| Thursday - June 28, 2007 This morning when I cranked up ye olde email there was a message from our Washington pal, Jamie Dupree. He says that the amnesty bill --- OK, so he calls it the "immigration reform bill" --- could be dead by noon today. Apparently the amnesty bill ran into rough roads over an amendment offered by the two Democrat Senators from Montana, Max Baucus and Jon Tester. That amendment would have diluted --- not strengthened, diluted --- requirements that employers verify that new workers were legal residents of the United States. I guess that Jamie is just going to have to explain this later ... but apparently Harry Reid can't move the amnesty bill forward now without the consent of all 100 Senators. That would seem like quite a roadblock. Let's just say that there are some rather odd rules in place in the world's most exclusive club. More on the show today!
Below is a "Latino Alert" that appeared on the web at Latino News. Before you read this let me tell you how it came to my attention. First of all, of course, we have Media Myrmidons. This is a left wing website that chronicles statements from conservatives that particularly upset left wingers. Media Myrmidons was created to be an answer to the Media Research Center, a somewhat similar organization that keeps tract of liberals in the media. There is one stark difference between the two groups. The Media Research Center will simply illustrate the leftist bias in the media, and leave it at that. Media Myrmidons will highlight the statements with which they disagree, or the statements that upset them, and then give you a list of email address and contact information for employers and sponsors with an suggestion that you contact these people and ask that something be done to silence the bad, bad conservative. The MRC isn't trying to silence liberals, only expose them. Media Myrmidons wants to silence conservatives. OK ... back to the Latino Alert. Last week I told my audience that it was time to pull Media Myrmidons' chain again with some outrageous statement that they would be certain to use to bring me a few more listeners. I told the myrmidons to get their tape recorders running and then suggested that when we send the illegal aliens back home we could consider the idea of sending each illegal Mexican home with a small bag of nuclear waste. This way we could be disposing of two problems at once. Well, sure enough, Media Myrmidons bit. Let's just say they're easy. Now after Media Myrmidons posted my comments the folks at Latino News got a hold of it, along with the story that made the rounds last week about the influence talk radio was having on the debate over the amnesty bill. In that story it was noted that I had been critical of Saxby Chambliss for his initial support of the bill. Senator Chambliss did phone me at home one night and we had about a 10 minute discussion on the matter. Now apparently the folks at Latino News feel that any time a U.S. Senator contacts anyone in the media to discuss a matter of public policy, that media person suddenly becomes that Senator's "key policy adviser (sp)" Now ... along comes a lady named Marcela Salazar. Salazar works on Capitol Hill in the offices of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Apparently Salazar read the report about my lovely parting gift for our fine Mexican visitors in Latino News and became (gasp!) outraged! Salazar then sent out a mass email to the Capital Hill media, and Lord knows who else, containing links to the Media Myrmidons' coverage as well as the "Latino Alert!" Here is the heading and the first line from Marcela Salazar's mass email. Please note that the email was sent from a government email address, not Ms. Salazar's personal email address. In other words, this can be considered an official email from the offices of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
Notice, please, that in the mind of Marcela Salazar, what I said was "hate talk." No surprise there. We're all familiar with the leftist tactic of attempting to marginalize anything that a conservative or libertarian says through the use of the "hate" word. What concerns me here is the "please forward to your networks to make them aware of this." Networks? What networks? Is she talking about ABC, CBS, etc? And just what are they supposed to do with this once they become aware? Also ... where did Latinos lose their sense of humor? I'm not saying that we have the Speaker's office trying to encourage some form of punishment for a talk show host that they might not particularly like ... but the whole bit is rather interesting. Now ... for your entertainment and education .. here's the article from Latino News. Please note that the Latino news makes absolutely no mention whatsoever of the fact that what we're discussing here is illegal immigrants. To the Latino news there is no differentiation between the legal and the illegal variety of immigrant. Also, as with most liberal publications, the Latino News has no clue as to the proper definition for the word "racism." Par for the course. Now ... enjoy the revelation of the newfound power of The Talkmaster!
God, I love this job. The power is just intoxicating! I think tomorrow I'll get my taxes lowered.
