BOORTZ ON IN SAN FRANCISCO!

Look out San Francisco...here I come! The Neal Boortz Show starts on KTRB 860 AM on March 15th!

ANYTHING GOES FRIDAY

Yup, it's Friday ... and I managed to get a full night's sleep last night, which means that I slept in this morning and didn't spend my normal three hours of show prep before I opened the mic. So .. that means I'm going to sit here in the concierge lounge of my NYC hotel, keep a wary eye out for that screaming brat that carried on a reign of terror here yesterday morning, and just share with you some of my ....

INTEMPERATE THOUGHTS

BOOK SIGNINGS

The book tour cranks back up March 14th in Florida. Sorry, folks, need a little break. Here's the book tour schedule.

Official airline of the Boortz Book Tour

First out of the box: We're going to hear a lot today about Newt Gingrich's admission that he was having an affair at the very same time that he, as speaker of the house, was leading the investigation of Bill Clinton. Now here's the way you'll hear the TV news anchors tell the story: "Newt Gingrich was having an affair at the very same time he was investigating Bill Clinton's relationship with Monica Lewinsky." And here's the right way to report the story: "Newt Gingrich was having an affair at the very same time he was investigating weather or not Bill Clinton had committed perjury and obstructed justice." Not quite that exciting a story when you tell it the right way, is it?

Note: As I'm typing this in the concierge lounge I'm listening to two women at the table behind me discuss the Gingrich story. One says to the other: "At least Monica Lewinsky got someone sexy.' Once again I'm left thinking our founding fathers got it right.

Now the ladies at the table behind me are griping about advertising. They want newspapers to drop all advertising and only print critical news. They're tired of reading all of that advertising in the papers. I would love to spin around and ask these two brilliant women just how much they would be willing to pay for their newspaper sans advertising, but I'm in my polite mode today. At least they don't have a screaming kids with them.

You're also going to hear a lot today about the FBI going just a wee bit overboard in looking through telephone, financial and business records of US citizens and residents under the Patriot Act. There's a news conference scheduled for later .. but it looks like the FBI considers judicial approval for their searches and fishing expeditions to be an annoyance. We're losing control of our government here.

One of the women behind me ... German accent, by the way ... just sneezed on my neck.

Another report just out ... the net worth of American households is skyrocketing. This is the second strong growth year in a row. The net wealth increase is being traced to growth in investments .. investments spurred by tax cuts that allow Americans to keep more of the money they earn. What do you think happens to household net worth when the Democrat Party raises our taxes again. More below.

Protestors in Columbia and Brazil. Students protesting President Bush's visit. Do you remember your days as a "student?" Wasn't it wonderful to be at that very special time in your life when you knew all the answers? I still think we should take one country ( I nominate Haiti) and turn it over to the world's "students" to run. Let's see what happens when a country is run by people who know everything and have all the solutions to all of the problems that have plagued mankind for so many years. If not Haiti, how about Nebraska?

SO WHAT ELSE IS NEW

Let's rant a little more about the wonderful, all-knowing "student" protesters: No sooner did George W. Bush land Air Force One in Brazil than the rent-a-mobs showed up to protest the United States in the streets. Images were beamed around the world of burning American flags and caricatures of Bush as Hitler. The media reacts to all of this with glee, pointing out that the rest of the world hates us because of the war in Iraq.

Don't believe any of it for a minute. The truth is only certain people in certain parts of the rest of the world hate the United States...and it's that vocal minority that lines up for the media coverage. The fact is people all over the world love the United States. They love our entertainment, our inventions and want to come here to access the opportunity this country represents. But these protests aren't limited to Bush, either.

People around the world protested President Clinton and burned him in effigy just as much. It's all about envy...we have what some of these people want: a higher standard of living and freedom. So none of this is anything new. Oh and it's interesting to note that American liberals have something in common with street protesters in Brazil. They both love comparing George Bush to Adolf Hitler. That's how you know a leftist has run out of ideas, by the way. They call you a Nazi. Some things never change.

THE ECONOMIC BOOM ROLLS ON

According to a Federal Reserve report yesterday, the net worth of U.S. households has skyrocketed. This confirms what many of us have been saying for quite some time: we are currently in an unprecedented economic boom. But don't tell that to the Democrats or the media...they're doing their best to cover it up. And they have good reason. If Americans really realized just how good they had it under a Republican president, they might not vote for Hillary Clinton. And the media won't have that.

