"It's for the good of the party." Never let anyone use that excuse. Especially not the President of the United States. Bush strategists have pushed that "Hispanics are Republicans waiting to emerge." Is this what is really driving Bush on his amnesty plan? It seems that all Bush is doing is attempting to salvage a legacy. He might have messed up the Iraq war but, hey, at least he gave the party millions of voters! I don't think so. Anyone who listens to this show knows that people who blindly follow any party line are shallow at best, and lacking in intellectual juice at worst. The problem is that Bush has no party to lead. He is trying to create a legacy for a party that had no vision -- no agenda. It's not that Republicans do not like Hispanics. It's about the law. It's about an invasion. These people aren't potential voters. They're criminals. They have broken our laws. Now we have this great spectacle of political parties pulling out all of the stops trying to win the favor, and the votes of people who have no respect for our system of laws. Bush can no longer use the "social values" excuse. It's dead. Get over it. While many Hispanics are socially conservative, voting trends would show you that economic interests are more important to them than are family values. An increasing number of these illegals are showing more concerned about getting food stamps and free taxpayer-funded healthcare than whether or not their neighbors are homosexuals. The more government services, the better. That's what's important. And a true conservative would never support the outrageous costs of social programs Hispanics want from their government.
Here's some late amnesty news. The Senate voted yesterday to grant amnesty to hundreds of thousands of illegals who had been previously deported from this country, and then returned, and to those who were ordered to leave and remained. The more they flaunt our laws the more we try to put them on the "path to citizenship." And let's not forget the crime. Last night I noticed no less than two news stories about illegal aliens getting drunk and killing someone in a drunk driving accident. One of these illegals had already been arrested and deported from this country twice. A whole lot of good that did. This immigration bill is about politics. That's the problem. It is void of any meaningful principals such as the rule of law or fiscal restraint. Politics. That's all it is. This will not only be bad for "the party" but it will be even worse for this nation. It appears that this particular amnesty bill is in trouble. It also seems clear that the political class is simply not going to shut down the border first ... and then try to figure out what to do with the invasion force later. If this bill dies ... and there certainly isn't much to say for it ... just try to imagine what we're going to get under a Democrat congress and President Rodham.
The school board wants the book banned because it claims to falsely depict life in Cuba. Civil liberties ignored and journalists sitting in jail? No mention. Political indoctrination of school children? Nothing. (But what the hell, that's happening in this country too!) Forced child labor or rationing? Nada. The judge attempted to hypothetically compare a book about Hitler not mentioning the Holocaust, to show the ridiculousness of the argument. Cubans represent the largest ethnic group in Miami, so there is a lot of political sway. That's a lot of hatred of Castro -- justified hatred. But as much as Cubans hate Castro, what makes this any different than that Georgia woman who wants Harry Potter removed from school libraries? The bottom line is that Cubans are now in America. And in America we have this little thing called freedom of choice. If you don't want your six year old to read the book, then don't check it out from the library. There are hundreds, probably even thousands of books written about Cuba and Castro, and I am sure that the majority do a poor job of accurately depicting Cuban life. If the parents are so upset, why don't they tell their children what they know to be the truth about their native country. It's called home-schooling. Or quality parent-child time. Take your pick. Either way, banning books is not what we do in this country. If you don't like it, don't let your kids read it. Phil sends in this sign spotted on a septic tank pumper truck. FDR'S D-DAY PRAYER Yesterday, we played the recording of FDR's D-Day prayer that he read on American radio stations sixty-three years ago. If you missed the audio and want to hear it, we'll put it in the next Boortz Blast newsletter. Not a subscriber? Sign up here. READING ASSIGNMENTS Romney is calling for a repeal of McCain-Feingold. Great idea! Someone standing up for free speech! Robert Novak says that John Edwards has worn out his welcome. Why is Edwards so unpopular with Democrat regulars? This is one SOB who needs to be arrested ... tried ... convicted and then executed as quickly as possible. Victor Davis Hanson has some lessons from D-Day. One would be that you don't call of a war because "mistakes were made." Federal employees will receive a 3.5% salary raise next year, and $21.4 billion would go toward agencies-including the IRS-if the proposed bill passes Congress. Turkish troops crossed the border into northern Iraq yesterday, after rebels in Iraq opened fire on a Turkish military outpost. Tobacco ads to stop running in women's magazines? You know how I feel about smoking. You have to be a blithering idiot to do it. A woman in Vermont was going to go to jail because she stared in a "taunting/harassing manner" at a police officer's dog. Didn't the officer have anything better to do? Amazing. Skin cells can be reprogrammed to act like embryonic stem cells. Now they just have to apply it to humans. Britain will waste $2 million in tax dollars to fund Islamic studies in British universities. The UK is slowly giving in to Muslim hopes of an Islamic state. I think this illustrates the law of unintended consequences beautifully and hilariously. [youtube video] Chris Krok, night time host at our flagship radio station News/Talk 750 WSB, has planned a rally TONIGHT to protest the amnesty bill in the Atlanta area on the doorstep of Senator Saxby Chambliss' offices. Maybe that'll get his attention. You might just be a redneck if your choice of weapon is a deer antler. | ||
