a drop-dead knockout.  There's not one fat person working in that office.  Perfect bodies .. perfect faces ... every one.  Don't you just love it when commercials reflect real life like this one?

REDNECK SCRAP BOOK

I bet lots of redneck kids found this under the Christmas tree this year. More in the Redneck Scrap Book.

READING ASSIGNMENTS

The headline of this column pretty much says it all. "Bush wimps out as gangs cross our border." What in the hell is going on here?  Why won't we even respond when armed gangs attack our own troops along the Mexican-American border?  Did George Bush take an oath of office to defend this country or not?

Barack Obamamania has now officially reached idiotic proportions.  One Chicago Sun-Times columnist ran a picture of the Chosen One himself at the beach.  The media fawning never ends.

The government report on Sandy "Pants" Berger's theft of classified documents from the National Archives has been released...but don't expect the media to report it.  Can you imagine if it was a Republican who stole those papers?  It would still be the top story.

So much for New York...the New York Times is reporting that The Hildabeast plans to base her 2008 presidential campaign out of Washington D.C., not the Empire State.  Why should she?  She got what she needed out of the state...now they're old news.

John Stossel asks the best question that the minimum wage advocates can never answer:  if you're going to raise the minimum wage, then why be so stingy about it?  How about $20 an hour?  Why not $50?  Certainly the poor among us deserve to make more money.

Christopher Hitchens has an interesting look at the whole dust-up over Congressman Keith Ellison's use of a Koran at his swearing in.  Oh and since he used Thomas Jefferson's Koran, it's also interesting to find out what the Founding Father thought of Islam.

Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats have pledged to run an open and honest Congress.  So Tony Blankley wants to hold her too it, and see if the Democrats are going to be honest about their plans for Iraq.  Will they come right out and oppose the war?  Probably not.

Dr. Walter E. Williams weighs in on the trans-fat ban in New York City, and says the demand of tyrants always start out small.  He says the food police are just getting started...pretty soon everything them deem unhealthy will be banned forever.

With foreign competition on the rise, times are tough at the UAW.  The automakers can no longer afford the benefits and salaries they negotiated in the past.  George Will takes a look at the plight of the leader of the UAW.

Finding himself stuck in the hospital, William F. Buckley has started reading.  And in today's column, he has a review of one very popular book...which he calls extremely boring.  Read on to find out why.

Debra Saunders has a question for California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.  If it's wrong for illegal aliens to have driver's licenses.....which Schwarzenegger opposed....then what is the Governator doing pitching the idea of free health care for illegal immigrants? WSB's Prostate Proactivity Campaign...get all the information you need about prostate cancer here.

Merry Christmas Marines update! See a photo gallery of the Marines receiving their stockings and a thank you letter to all of you who donated.

And once again for those who couldn't find it on yesterday's Nuze, an extremely rare photograph of Saddam Hussein's cat. I'm not much for cats, but this one seems all right.