But the statistics are telling. Personal wealth among American households spiked 2.5 percent in the last quarter. Added onto the entire year, that's a 7.4% net worth increase among families. This is huge. If the economy was as bad as the press wants everyone to believe, then how come people are getting richer by the day? All of this is happening despite a slowdown in the housing market.

It used to be said that people voted with their wallet. If the economy was good, the incumbent party and president were safe. Yet even the Republicans screwed that up in the last election. For some reason, they were drawn into arguments about Iraq and were unable to effectively trumpet their economic record.

Thanks to the Bush tax cuts, the economy is on fire. Happy days are here again. Just don't tell the Democrats.

GLOBAL COOLING IS BACK

More troubling facts for the global warming movement. The government has released temperature data for February. Do the statistics show the Earth continues to warm at a troubling rate? Is certain doom accelerating in the environment, ready to melt the polar ice caps and cause California to fall into the ocean? Will winter soon be relegated to the ash heap of history, with the entire world enveloped in a global warming-induced massive temperature hike? Uh..no.

As a matter of fact, according to the National Environmental Satellite, Data and Information Service, the average temperature in the month of February fell almost 2 degrees. What, you say? Is this over last year? The last 5 years? Compared to the last 10 or 20? Nope. When compared with the average over the 100-year period between 1901 and 2000. In fact, we've just experienced the 34th coldest February in the last 113 years.

This is a long-standing problem with the global warming hype. The facts and figures don't line up with the hysteria. Just as there may be data that shows the Earth is warming, there is plenty of information to the contrary. But anything that doesn't square with the environmental extremists is ignored and not reported. And that's why global warming has nothing to do with the environment and everything to do with politics.

READING ASSIGNMENTS

Here's a clip from the South Park episode with Wheel of Fortune that Neal talked about.

So how's come all of a sudden various states are issuing apologies for slavery

or at a minimum debating whether to do so? According to one AP analysis, it's because politicians are looking for ways to show concern. In other words, political candidates are pandering. That and the reparations movement may be getting ready to fire back up.

Valerie Plame is scheduled to testify in front of a House committee that is investigating the leaking of her name. I wonder if somebody will ask her why no one was prosecuted for leaking her name and why, if her privacy was such an issue, she posed for a magazine spread?

President Bush says he's going to veto the Democrats' surrender plan for Iraq.

Of course, the plan has no chance of passing, much less becoming law...but the Democrats that are pushing it knew that. Perhaps sooner or later they'll come up with a new plan...which would be the 18th...to stop the war in Iraq.

The 400th anniversary of the founding of Jamestown is being celebrated
in Virginia, but the anti-American crowd is out in force. A member of the organizing committee for the celebration is calling the founding of the settlement an "invasion" and a "holocaust." Boo hoo.

Every time global warming is discussed in the media, the press runs a photo of a polar bear stranded on an iceberg. But it turns out that there are more polar bears because of the warmer temperatures, not less. Seems like the media may have to go back to the drawing board on this one. It must be all that Coca-Cola the bears drink.

Probably the biggest leftist in the United States Senate...who just so happens to be a Republican...Nebraska Senator Chuck Hagel is set to announce he is running for president. Since the war is so unpopular, you would think Hagel would be a shoo-in. Or not.

Charles Krauthammer says not only should Scooter Libby get a pardon,

but it should be granted immediately. He also singles out Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald for a skewering. He says Libby is going to prison for having a faulty memory.

Ken Blackwell wonders if even though John McCain is a beloved war hero and a strong conservative,

if his stands on campaign finance are going to come back to haunt him. Certain groups who believe McCain tried to silence them will be out for revenge. Get ready.

Thomas Sowell explains that the Libby prosecution is a classic case

of what goes wrong when you appoint a special prosecutor for a specific purpose. Sowell says that had Fitzgerald been a regular prosecutor, the matter of Libby's lying would have never even been pursued.

David Limbaugh makes the case that the prosecution and media obsession with Scooter Libby

doesn't have anything to do with perjury or even the obstruction of justice. It's all about advancing the agenda that the Bush Administration lied to get us into war.

Freak cow in India caught eating live chickens.

German man on two of the children he fathered with his sister: "Eric, our eldest child, has epilepsy, but he was born two months premature, he also has learning difficulties. Our other daughter, Sarah, has special needs." Gee, makes you wonder why mating with your sibling is against the law in Germany.