In Florida they have a creative technique for catching illegal aliens. Local officials of Panama City Beach, Florida are taking immigration into their own hands ... since our federal government hasn't done a damn thing about it - besides put millions of criminals on track to legalization. So in Florida, police cars have simply been driving up to construction sites. Yep. They drive up and wait. And they watch diligently to see who runs away. If you are a Mexican track star you may have a chance. If not, you're gonna get caught. Officers chase those who flee and arrest them on charges such as trespassing, for cutting through someone else's property, or loitering, for hiding out in someone's yard, or reckless driving, for speeding off in a car. After processing the names of any illegal aliens caught are sent off to authorities. Now I know this sounds mean, but c'mon folks! Look at the ridiculous tactics local authorities must go to, just because our federal government refuses to do anything about the Mexican invasion. Here's a statement from a Mexican illegal immigrant, Jose: "We immigrants, we are leaving Panama City. People are afraid they will be deported," he said. "The companies don't want to hire illegal people. Now they're only hiring those with papers." Imagine that! They are only hiring people with papers? Isn't that just a crying shame? You are leaving because you can't get a job? But now the problem is that not all cities are doing this, and the federal government sure as hell won't. So rather than go home, they will simply move until they find a sanctuary city. There the invaders will be free to work without fear of getting caught. Don't you just feel bad for Jose? As if he, as an illegal immigrant, had the right to a job in this country. This is the mentality that this bill perpetuates. What's next? A right to visit relatives in Mexico, at the U.S. tax payers' expense? By the way ... .did you happen to see the picture on Nealz Nuze yesterday? It was a sign being held aloft by some protestors upset with our actual attempts to enforce the law. The sign read: "This is our continent. We are not going anywhere. You go back, illegal Europeans. Sons of ^*%(@%(@!" Now isn't that nice? Aren't these people going to make wonderful citizens? Iran is having a tough time right now. While its government was busy equipping terrorists to fight in Iraq, and building nuclear weapons, the people of Iran have gotten a little grumpy. You see, in Iran they have decided to do this little thing called rationing. What are they rationing? Oil. Oil to private vehicles. So the people of Tehran, the capital, have had enough. Their solution ... torch the place. Light it on fire. Burn it. Burn the gas stations. Isn't that just a brilliant and rational solution to the problem? Who do they think they are? American college students? Then again, there is an even bigger problem with this scenario ... the government. Read this statement again, "the government announced fuel rationing for private vehicles." Isn't the government just great, folks? In the US we handle shortages through market forces. Supply down, price up! Then we get politicians pandering to the clueless with calls for price controls. In Iran they take a simpler approach when the supply can't meet the demand. Rationing. Maybe we should try that here! Now tell me that the government of Iran is helping the people and the fuel shortage situation. Tell me how! Ok, good ... that's what I thought. REDNECK SCRAP BOOK You will never be late to school in this school bus. More in the Redneck Scrap Book. READING ASSIGNMENTS Here's the story on the imminent demise of the amnesty bill. Robert Rector of the Heritage Foundation sets the record straight on the cost of immigration ... nothing has changed, except now it is closer to being reality. Are you looking at these numbers, folks? Dispute over a salad? Restaurant owners are now trying to protect the intellectual property of their special recipes, calling it "culinary plagiarism!" Oh man, this is a slippery slope ... I wonder which Mexican is going to claim tacos as his culinary contribution to society. Liberals really are getting excited over the possibility of the return of the "Fairness Doctrine." This from the Daily Kos. A two to three year wait for a hip replacement in Canada. Yeah .... and it's the United States that's "Sicko." Well, Tony Blair is officially out of office. Gordon Brown steps up as the next Prime Minister ... let's just see how our future U.S.-U.K. relations might turn out. The Senate Judiciary Committee is forcing Cheney to cough up the papers. Yep, they slapped him with a subpoena. Senator Leahy wrote the cover letter ... isn't he a busy bee lately? From jihad to Guantanamo and straight back to jihad - a former Gitmo detainee was killed as Russian authorities tried to arrest him. He was a known terrorist and a supporter of the Taliban. And thanks to bleeding heart liberals, we set him free. Boy doesn't this stink of a government outrage: Congress' wasteful government spending is at an all-time high. They would like to extend a special thanks to each and every one of your tax dollars. Senator Voinovich made a fool of himself on Sean Hannity's show. First, he doesn't even know what the Fairness Doctrine is, and then he doesn't even know what amendments are passing and what is in the amnesty bill ... I guess he is proving Senator Sessions right! Oh no! A Christian journalist, David Brody, will be on Meet the Press this Sunday. Liberal nutroots have their pants in a wad saying, "We'll be watching to see if a progressive is booked to balance Brody." It's all about fairness! The war against your right to personal protection wages on. The government is using minor errors and abbreviation mistakes as reasons to revoke gun licenses from stores. A radio talk show host says he was fired after one day for being "moderate." No. Actually, you were fired because the people (and advertisers) didn't like you. And that's the way the free market goes. | ||
