Maybe I shouldn't say this, but I am somewhat surprised at the tremendous reception the book has received from those who have read it. I guess I lived with it so long during the writing and editing process that I just couldn't see it through the eyes of a reader. To be sure, there are going to be some very negative reviews from liberals in the media. After all, what would you expect them to say of a book that is tough on adults who can't earn more than the minimum wage, and that promotes the idea of restricting ballot access across the country. The people who have bought "Somebody's Gotta Say It?" Well, they love it. Here's an email I received from an associate of a non-profit foundation. I've eliminated names so the poor guy won't be harassed for free books:
Negative comments? Oh, you bet! Take a look at this review that was posted on Barnes & Noble.com:
The review was posted by one "John Bryans Fontaine, a believer in Viable Liberalism." Clearly Fontaine did not read the book .. he just read the back cover. If he had taken the time to read the book he would find out that there is no right to vote in a federal election. He's also right about the Voting Rights Act, though it is not covered in the book. I do oppose it, but not because I think that people should be denied access to the polls based on their race. I oppose the Voting Rights Act because it applies only to specific states .. .and I take this "equal treatment under the law" thing seriously. As for loathing Democracy? Well, Fontaine is right on this one. I don't like mob rule .. and democracy is mob rule. Our founding fathers felt the same way. Oh .. and we must point out that Fontaine, like most liberals, finds it necessary to invoke Hitler or the Nazis when he's talking about someone he perceives to be a conservative. Par for the course .. and a sure signal of a weak mind. Right after Fontaine's review you'll find another one saying that "Somebody's Gotta Say It" is an "all time classic." Now I feel better. So .. John Bryans Fontaine, a believer in "Viable Liberalism" notwithstanding; thanks for the positive words on the book. It's nice to know that so many people are enjoying it so much. Great discounts on "Somebody's Gotta Say It" are available right now on Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble.com.
The issue, of course, will be what they will call the "immigration" problem, and what really should be called the Mexican invasion of the United States. The idea of a border fence will surely be discussed. I heard on the news this morning that some think the fence sends a message that Latin Americans aren't welcome in the United States. Nonsense. It sends a message that the United States is a government of laws and that people who break those laws are not welcome in the United States. It's about the law. Just follow the law. Sure, we're a nation of immigrants. But we're a nation of legal immigrants! What kind of respect for the rule of law do you have when your very presence here is based on a violation of those laws? Don't let George Bush fool you with these references to "comprehensive immigration reform." The "comprehensive" word is just another way of saying that we must have amnesty. Bush's goal is to forgive the illegal activities of the 12 to 20 million criminal aliens we have in this country and to give them a shortcut to legal residency and citizenship. Can we stop the invasion by building a fence along the border? Probably not, though it would certainly be a good start. The real way to stop the invasion is to remove the reason these people swarm across our border ... jobs. Make the penalties harsh ... very harsh ... on any employer in the United States who knowingly or carelessly hires a criminal alien. We can then set up a guest worker program administered through a series of employment agencies operating under strict government oversight ... only workers with guest worker permits can get jobs, and guest worker permits are only available in the countries of their citizenship. All payments are made through the employment agencies .. and the payments stop when the job is over.
Now .. here you are, standing as little more than an object of amusement for many, and an example of a depraved race pimp to most, trying to compete with someone who carries himself with the dignity of Barack Obama. What can you do? Get rid of the pompadour hairstyle? Suddenly develop an aura of respectability? Hardly. You really only have one option ... either you manage to get Barack Obama to legitimize you and elevate you to something close to his level by begging you for your endorsement; or you start ripping into Obama in the faint hope that you can somehow bring him down to play with you in the sty. Yup .. .it sucks to be Al Sharpton. Finally Americans have seen what a bona-fide black candidate for the presidency looks like and talks like --- and he bears no resemblance whatsoever to you. And if sucks to be Al Sharpton, think about how much it sucks to be Jesse Jackson right now. Why, this Obama upstart hasn't even established his credentials by blackmailing a major corporation ... and here he is being taken seriously! Life's tough, Jesse! How ya gonna keep the money flowing into your secret coffers when you aren't the leader of the pack any more?
