There was a time when you didn't have to engage in a mini history lesson on D-Day. This was something the American people were actually taught in school, or something they remembered personally. Not so today, unfortunately. If you care to know more here are some links from the D-Day Museum and from Wikipedia that seem very thorough. Something else you might not have known about D-Day. As the allied troops were landing on the beaches of Normandy, President Roosevelt was reading a prayer on America's radio stations. Today we are going to play FDR's prayer on the air sometime during the show. For those of you who can't tune in, here it is:
You have to wonder if our country, today, with our politicians and leftist news media, could possibly prevail in such a conflict. If you missed the audio and want to hear it, we'll put it in the next Boortz Blast newsletter. Not a subscriber? Sign up here. Anyone who thinks that any news source out there is unbiased is fooling themselves. You have been brainwashed by liberal media outlets to believe that their news is the "right" news ... that it is balanced and lacking expression of political beliefs or opinions. Sorry .. but that is flat out wrong. It is impossible to rid the media of political bias. Media is not just about how you say something but what you choose to talk about. The New York Times putting the Muslim JFK plot on the 37th page-liberal media bias. Not acknowledging the fact that the conspirators were Muslim in their on-line digest, liberal media bias. I say every day on this radio show that if you believe everything that I say and don't check it out for yourself, then you are making a big mistake. You are relying on one, clearly opinionated, source for your news and that does not make someone educated. You might be interested ... heck, you might even find it entertaining! But to assume that any media news source is the be-all-end-all of the "truth" is just just not all that bright.
Shaw says, "Unfortunately, Fox News is the ratings leader . . . on the cable side of the business, and what Fox puts on the air is not news." I think what we're dealing with here is a bit of sour grapes. How dare Fox bring higher ratings than CNN! Who do they think they are? Well there you have it. Anchors at CNN deliver the "right" news, while Fox News is simply discredited. This is a typical liberal tactic. Rather than refute arguments or ideas presented on Fox, liberals just slap a conservative label on it and call it a day. There is no point in arguing. Liberals know best, and nothing else it worth addressing. Senate action on the amnesty bill. Here's what they accomplished yesterday: Members today voted down (31-62) an amendment sponsored by Sen. Wayne Allard (R-Colo.) that would have ensured that green card applicants who entered the country illegally were not given preference under a merit-based processing system over those who have waited outside the country for their immigration status to be approved. So ... we forgive the law breakers at the expense of the law-abiders. Sound like amnesty to you? The Senate adopted an amendment (71-22) sponsored by Assistant Majority Leader Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) that would eliminate provisions authorizing the Department of Labor to waive requirements that employers in "labor shortage areas" offer jobs to U.S. workers before seeking to import foreign workers. Well now ... there's something positive to celebrate. Notice, please, the absence of amendments give priority to securing our borders. Politicians are more concerned about getting the Hispanic vote than securing America for its legal citizens. In the meantime, Alabama Republican Senator Jeff Sessions released an excellent report of 20 different loopholes he found in the bill.
Are those not enough reasons for you? Can Bush still claim that criticism is nothing more than empty political rhetoric? No. The loopholes point to the fact that there is no middle-ground way to tackle immigration reform. There are too many holes in the bill that will only drag down the immigration process for those who come legally. And for those who are illegal ... they will only continue to benefit from the lack of enforcement and new reforms. Oh ... and by the way ... as we discussed yesterday, the Congressional Budget Office has come out with its own study [pdf] which shows that if the current amnesty bill is made law it will only stem illegal immigration by about 25 percent. Now that's something to brag about, isn't it?
This will allow the 15,000 immigrants of New Haven to bi-pass obstacles they encounter because they are illegal. Well guess what ... the obstacles are there for a reason. You can't open a bank account because you don't have proper identification. You can't work because you don't have a social security number. If you wanted to enjoy these privileges, then come here as a legal citizen. It's that simple. New Haven already offers immigrants federal tax help and forbids police from asking about immigration status. The ID cards are nothing more than a big fat free ticket for illegal immigrants. Why would any legal citizen apply for the card? They already have drivers licenses and social security numbers. It's a hideous symbolic gesture that says, "Come on in! Break the law. We'll make it easy for you to stay ... and all on the legal taxpayer's dime!" On the other hand, Farmers Branch, TX decided it wanted to crack down on its immigration problem. Voters voted to prohibit landlords from renting apartments to illegal immigrants. You must show that you are a legal citizen. This was the first public vote in America on local government's role in enforcing immigration. But guess what? A U.S. district judge has put a temporary restraining order on the law. It's discriminatory. And the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund and the ACLU says that "undocumented immigrants" could be forced to move or split up. Well, there's an idea! They are finally getting it. That's the whole point of the bill. They are criminals and the legal citizens no longer want to deal with illegal immigration hassles.
Are you getting a bit weary of that pimple-faced kid sucking that milkshake with his twisted straw while the scruffy looking gent across the table stares at him like he's grown a third eye? Yeah .. this commercial has been on TV for quite some time now. It's not interesting any more. Pay the durned thing off. REDNECK SCRAP BOOK How do you know you've got a redneck in the White House? This might be a clue. More in the Redneck Scrap Book. READING ASSIGNMENTS Conservatives' discontent with Bush is apparent. Some even say that Bush has destroyed a Republican's chance for the White House in '08. But could Republicans rally behind their mutual discontent? A teacher in Norwich, CT faces up to 40 years in prison for having pornography pop-ups on her computer in a seventh grade classroom. The teacher claims that the pop-ups came from advertisements, which infiltrated her computer. Another ridiculous sex offender case. This one involves a 15-year-old girl and a 17-year old boy-the boy was sentenced to 10 years in jail for having consensual oral sex at a New Year's party. On Memorial Day, nearly 100 flags were placed on the graves of war veterans in Wyoming. Days later, the grounds crew mowed over the flags, leaving them like garbage around the cemetery. Talk about a power trip. Police in West Virginia pulled over Huntington City parking attendants because their $9,600 miniature Mitsubishis and Subarus did not qualify under the Department of Motor Vehicles as "street legal." The cars are now sitting in a city garage. What a waste of taxpayer money. Terrorists are basing cells in Northern Mexico, using the open U.S.-Mexican border to enter the U.S. Muslims are enlisted Latino gangs to help them make the journey. Some good news: Genarlo Wilson may be close to getting out of prison. Chris Krok, night time host at our flagship radio station News/Talk 750 WSB, has planned a rally to protest the amnesty bill in the Atlanta area on the doorstep of Senator Saxby Chambliss' offices. Maybe that'll get his attention. | ||
