You know what? They may well be right. You would hope that the American people would instinctively know that the proper way to solve the problem of illegal immigration is to first close the border. After sealing the border with Mexico we can take time for due deliberation as to what to do with the illegal aliens we already have in our country. You would hope that Americans would realize that what is being called "comprehensive" immigration reform is a political solution, one designed to satisfy political objectives, rather than a solution designed to solve the actual problem at hand. You might hope that the American people would understand these things, but you have to remember that we're talking about a government "educated" citizenry that is far more interested in the latest celebrity and sports news than they are in what the political class is doing with their money and to their freedoms. It's all very simple, really. Close the border. Stop the invasion. Turn off the faucets. Then we'll have time aplenty to sit back and figure out what to do with those illegals who are already here. Americans are not cold blooded monsters who want to uproot established Hispanic families and dump them across the border. You present the average American with the story of a Hispanic high school graduate trying to get into college, a young adult who was brought to this country by their parents at the age of three, and you aren't going to find many who would insist that this person, who has known nothing but life in America, be sent back to a country they don't know. Why is nobody talking about the cost to the taxpayers here? Since 1990 Hispanics have accounted for 92% of the increase in poor people in this country. Only about 53% of the Hispanic adult population in the U.S. even have a high school education. This means we are legitimizing a huge number of people who will eventually end up on the receiving end of our hundreds of local and federal welfare programs. Robert Rector of the Heritage Foundation has compiled some of the costs. He says that government tax payments ... entitlements and means-tested benefits ... would increase by about $8000 per American household. We're looking at about 20 billion a year .. and that's just starters. Again .. it's very simple. When the government becomes selective in enforcing our laws, it's only natural that the people would become selective in obeying them. Before we move on .... repeating a thought from last week. (Yes, we did actually have a thought last week). When a drug dealer earns money illegally that money is seized. Why not the same for someone who works illegally in this country? Money earned in the commission of a crime is subject to seizure. Working in this country on a forged Social Security number is a crime, as is crossing the border illegally. The money these Mexicans are sending back home is money earned in the commission of a crime. Connect the dots. If that money is seized -- if the proceeds of these illegal activities are seized -- how long before the invasion dries up? When you take the money away from a criminal enterprise, the criminal enterprise dies. Whatever ... it's all rhetoric at this point. The American people continue to focus on sports and entertainment news ... and this amnesty bill will soon become law. I'm still waiting for the day when the word "loophole" only applies to the laces on our shoes. In the meantime, it is still a "dirty" word used to describe the crafty ways we try to get out of paying more taxes to the government. It's my money. I earned it. I want to keep it. The newest change to our wildly complicated tax system applies to the "Kiddie Tax." The tax currently applies to any unearned income, such as dividends, interest and capital gains, of children under 18, which is taxed at the parents' marginal rate. Well as of 2008, the "Kiddie Tax" will apply to children under 19 or full-time students under age 24. Sure does seem to extend the idea of being a "kid." Apparently you can still be a "kid" who has voted in 2 presidential elections, served in combat, and drank alcohol for three years...according to our government. And why? All for the sake of taxes. Just so the government can weasel more earned money out of wealthy parents who can afford to provide college education funds or stocks to their children. At this rate, maybe the government will label me as a "kiddie" again!
Democrats proclaimed their staunch support of clearly identifying pork-which you can call "earmarks," if you want to be politically correct. Ok, who am I kidding! But the chairman of the House Appropriations Committee, David Obey (a Democrat from Wisconsin), has come up with a brilliant plan. Rather than actually cutting spending, simply submit your earmarks at the last minute...this way, it will be too late for anyone to actually challenge it! Sounds like a plan. Except for the fact that it is still wasting billions of dollars in taxpayer money. Nice try Democrats. We're onto your little scheme.
How long was it going to take before a Defeatocrat came up with this one? John Murtha-our favorite moonbat from Pennsylvania-says that the terrorists arrested in the JFK plot were a product of the war in Iraq. Basically, if we had not gone into Iraq, this terrorist plot would never have come about. He is the boat with 9/11 conspiracy theorists and all those who sympathize with "freedom fighters" and the "peaceful" religion of Islam. What has this man been smoking? If this was the excuse for the JFK plot, than who does he blame the 9/11 attacks on? He does not understand that the fundamental hatred of terrorists is not based on our presence in Iraq. Rather, this hatred is based on a general hatred for our culture. It almost seems as if moonbats like Murtha want nothing more than to see America defeated by Islam. Why? It can't be that they don't recognize the threat! Is there anger over losing power in Washington in 1994, and the election to Bush in 2000 so intense that they would actually endanger their country to exact revenge? The intelligence gathering of this plot should be commended, as our understanding of what it takes to fight radical jihadists grows under this administration. Rather than bow to the wishes of such extremism, we will face it. Yes, mistakes were made it Iraq but that has nothing to do with the long-standing hatred of radicals, like the terrorists arrested in the JFK plot. John Murtha is full of horse-squeeze. It is comments like this that make me wonder about the people that continue to elect this man into office.
"I'm simply suggesting we need to have some very bold proposals for fundamental change, and so far I don't see much of that." "I see some encouraging signs, but I think the key question is, is somebody prepared to stand up and say that the American people deserve fundamental change in Washington, and to outline a set of those fundamental changes that are big enough that people look up and say, "That's what I want."" This week the Senate will debate the amendment to the immigration bill. I have an idea: seal the borders! Illegal aliens have dumped nearly 25 million pounds of trash at the Mexican-Arizona border. After 3 years, only 1 percent of the trash has been removed by the federal government. This is the same government that is so concerned about granting them amnesty. At what age should children enter public schools? (The answer it never!) But the government wants to shield your child from social and emotional hurt by raising the entry age for kindergarteners. Isn't that just special? A man in Poland woke up from a coma after 19 years. I think a thing or two has changed since then...how about the lack of Communism, for example. A convicted drug dealer served as an informant to federal investigators, which led to the arrest of the men plotting to blow up the jet fuel lines to JFK. Now is not a time for Defeatocrats to be waning on the threat of terrorism. Fidel Castro makes his first public appearance since last July. Who does he visit with but a fellow comrade, the Vietnamese Communist Party chief. Glad to see he didn't waste any time. The grand expectations for immigration reform are absurd and go against everything that conservatives believe to be trueYou gotta see this. Atlanta Braves minor league manager Phillip Wellman completely loses it. I mean completely! What a show! I can just see ticket sales going up after this one. | ||