The story about the deplorable conditions at the Walter Reed Army Hospital continues to grow. Yesterday we have the U.S. Army's surgeon general forced out of office. That would bring the count to three high-level Army officials who have received the boot. Last week I told you that the Walter Reed story will eventually be your story .. the story of your medical care under our quickly approaching system of government medical care, a/k/a socialized medicine. Come on folks, wake up and smell the antiseptic. If this is the medical care our wounded soldiers from the Middle East receive from a government-run health care system, what makes you think that the care you are going to receive under "universal health care" is going to be any better? "Freedom loving" Americans have decided that their health care is not their responsibility. It's the responsibility of either the government or their employer. Walter Reed is your future. You asked for it ... enjoy it. Just wondering here ... but a few days ago a caller to the show mentioned that there is not one documented case of a person dying in this country of a marijuana overdose. Alcohol --- yes. Most other illicit drugs --- yes. Marijuana? The caller says none. Any opinions?
You do know, don't you, that many of the principal leaders of CAIR have made no secret of their desire to see the United States under Islamic Law. Somehow our mainstream media never seems to mention this dandy little factoid. Anyway ... here's the story as I see it. These Imams make a conscious decision to go to the Minneapolis-St. Paul airport with the express intention to get themselves arrested and/or kicked off the flight. The lawsuit is the next step ... intended to make airlines think twice before they kick disruptive Muslims off of flights. After U.S. Airways has been sufficiently harassed by these Muslims it arguably be easier for Muslims to act strangely on commercial airline flights. Are we being softened up? Could be! One thing is for certain: The American people have fallen into a deep sleep insofar as the threat of another Islamic attack on our country is concerned. The continuous, relentless leftist and Democrat hammering of the president for his conduct of the war on Islamic fascism and security issues at home has taken its toll. We're being targeted for another attack by these practitioners of this wonderful, peaceful religion of Islam. Get the recriminations ready.
Make no mistake about what Barack Obama represents. The race pimps like Al Sharpton hate him because he's cutting into their act. Guys like Sharpton think the black vote is something they own...something they can use as a bargaining chip to liberals like Hillary Clinton. But then along comes Obama...a black man that isn't just a token running for office, but somebody who has a realistic chance of winning the nomination. Suddenly Sharpton's influence begins to fade...and he doesn't like it one bit. Hillary Clinton is also miffed....in a major way. She's planned her White House run for decades now. It was supposed to be hers...the nomination should have been automatic. All sorts of Democrats waited out the race for fear of being destroyed by The Hildabeast..but not Obama. He's running...taking up the spotlight and lining up Democratic donors. Hillary isn't pleased..that was supposed to be her money. It's going to be fascinating to watch Hillary and Obama duke it out in the primary. Mrs. Clinton will stop at nothing to be elected president of the United States. Nothing.
We have done just exactly what Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels told us we had to do; we have turned the education of our children over to the government. And now we proudly run around with bumper stickers on our cars advertising that fact! Here's an email from an "honor student's" parent: I've gone ahead and corrected the spelling:
Yeah, right. The students "earn" those honor credentials. And see if you can make any sense out of that reference to San Quinton. I rather liked the bumper sticker which read: "My son the Marine sniper can pick off your honor student at a click and a half." But then ... I'm insensitive. Some fun "honor student" comeback stickers here. Look ... you parents out there are operating under the impression that your child's government school is actually doing a good, if not merely adequate job of educating your child because you don't understand how much better things would be if your child was being educated in a private school or in a system where school choice brings competitive pressures to the education marketplace. In the meantime .. just slap those bumper stickers on your cars and advertise to all the world that you have abandoned the education of your child to the government. REDNECK SCRAP BOOK If a redneck was to use a flash USB drive, it would have to be this one. More in the Redneck Scrap Book. READING ASSIGNMENTS When politicians talk about fixing the health care system,
Herman Cain would like to point out that it has nothing to do with helping
people or making our quality of life better. He says it's all about
political power. Oh and the free market is the best solution to the health care
problem. A new poll says Rudy Giuliani is the favorite for the 2008 Republican
nomination. But is he conservative enough? He leads McCain 34 percent to
18 percent. But his pro-choice and pro-gun control stances may cause a bit of a
problem in certain primaries. Stay tuned. The New York Times is starting to question Al Gore and the science
surrounding his movie "An Inconvenient Truth." Could the left finally be having
a backlash against the global warming crowd? We can only hope. Maybe they're
starting to realize just what Gore's agenda is. | ||
